    Hi @cinnamongirlx1! We have a 10 piece diamond encrusted drill bit set with 2.35mm shanks that should meet most of your needs. You can use them on any rotary tool as long as it is able to clamp onto the shank size. We recommend when you're drilling glass, to drill from one side then stop halfway and drill from the other side to meet in the center. This gives a cleaner hole in your glass.

      BFS Locations, seems to me using a dremel 3000 would make rpm adjustable and give more control.

    If you put a piece of masking tape on the area you want to drill it will stop the bit from slipping

    Thank you for recommending the right drill bit! I've been using the regular construction ones that I already had for my Dremel and it did break skin :( the diamond one is so much easier to work with!

    Hi you can also use a Files or sandpaper on the top of the shell while sanding in time the top will reveal a whole straight through the shell from top to bottom

    Very helpful video! Can I ask your advice? I have some raw capiz shells that I plan to make a string and wall hanging out of. Problem is I have to drill all the holes for the fishing/filiment line myself (searching for how to do this is how I found your video). Do you think the Dremel model and drills you used in this video will work for my need? You mention a special adapter; do I have to buy that separately? If so, would you mind telling me what it's called so I can locate where to purchase? Thank you kindly for any help you can provide! :)

    Can you use these to drill pearls?

    • @bfslocations
      @bfslocations  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sandi, I've asked Lynn to answer this question. Here is her response..."I've used it to drill part way into pearls. To get all the way through pearls it's best to use a drill press. "
      Hope this helps!

    I’m using a dremel 4000 want to drill holes through small natural agate drusys what type of diamond tips should i use already tried doing this dry without water because I didn’t know and ruined 2 bits!! Augh

    • @bfslocations
      @bfslocations  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's the question about the agate druzy, you can use the diamond bits but I highly recommend water to help get the job done. Agate is a lot harder than shells so you'll wear through the diamond bits faster. I'm not sure what would be a better drill bit to use instead, I hope this is helpful.

    Can this drill through semi precious stones like rose quartz or Amethyst?

    • @bfslocations
      @bfslocations  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Technically it can but it'll depend on the type of drill bits you use.
      The ones we used on the episode won't be able to get through pieces thicker than 1 centimeter.
      Also, you would have to drill 1/2 way from one side and then meet up in the center by drilling from the other side.
      You might be able to go all the way through depending on what type of stone it is.
      I'm sure there are other drill bits that would allow you to go all the way through in one shot but I'm not sure what kind they are. I hope this helps....

    • @bfslocations

      The drill bits are: 10-piece set diamond-tip bits. They are from The Bead Smith.

    It seemed like you kept slipping off to the side, did this effect the result of the shell?
