- How to drive perfectly and pass your driving test in 2024. Driving to the driving test standard in the UK is very hard, that's why the pass rate in the UK is less than 50%. In this video I cover some of the most common areas of the driving test that you need to know and I show you the standard that you need to achieve to pass the UK driving test.
Some of the ares that I cover for the driving test are moving off and stopping, left emerge, right emerge, left turns, right turns, over taking parked cars, hill starts and one of the four driving test manoeuvres, mini roundabouts and roundabouts.

I think what learners find hard is being really consistent with the safety routines. I think it's really hard in the UK because of the sheer volume of traffic - there is never a "quiet" time to drive. It takes a lot of concentration to drive well. But hey, we all get there in the end, right? :)

I passed my driving test today with 4 minors. When I’m practicing with my instructor I had been watching these videos and got more knowledge and used it when I’m practicing. You’re really brilliant!!!. If someone has their test soon, don’t be panic, try to watch all of these videos you can easily pass the test. Failed my test on Friday with 1 serious and 8 minors. Honestly I thought I had passed. I want to do my test again instantly because the serious was me just losing my concentration for a slight moment.
If the serious happens towards the end of your driving test, it could be fatigue.
@@JamesTravis yes it was close to the end of the test. It said to leave at the third exit on a roundabout and I went into the right lane assuming it was a right turn but because it was a big roundabout I left on the left. Was very frustrating that I made that mistake.
@@oli1428 I would then have a shorter lesson on the day of your driving test. Then you will feel more focused all the way through.

I'm going for my test Saturday so I'm just sharpening up I don't think I need to I failed last time but I failed on a mini roundabout I only has 6 minors so I will bag it this time you're videos have been great for me as I've saved alot of money on lessons as I did the basics with an instructor then am basically self taught through your videos I will pass Saturday and if I could id shake your hand afterwards I would because u have been a big part of my pass when I get it Saturday

This video really helped ! I watched it a few hours before my test and it just made driving feel so much easier, and reduced any anxiety I had to minimal. I passed with 2 minors ! It's really not as scary as you think it is ☺️

I have mine in less than 10 weeks ...im feeling a bit stress but will have a bit of break next week as my insuctor is off on holiday!. Though still watching all these videos and been usefull!. Feel really condifent with bay parking , general driving but changing lanes i get a bit mixed up with a bit..but overall i really feel i could pass.

Hi there.That's a really nice relaxed drivig style. I think the way you check centre mirror then side mirror early and not in a rushed manner is a great tip. I find myself often waiting until a little bit closer to the junction and then kind of rushing my mirror checks, which makes no sense because at that stage I should be concentrating on changing down gears and my observations to the front and what's coming in the roundabout, not mirrors. I know it's good to look again and keep an eye out, but I like how you get the essential mirror checks done quite early and calmly.

I so wished you covered bolton, I'm having a nightmare finding a decent instructor, I'm terrified of my second lesson with new instructor because he is let's say very friendly ( not in a good way ) took me home jumped a red light speeding. So dreading the next lesson I really need to find the perfect instructor but everyone is fully booked and got a test booked for October 😪 I'm still using partners car but he works longer hours then me. I'm getting so down about it all. 😪
Try and get on a waiting list of other instructors if you are not happy.

Dont pay to be uncomfy, just wait for other instructors, will help you in your learning and make u a better driver

You see, my issue is mainly a) nerves and b) I usually fail at the home stretch/last hurdle which a pain in the butt😭😭😭😭😭

My lessons are usually 2 hours and my instructor has clocked I get tired after about an hour

I got mine tomorow but im very nervous about that part aswell i mean i got alot of experience in driving it just feels like that part i will struggle with ... ive just watched this and made me feel alot better espetially with the open detail i can see what he is doing aswell as the road ahead and behing helps to know how to perfectionize your skills would need more info about that manouver part and why you have to reverse for two car lengths

Wasn’t the signal misleading and 6:56 because there was a junction that you passed as you were indicating.

Where does the term biting point come from, sounds like a dentist term not a driving instructors?

Thankyou for the videos there really helping me , I have my test next week and have a question, I have a provisional license with an incorrect address on it, will the examiner still accept it ?
Yes they will accept it. But if all goes to plan and you pass(good luck I hope you do).
Then at the end of test they will ask to keep your license and send the new one to the address on your provisional license. If this is a problem, I think the examiner will advise you to go to post office and ask for form to change your address.

Would you by any chance know how much of a back log the DSVA has in tests. I am on the page everyday with my theory about to expire next month and can’t seem to find a Theory or Practical test and the dates stop appearing in August / September. Or is it a case of stalking their site to see if new slots are given for October?

I think it’s 3 to 6 months wait now depending on area. I would check every hour if you have time, or even rope in friends to help you. Cancellation s. Appear every day, just need to keep checking. Good luck
They release new dates at 6am every Monday. This week, the test that we’re available were in February and so on. You can download apps that find cancellations too 👍

Could you tell me please why you have the priority over the bus when turning left at that junction?
The bus needs to cross my road to turn right. When turning right you need to give priority to oncoming traffic. So the bus gives way to myself in the left lane.

Yes, if you can see it’s clear on both sides then you would carry on driving. But if you cannot see clearly, then you would need to slow down more and recheck and give way if needed.

I had to double check that you weren't driving an auto. Not sure if steering a manual car left handed with your right arm resting on the window ledge is a good look for the test. Shouldn't we be keeping our right hands on the wheel so that our left hand is free for gear changes?
That’s a fair point. I was trying to not come across as too stuffy on camera, that’s why I was driving with my arm resting against the side to give a relaxed look when driving on a straight road or waiting to move off. When I am completing anything that involves steering I have both hands on the wheel.
When it comes to steering on the driving test as long as you are in control of the steering and car then the examiner will not fault you.
But I will take into account your comment when recording further videos.
In the last roundabout 10:00 minute where did it say right lane should be used going straight? I missed that. If the exist is to the right but still counts as “straight” in roundabout order shouldn’t left lane be used? Or if “straight” or 2nd exit is more to the right & requires turning right more or less then you use right lane when enter roundabout?
Yes the arrows in ground on approach asked you to use the right lane to go ahead or to go right. So if you were going right then nothing changes. If you were going ahead, then you would enter in the right and stay in the right until you have passed first exit, check mirrors and signal to exit roundabout.
@@JamesTravis thank you, I did not see those markings on the road to be honest ☹️but if they were there it actually makes sense: you approach in certain line not to change it suddenly when entering roundabout but to follow the lane until you exit. So you keep to your lane you arrived from whilst being on roundabout and change later.

Good mirror checks is important.
I do ask my students to check what is next to your shoulder, its like a half blind spot check.

As long as you control the steering wheel and are in control of your car you are ok.
Why you have not feet camera..??
On this video I thought it would not help as much as on the other videos I have with the camera on the feet.
Is there any software that gives you a notification when a test slot is available. I recently failed and want to rebook ASAP but there’s no available slots. Is my only option to be patient and keep checking the system or is there anything that can do it for me
Just keep checking till you see a spot. Then after booking a spot I get my students to use the Genie link to bring it closer.
Really need ur help, If on my driving test I pull forward fully into a parking bay and don’t end up in the lines am I allowed to reverse out and go back into the space straight? Or no corrections allowed?I’ve heard conflicting answers, thanks.
Yes you are allowed to correct your mistakes.

@@benp7048 yes it’s classed as a minor driving fault. The important thing to remember is observations must continue and ask yourself, would you leave your own car like that. Good luck and check out the playlist on driving test manoeuvres. I am sure there is a video in there covering such a subject.
One question. I thought at junctions, you should always stop before turning out.
Is that wrong?
If you can see and it’s clear after checking, then don’t stop.
But if you cannot see or if it’s not fully clear, then slow down and expect to give way.
If it’s a STOP junction, then you always stop and look.
Hello, I have my test coming up and I'm going in my own car.
it has a small dent on the side from when someone hit it parking their car -_- it passed its MOT... will it be okay to still go to the test?
If the examiner can get into and out of your car using the car door then it will be ok.
