I'm a BU alum with a daughter at Merrimack and I'm just glad both teams made the NCAAs. Well deserved, Merrimack has a hell of a team, the whole is even greater than the sum of the parts. Quinnipiac will have their hands full!

Habs stole Hudson in the 2nd round. In a redraft now, he goes 1st overall.

I mean Hutson's been a monster, but no. Cooley, Nemec, Jiricek, Wright all still go over him. Hutson has been terrific though and would jump, but saying 1st overall is a big stretch.

@@Rangerstown00 Well, that is subjective. But this is my personal opinion. No one who came out of the 2022 draft has been as impressive as Lane Hutson. Granted, the guy has not played any NHL games yet so even though his potential seems high, it doesn't necessarily mean his play/potential will translate in the NHL.
Having said that, I can't think of anyone over the past year from the 2022 NHL draft that's shown so much potential. Definitely not Wright or Cooley and the others you've named. Wright struggled in the NHL (but that's somewhat expected as he's still young). As for the others, they haven't done anything that looks as impressive as Hutson so far. But, time will tell.

@@baiqi44 Hutson had a terrific season, don't get me wrong, but to say the others haven't shown as much potential is ludicrous. All the guys listed had better world junior showings and arguably all fared better in their respective leagues.
Nemec and Jiricek both had better world juniors AND have had strong success in the AHL, the 2nd best league in N/A as 18 year olds.
Wright also had a better WJC, and has lit up the OHL since returning.
Finally, Cooley is the one you're most wrong about. Nothing impressive? Cooley was the 2nd highest scorer in the WJC (Bedard), and was easily the best player for team USA. Cooley's also 2nd in the entire NCAA for scoring this season, behind Adam Fantilli, who's gonna go #2. All of this as an 18 year old. ANDDDD he's a Hobey Baker finalist, which Lane Hutson is not.
So Lane Hutson, who's had a terrific D+1, is absolutely not going #1 in a redraft rn.

@@Rangerstown00 Well, I'm looking beyond just one tournament. I looked at the stats and the leagues they played in and yes, Hutson has been the most impressive, which is why I said in a redraft, he should go No. 1.
Cooley has also been quite impressive as well. But, I took positions into account and why I would pick Hutson as the No. 1 over Cooley. But, there's no point in arguing any of this right now. We should come back to this in a few years and see who's right or wrong.
There's no right or wrong at this point because they're all prospects right now. You have your opinion and I have my. We can just agree to disagree and come back later and see who's right or wrong. Maybe they'll both turn out to be busts so who knows. If all GMs all agree, then in many drafts, there wouldn't be different No. 1 choices for different teams.

    • @Rangerstown00

@@baiqi44 You’re saying that since Hutson had a weak WJC. And the big 10 was better than HE this season, 4 teams that made the tourney compared to 2, and 3 teams that advanced to the regional final compared to 1.
Now positionally, Hutson’s not as good defensively as he is offensively, it’s not like he’s Adam Fox. Cooley centers the top line in the country, and is the best player on it. And then again there’s the Hobey Baker finalist aspect.
But both have had great seasons and likely should be dominant NHLers. Agree to disagree for now I guess.
