  • PETG prints slower than PLA, but still getting 200mms sparse infill, 90 solid, travel 500 from this amazingly Quiet machine. Easy Assembly Core XY Kit. Love it.

    Wonderful print.
I'm planning to buy my own Troodon 2.0, how is your experience with the machine so far?
Thanks for reading, saludos desde México.

I learned a lot with my Flashforge Adventurer 4, but it was a "closed system". no customization or programmability, a non Direct Drive, long Bowden Tube printer with worm gear drive. It was easy to operate though after you understood its idiosyncrasies. All printers start like that, and you learn a LOT. I was attracted to the Troodon2.0 because it was a huge step up: in terms of size, coreXY architecture, and Open programmability. Everything it runs is GCODE assembled into groups of commands called "macros" you can view, edit and customize. I wanted that. As an early adopter there were issues: mostly a lack of documentation, and Formbot replaced the cable chain (needed an Ohm meter to diagnose that). This thing is like a Hot Rod, with a lot of new variables and complexity under the hood. At lot of folks on the FB group were modding the heck out of it and a support person was modifying the software a bit too frequently for my taste. I stuck with the original Stock software, which works fine, got me going, built up my understanding, and allowed me to customize it, exactly as hoped. It works GREAT but does need "set up". I kept good notes on everything I did, and you can read all about it here., This is the Manual I wish I had gotten. read Troodon 2.0 Setup and Tips... hope this helps: 1drv.ms/f/s!Arf1YeMUEh5Gm7dzpiLX8QrBFRzOPg?e=WSsfSv

is it still on stock firmware? Would you recommend this for a print farm that I need a printer to just print everyday with minimal tinkering?

Hi, yes this is (and still using) stock RepRapFirmware and PrusaSlicer. I don't know your background so to answer your real question, I came from using a turn-key Flashforge printer (closed system, no tweaking Pressure Advance, only speed/temp/retraction). I learned a lot from that printer, and there's "debugging" on every printer which is helpful learning experience, but the Troodon was a BIG step up from that. Now everything was potentially under my control, to customize Macros but also "figure out" stuff I didn't know.
Here, I need to update this, but take a look at this doc. See how you relate to what's said here. If you're not following this very well, I guess then you have your answer. 1drv.ms/w/s!Arf1YeMUEh5Gm7ki6f-CbtyqeoT2ng?e=tWLApa

I was considering a Voron as a hobby build and get it in my farm but I just don't have the time unfortunately then Troodon 2 came into the picture.
