- The sun was shining and summer was here at last on this trip to the river today. The crystal clear waters made for a great session as I sampled the gravels in search of Scottish gold.
My name is MrDazP1 and this is the gold prospecting and Gold Panning corner of my channel.

Thanks Chambochambers. I didn't start sluicing until about 2:30pm on this session so all in all it was a fair pan for the amount of work I put in.

I was happy with the pan full of small gold on this session given the relatively short session I had at the river buddy
Short travelled gold ftom the look of it. Nice work.
There was a lot of wire gold in the pan and even the tiny pieces looked course with the lens on full macro.

Bet the fish love the stirred up sediment and bugs! Tennesee here,USA,not many places to even fish streams like we did as kids,landowners even call troopers for kids fishing off bridges in land we waded streams to fish in growing up in 100 degrees to cool off,nothing built near then,now fences block everybody,cameras,etc! Huge Lakes still open but not as fun as kids like to explore,lol!
There are some nice looking fish in this river but it has been heavily polluted over the centuries from mining. Mind you with it being Scotland, there's plenty of bugs like you say .
As always, another great production from Daz......nothing more exciting than anticipation on what's below your feet.
Yes that's right, you just never know what kind of day you will have, but with the sun shining and blue skies, it makes for a good one either way 👍

There's quite a fair bit of consistent small gold on this spot with odd bigger piece.

I've had a few trips out to the rivers this year and really enjoyed the peace and quiet that you get with gold panning.

@Thefatfoodiemcr editing can be extremely time consuming. It has to be part of the hobby for it to work in my opinion

It's a funny old place up there. I have met people with show cases full of nuggets but I guess you need to be a local and keep clearing the same spot until it's just bedrock.

Hi Bobby, Unfortunately I never got the opportunity on this trip as I just went panning every day and put all of my finds into a separate snuffer bottle after taking the final pan pics. In fact I need to empty it out now ready for my next visit to a river.

Did you way the gold for the day? If so would you mind saying how much it weighed … great video as always
Hi Chris I did not way the gold, in fact I tend to leave it in the snuffer bottle in my back pack and then realise what I have done when I go out on my next trip. It wouldn't have been much though as all I need is just enough visible gold in the pan to make a video.
Really interested in taking our little boy out panning in the lake district. We live in the lakes. Just wondering if there are any permits or rules we need to follow. Permission? Otherwise can we just go have a go with a pan. I know of a few good locations eastern and central lakes, in the volcanic groups and quartz zones.
Where ever possible I would seek permission but that can be easier said than done.
Personally, I'd go for a picnic and find a lovely quiet spot where nobody will bother you and you are out of site and out of mind.
You may see the odd sign stipulating no fishing, but never no panning - unless you are in certain parts of Wales.

Leadhills is just an hour or so north of the Lakes and you can get a permit for there

I've no been out for 17 month but I'm getting better all the time thanks ,yeah we leave no trace Mr d . that's the Cumbria corner ,holds nice gold but it's no the best place for the dredge .I've been on every burn up there my friend, up and round the corner to the left holds good gold but again a bit too exposed for the pirates . Well in Mr d .it really is the gem of that area .I wish you all the luck in the world my friend keep digging and you'll get the bigger shiny Arrrr

Sniping,you get any nuggets? Biggest?
There are nuggets in the UK and most places have been exploited by the Romans and the old timers before our modern era old timers.
I think that some of the better pieces are found with metal detectors over here and the locations are never really shared.
This area can still produce descent pickers and nuggets, but you have to keep working the sections and going back to them time and time again, leaving no stone unturned.
I have sniped a few times and the pieces do get better 👍

It can be a grey area. The land owner may not own the river. The river authority may not have the rights to the minerals. That is why sustainable prospecting is key. Throw it back once you have found it, ready for the next person .

Hi Jbss, it's such a grey area. The land owner may not own the river. The river owner may not own the land. Neither may own the mineral rights. It's a good job that I always put the gold back to keep the hobby sustainable 👍
