You're a damn genius dammit! The shoshin belt idea is that, genius, I love it! This channel should really have more subscribers. 100K is a lot but it deserves more. Your ideas, philosophy and way of karate really is inspiring many people.

The belt idea is awesome! It's the opposite of people wearing black belts and then slowly wear off into white, how about concealing the embroidery too, and then when the name appears, it's like you have found yourself again...

The idea you bring with this belt, shows the humble and deep meaning you give to Karate, I dropped a little tear, just beautiful. That is what real Karate is about. Cool video!!!

    Love this

13:45 This part has got to be the best unintentional comedy I've seen in a while. You're walking up to your business partner with unzipped and undone pants while saying "So what do you think Marcus? Satisfied?"
All kidding aside this was a great video. I really learned so much from this on a conceptual level. These lessons can be applied to more than just karate.

As someone literally about to earn back their black belt (For the 2nd time) the Shoshin belt truly does encompass what I've found about getting back to basics to rebuild.

As an isshinryu style karate guy myself, this video really made me wish to dust off my gi and get back into practice. With COVID as well as everyday life, things tend to get in the way, but this channel has really helped me reignite the martial arts spark in my life. Thanks so much for the motivation. Subscribed and looking forward to more in the future. 🙂

    Congratulations on your videos!
I've been practically Taekwondo for 50 years and a researcher on the history of this art that goes back to Karate and I was very happy to see that you approach this historical context in your videos in such a natural and special way.
I would like to buy Seishin products and especially the Shoshin belt, a brilliant idea, for which I congratulate you, but I think that this brand is not yet in Brazil.

I’ve been a part of the martial arts for many years and I enjoy watching your videos. I can see the passion and respect you have for all martial arts, people, and countries. I truly enjoyed your videos in China and Japan, I’m a Martial Arts history buff and learned a great deal from the your visit to China. You should consider the martial arts in Africa and India for more history (quite interesting and you will find some similarities). Not many look to those countries for martial arts (typically Japan, China, and Korea). You are a true inspiration and role model for all of us Karatekas. May you and your family be blessed forever. My comments from a humble student for life.

  • @0smuzz0

I absolutely love the idea of the new belt. I must admit, one of the most liberating parts of my training after 14 odd years was when I stepped into a new dojo as a white belt - even though I am a first Dan - and earning my first couple of belts within that dojo (before the Sensei allowed my to wear my first Dan there). It made me appreciate my training so much more and helped me learn the value that the colour of your belt shouldn’t define you or your training. Martial arts should come from the inside, so it doesn’t matter what grade you are or even if you’re wearing a gi! Are those belts available now, Jesse?

Brillant thank you for sharing. I love that belt Idea I stopped were one along time ago and have recently introduced a belt progression to my program and have been wearing my old Brown belt instead as I and my student develop and progress through it your belt Idea makes perfect sense and matches my idea of not wearing it until one of my students reaches that level themselves. The core of the program is JKD & Kali but the belt system helps everyone including myself set goals and monitor progress. Your Belt would do the same for me as the instructor and developer of the curriculum.
