Seasmoke: I'm here to talk to you about your car's extended warranty. It's me. I'm the car.
Seasmoke claiming Addam struck a perfect balance between *YOU ARE BEING ADOPTED PLEASE DO NOT RESIST* & *GET IN LOOSER WE'RE GOING SHOPPING*
Addam: {Cowers against the rocks in terror.}
Seasmoke: I'll kiss him and love him and squeeze him and hug him and call him George!
Probably because Seasmoke trusts Addam
Where did that come from? Seems like such a daffy quote
From an old Looney Toons cartoon.
😆
Awww…he don’t move no more😂😂😂
I don’t get why Lady Arryn is being cagey about a rogue dragon? That’d be the first thing I’d talk to the Targaryens about. “Hey, you lost one - and it’s kinda eating our livestock and small folk. You wanna come get your death lizard?”
"we've been trying to check for a microchip but it ate Animal Control guy"
My best guess is she didn’t want her to die and leave the kids and dragons without a “mom”
Pretty sure all Lady Arryn’s are cagey. Seems like a pretty common characteristic lmao
Death lizard 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was hilarious lol
"Hey, dude! You smell just like Laenor. Wanna a ride?"
- Seasmoke
The behind the scenes for this is great. Besides Paddy Constantine being hilarious, they actually set those guys on fire with some protective equipment.
Also I think Larys advising Aegon over being disabled might be the most honest thing he’s done so far. It’s all in the name of manipulation, but there’s a genuine empathy to it I don’t think he’s faking.
Yeah he definitely starts that monologue in the name of manipulation but I think as he spoke the memories got to him a bit and he accidentally lost his mask for a moment and started speaking honestly for the first time in a long time.
The best lies are the ones that sprinkle a bit of truth in them...
Same as Tyrion, in that way…
I mean, Seasmoke was checking him out in episode 1 or 2, right? He's gotten bored of waiting for him to come, so he decided to do it himself
Exactly!!
I love how the boys have emergency reading material on hand now.
in times of crisis and shock,we often forget to set all the nobs and faders into minimum values. good that they both take care of that issue.
Elmo Tully is in fact NOT okay, he is actually quite dead (not joking). Grover Tully's grandson was Elmo Tully, who is the father of Oscar Tully, who now rules Riverrun. Elmo also has another son named Kermit.
I don’t think George realized he was gonna have to commit to these names when he was working out the family tree 😂
Meanwhile, Kermit Tully is just out there chilling LOL.
I came to post this too. Elmo was killed off screen. Poor little red guy. He's only three.
@@Regenmacher175 I heard he met the pink dread and fell in love.
I hope we meet Kermit, but I fear he has been cut out...also not holding out much hope for Black Aly and Sabitha
Alys: Let me adjust your pillow, Lord Grover.
The actor who plays Alyn, Corlys's bastard, is Abubakar Salim and he does have a great voice. He has done voice acting for games including Bayek from Assassin's Creed Origins.
As soon as I saw Seasmoke I was like "hmmmm, think this dragon has picked his rider".
He did. He's been flirting with Addam since the day he saw him crabbing.
Seasmoke pulled a Reverse Pokémon 😁
"Addam-san, I Choose You!"😂
alicent’s face when gwayne says daeron is kind … heartbreaking honestly made me tear up a lil
Lost my dog tonight, feeling awful and devastated.
Thank you for allowing me to smile a bit and think of something else for half an hour today, that was welcomed.
I’m so sorry. I’ve been there, am still there. Glad we could help in some small way.
Hope your dog finds their way back home
Rhaenyra coming in hot with the Uber Eats🍞🥙🟠
The riot scene was really well done. The coordination it took to get all those extras to look enraged without anyone actually being hurt is impressive, and the editing was great. The shot of the queens running to escape and being cut off, cutting off the audience’s view of them? Very good.
Seasmoke was like... who is this white boy? 🤨
So, he darkened him up.
Too soon?
I actually think he had a chance but got too cocky in the end
I feel like Steffon might have had a better shot with Vermithor or Silverwing. Seasmoke has a type.
There are three wild dragons…Sheep Stealer, Grey Ghost and The Cannibal.
How to claim a dragon? You don't! You're chosen ❤
Just like the wand chooses the wizard - only more pant wetting
Lol facts. That was both aggressive and adorable.
I would be fine with a dragon choosing me lol then I don't have to get burned alive trying the wrong one 😅
@@DragonQueen78 yeah me too.
Pretty much yeah haha. You can try to claim a dragon but ultimately the dragon chooses you. The first flight especially is important as Nanna Vhagar showed us
When you realize the whole reason Dragonkeepers wear a sharp knife.....
Why do they carry those sticks though? Useless!
@@IndomitableAde It's Pavlovian: the sticks are not useless when the dragon is young, they hurt quite a bit. So the dragon learns to fear them and subconsciously understands that if it does something wrong when the sticks are around, it hurts. Of course, like with any animal, that's mostly going to be effective against a dragon that is regularly interacting with the dragonkeepers. And as we see here... Seasmoke's been away from them for a while now, lol.
@@thewardenduncan that makes some sense, although when training a creature like a like a fire-breathing dragon that grows until it dies, I'd go with the equivalent of a carrot rather than a stick.
Such a great “set the table” episode getting us ready for the final two episodes
Elmo and Kermit Tully are the brothers of Oscar in the book.
Tbf, it’s funny how they’re named in the books, but I can see why they’d be cut or unmentioned in the show for their names alone.
Kermit and Oscar are the sons of Elmo who is the grandson of Grover
@@lesshero9982Oscar here has way more elements of Elmo and Kermit, but I get why they chose the most normal name😂
Guys, thank you for doing what you do and being who you are. My depression and anxiety are kicking my ass atm and watching your videos is a little ray of sunshine that make me smile every time without fail. ❤
Otto brought Daeron up a couple episodes ago. He is the youngest of Alicents kids. He was sent to ward with his Hightower side when he was very young. This was the fate of many of the youngest children in the larger more noble houses
The moment A Dragon literally hunts you down, and burns the landscape…Just to be friends. Sea Smoke brinks a whole new meaning to the Ride or Die mantra.
the red kraken dalton greyjoy is a badass!!!! one of the most legendary ironmen he was rowing at 5 and reaving at 10. he's currently 16, and wields a valyrian steel longsword called nightfall he took off a corsair. he gained his moniker when he avenged his uncle in combat and came out of the fight covered in blood
Seasmoke: I've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty!
21:15 I think Helaena is seeing another vision about the three ''unclaimed'' dragons of Rhaenyra (there were 3 small cricket cages) wherein she says ''this one stopped singing'' pertaining to Seasmoke being claimed first....
On my favourite podcast, House of R, they had a listener email decrying the de-muppetfication of house Tully. Elmo is Grover's deceased son, Kermit is supposed to be the new lord Oscar's brother.
Or the de-sesame street of house Tully if you will
Dragons are just like cats. You don't choose your dragon, the dragon chooses its person.
Good god I wish the internet was like your rule “you only get to bitch if u have a plan” internet discourse would seize to exist
Ser Steffon: I got this.
Me: Don't get cocky, kid!
She doesn't collect birds she collects insects.
Jay: I'll take a dragon over that any day
Jay when the dragon roasts someone: 🥺🥺😕😕😮😮😯😯
there are three readings of why alicent tried to stop the guards from attacking the smallfolk: out of genuine kindness we know she does possess because of how she was in her youth but she’s lost more as she’s grown, she didn’t want the violence to escalate any more and was worried it would lead to her daughter being hurt, or, she’s suicidal and honestly doesn’t care if she lives or dies. probably all three tbh
It did escalate pretty bad. The Mistress of Whispers told Rhaenyra it reached the gates of the Red Keep.
I don't particularly root for Alicent. But, she does still care about people.
Now, Shitstain can feed the next dragon he meets. I hate that asshole.
@@scotthewitt258 Who are you calling shitstain?
24:28 Funny enough, and I'm dead serious, in the book Lord Grover Tully's son is Elmo Tully, known for his rich red hair. Elmo's sons are Kermit and Oscar, who are both rookie knights doubted for being "too green". And while Kemit Tully is friendly, Oscar Tully is known for being very grumpy.
The show combined Elmo and Kermit into Oscar.
Wow, so I was right!!! Thank you for this!
@@pReviewd You're welcome! Poor GRRM never expected his fun little Muppets lore easter egg to actually be on TV!
this episode is soooo good!!! insight into how alicent feels about her children and even her telling the guards to sheathe their swords was an act of kindness we haven’t really seen from her since she was a teenager. plus she has matching scars now with rhaenyra which is very interesting considering a canonically queer rhaenyra really recontextualises their very intimate relationship as girls. you guys picked up on the ‘sapphic vibes’ as you said in the very first episode and the creators have also commented that it was sort of semi romantic. i think the queer reading has always been there but them leaning into it is fascinating. people were shocked by the kiss but tbh rhaenyra always read queer to me. she’s always had a complex relationship with sexuality and especially gender. even in this episode she says she wishes she were a man. now i’m not saying that makes her trans i understand it’s because of the respect but she has always been a marriage of masculine and feminine as a character and emma d’arcy themself is non binary so it’s just very interesting. the themes of identity in this show are the best part imo, gender is such a huge part of the show. Mysaria trusting rhaenyra would be a good queen and opening up to her about something she’s never said before was really touching. some people are saying the kiss was out of place but i think it makes sense that these women who have had virtually no confidants or friends even since they were children would find comfort in one another.
I agree and I wasn’t surprised at all. I kinda got that vibe since their first long convo earlier this season and especially this episode. And it happens in the books from what I’ve heaed.
@@madelinegarber7860 i think it also helps that emma d'arcy could have chemistry with a plank of wood like they're so good
@@liamross340 they are! Seriously they’re the perfect Rhaenyra.
My only gripe with that scene is that it doesn’t feel natural or earned. I was picking up “we’re going to be good friends/allies” vibes from those two. At the same time, the dragons take what they want so I’m probably wrong.
@@mintybadger6905eh could e had a bit more build up. but they’ve been making pretty charged eye contact for a while
In Westeros Spicetown, dragon choose you.
24:25 funny thing is that Oscar Tully actually has a family member called Elmo
And Kermit
@@jasoncampbell5379 And the bastard, Cookie Monster Rivers
The Tully's have connections with the Muppets and Sesame Street, Kermit, Grover, Elmo and Oscar
I don't know if you guys have noticed this yet, but Abubakar Salim who plays Allyn of Hull is also S.I.L.A.H.A. on Critical Role: Downfall.
If you like him there, you should watch him on Glass Cannon playing Blades in the Dark.
@9:22 - a falconer is a person who works with or trains any type of predatory bird, eagles, owls, and hawks included ...
Adam, I got you on the Dinosaur ref.
I said last week, Rhaenyra needs to sneak in some food.
Yeah, her blockade is contributing to the famine, but the Greens feasting every other day and driving carts of dragon feed right through Flea Bottom is definitely going to irritate the Smallfolk.
As Ulf said, his brother would not be feasting while people are starving.
The Greens keep refusing to read the room. Rhaenyra, through her Mistress of Whispers, IS reading the room.
Contributing factor? Her blockade is the main reason the small small folk don’t have food.
Also while the greens are certainly still eating better than the small folk they are we have not seen them feasting like the madam claimed.
@@islasullivan3463the greens have also blocked anyone from leaving the city which is basically sentencing the small folk to starve to death.
@ Belladonna yes but that doesn’t really change that the main reason why they are starving is because of the blockade
@@islasullivan3463 there wouldn’t be a blockade tho if they hadn’t usurped her throne….
@@islasullivan3463 Which would be "contributing". The fact that you felt it was necessary to add a word to what I actually said to try and make it sound like I was downplaying it is interesting.
The Greens are feasting and feeding sheep to dragons. That ALSO contributes to the Smallfolk starving. Let's not forget that in the finale of GoT, some Lords were comparing the Smallfolk to horses and dogs.....
We have a historic small side alley in Swansea, Wales which is the wonderfully named Salubrious Passage.
Local lad Dylan Thomas paid homage to it when he wrote about a Paradise Alley in one of his short stories, as it led off the street where many of his favourite pubs were.
Adam: Guac's extra. But the gun show is free, baby!!!!!
Salubrious-adjective
health-giving; healthy.
"salubrious weather
I got it Adam as soon as you started. Open the door, get on the floor. Perfect for the scene
Adam you joke but in the book oscar does have a brother named kermit and his father is elmo they are muppet names
That seagull is a great misdirection for the jump-scare. Not only in the episode, but the first two reactions I watched, Seasmoke got me!
17:05 talking about Abubakar’s speaking voice. Me watching the current downfall arc on critical role: the accuracy cannot be overstated.
He's so good! You know he voices Grog's cousin Zanror in LOVM, right? I missed the first two eps of Downfall and need to catch up.
"Don't press on my McRib c'mon -ahh!" 🤣🤣😭😭
That wasn't Seasmoke in The Vale, he lives in Dragonstone.
Looked like lots of dead sheep to me...............
Falconer here. Still a falconer but owler is acceptable
She’s not being cagey, I don’t think she has a reason to tell her. Rhaena is just her cousins step-daughter basically, not her new bestie. Lady Aryn just seems the type to tell people as little as possible period. Don’t loose sleep over it
These guys and their reactions to HOTD has become my emotional support background noise. I love them so much!
24:22 Elmo is Oscar’s dad….and I think he is dead. But Oscar’s brother Kermit is ok. NOTE: this is not a joke…those are the names of the Tullys.
New fear unlocked for Jay... Mosh pits. 😊
also funny that you mention it, all of the tullys in the dance are indeed named after sesame street/muppet characters. kermit has a brother oscar, their grandfather was grover and their father was named elmo😹
So Alysen's youngest son is deft with his sword as his lute. Not to mention he is kind. Sounds like the same description for an important Targaryen.
Based on the preview, Oscar will in fact be quite grouchy.
*Seasmoke:* Laenor, there you are! Where have you been? ...And what's with the dye job?
Falconry {or hawking} is the term for hunting with any bird of prey. But, owling by an owlner sounds fun!
Do not skip to this point, watch the whole reaction first.... but don't be drinking or eating anything at 29:07 or you'll be cleaning it off whatever screen you're watching this through
Was that a "dragon-glass" dagger when he cuts his own throat?
I couldn't see clearly through the flames.
That would make ceremonial sense, though.
It's looking like dragons, much like cats, have a distribution system.
I nearly choked when you followed your comment about Daemon looking tired with another about Dr Who. Different Doctors, I know, but "Don't you think s/he looks tired?" really hit home. Just so long as he doesn't meet the same end as Harriet Jones!
I live beside lochness and couldn’t stop laughing when u said sea smoke was the lochness monster 😂 🏴 ole Nessie 🐉
24:29 No joke, in the books, Grover Tully's grandson is named Elmo Tully. He was cut from the show and they replaced him with Elmo's son Oscar as Grover's grandson. I think the Muppet names may have been too on the nose and may have had trademark issues or something...
Also fun fact, Oscar Tully's brother is named Kermit.
In the show Elmo is dead, very funny out of context
That kiss came out of NOWHERE
Loch ness monster, 3-fiddy joke, best thing ever
you 2 never fail to make me laugh my ass off. now im picturing a red quid sitting in a evil chair stroking a cat whilst chaos in the world ensues and it watches on from 100 screen monitors 😂
7:40 LOL…I saw that coming…and laughed out loud!
seasmoke: "why are you running? why are you running?"
interesting fact Alyn of Hull's actor Abubakar Salim is taking part of Critical Role's miniseries "Downfall"
It took me until this episode to realize that Lady Jeyne Arryn & Alyn of Hull were also the Mother & Father robots from Raised by Wolves.
Open the door. Open the door.
Odor?
🤣🤣🤣
Daeron, has a blue'ish dragon I believe also. Otto mentioned him earlier, Tessarion
20:19 Why am I not the least bit surprised that Jay was Barfee in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee multiple times? I bet he was just delightful in it! Shout out to my fellow theater nerds!
Oh no, oh no, Oh No, OH NO!!!!! omg I'm dying 😂😂😂
Rhaenyra's hitting King's Landing with the whisper campaign attack from Muppets Take Manhattan.
They've literally mentioned Daeron every episode this season
I don’t know about every ep lol but yes he’s already been talked about. Plus In the books.
17:03 Abubakar voices Grog's cousin Zanror in the LOVM animated series.
I only knew what "salubrious" was because its sounds similar to the spanish word "salubre"
😆
What percentage of the important dialogue would you guess you guys miss while trying to make jokes?
By Addam becoming a dragon rider, Rhaenyra now knows they can cast a wider net looking for others. They don't need to limit themselves to nobles.
I believe SheepStealer is the one wandering the Vale
There's him, Grey Ghost and Cannibal as super wild ones
And Vermithor, who Daemon sang to at end of season 1
21:13 the cricket scene is causing confusion. in Brazilian Portuguese (both dub and subtitle) it says the cricket won't stop singing, but in English it says "this one stopped singing". while we can hear a cricket singing (but I thought welp it's normal cause there's a bunch if them). now I don't know if she could have said "this won't stop singing". cause we were discussing what that could mean. the cricket stopping singing means one of the riderless dragons found someone and stopped crying?
Someone who trains/hunts with an owl is . . . a Falconer. The title includes falcons, hawks, eagles, and owls. Really felt like Mat was doing his best Macbeth this episode. So good. So good. Don't care if they change things from the books. Love everything they have done with the show so far.
Adam: you sent me down an owl rabbit hole! It seems anyone who trains raptors/birds of prey, is called a falconer, regardless of the species of bird. Raptors, themselves, fall into two clades: Australaves (falcons, but also parrots, jays, crows, sparrows & extinct flightless birds) & Afroaves (eagles, owls, vultures, hawks, kites, kingfishers, etc.)
8:30 I got your Dr. Who joke, Adam.
Thank you! I thought for sure Jay would appreciate it, but he missed it. Especially cause it’s Matt Smith, it worked on a few layers 😩
a glorious episode to be sure!~ thanks guys!
I've always wanted to do the finger temple of evil contemplation for some actual reason, I'm jealous of you guys lol
i’ve been waiting for this omg
Theater kid here and YES JAY I UNDERSTAND YOU
salubrious: health-giving; healthy.
Allot of folks reaction to sea smoke getting bonded with again whilst laenor is alive just goes to show why show and movie makers always need to assume their audience is stupid. The team for House Of Dragons didnt assume that, and figured theyd pick up on the fact Laenor died off screen by having Rhaenyra mention how sea smoke has been acting erratically recently. But alas, they were wrong.
Man Alicent constantly sticking her foot in it. If she just stroked Aemond's face and said she loved him it might have been different. He was softening until she brought up his trauma. Like...why?
Also I think Alys wargs into the owl. Like Bran with the crows.
I clicked this notification so fast😅
