USA is just starting to become super competitive with Canada which is good for the sport, but USA will never be what Canada is in terms of talent.

In terms of shots and puck possession it was an even game but again I’m just blown away by the US team. They played a near on perfect game. Edit: Lot of americans claiming Johansson got manhandled in the fight after the game. The clip were Johansson is beating the living christ out of Hutson is all over the internet. Wishful thinking on your behalf. There was blood all over the ice, not a scratch on the Swedish player. Go and have a look.

Totally classless behavier by a couple of the US players, (McGroarty, Leonard and Augustine) If anything the swedes acted TOO passive to all the countless taunts. That performance by Team USA throughout the tournament was about as dominant as I've seen from an American team in a tournament. So many great young players. This one felt good as an American Hockey fan. Still feel cheated that we didn't get USA vs. Canada.
I can’t stand people saying that the last celly from the american player is “disrespectful” or “disgusting”. However, I can’t stand people saying that the Swedish crowd was obnoxious and hostile either. I’ve been living in Europe for the last couple of years and in every sporting event I’ve been to the fans are absolutely amazing in terms of creating an atmosphere, and that’s what it all should be about imo. The crowd becomes like an extra player if that makes sense. Of course the home fans (the Swedes this time) is going to taunt and try their best to get the opposing team out of balance mentally, and of course the opposing players, filled with emotion, are able to (to some degree) be cocky when things go their way. However, I still think that there needs to be some kind of humbleness when winning, especially in a final like this. And from what I’ve heard and seen from some of the interviews by the US players after the game there was none of that (I guess it’s only the videos that creates discussion that pops up into one’s feed, so don’t quote me too hard) Anyways, congrats to USA after playing such an amazing tournament, you guys deserved it! As an American hockey player (but very old!), I am so happy for the gold, but it did seem we were a little cocky after scoring. No wonder there was a fight at the end.
Mind games belong to the game, especially if 99% of the hall cheers for the opposing team. US team was the most mature in the tournament in every aspect, congrats from a Czech fan.

Love this game. USA definitely had the talent, depth and chemistry edge this go around. Great offensive skill. Sweden had a great run but came up short. Side note…Peter Forsberg is still my favorite NHL player of all time #21 🇸🇪

Following the NHL for 40 years, I can attest that these guys and tournament make the NHL look slow anymore. The talent and speed on every team is off the charts. Huge Kudos to the US Development program

Swedes had so many hot chanses. The way hockey is very small details that change a game. They reviewd the high sticki g on american but not the swede tha got the high stick 15 minutes earlier Swedes puck possession 80%. Great games!

US deserved the gold, just to bad we didn’t actually get best on best and Canada had its best but I understand why NHL teams don’t let those players go to the tournament and I bet if given the choice to go to the WJC or stay in the NHL most guys would choose to stay in the NHL, Especially cuz Canada won it last year and making the NHL has been the goal their whole life so going back to a junior tournament is almost like a demotion in the way.. maybe, if that’s how they feel, I would understand it, but damn that would be an exciting game, actually Canada’s best versus US’s best. Also, I feel for Sweden, It would’ve been really cool for them to win in front of that packed house! that’s rough but the US was dominant!!

As a Canadian what an absolute dominate performance by the Americans. Goaltending, defense and forwards were near perfect. No other team had their chemistry. Feel bad for sweden though. Never had a chance.
I'll take that last goal as an example. It was an empty net. But the player decided to pass to make sure that his team won. It was definitely a case with this team that the name on the front of the jersey was way more important than the name on the back

The thing that stood out to me, the only thing that separated these two teams, was skating ability. Specifically Team USA had some incredible defensemen skaters, which is rare in juniors. Seemed like it was easy to transition to offense and they were never under pressure with the puck. Hard for Sweden to get anything going when you can't take the puck off any USA player.

As an American hockey player (but very old!), I am so happy for the gold, but it did seem we were a little cocky after scoring. No wonder there was a fight at the end.
Mind games belong to the game, especially if 99% of the hall cheers for the opposing team. US team was the most mature in the tournament in every aspect, congrats from a Czech fan.

Love this game. USA definitely had the talent, depth and chemistry edge this go around. Great offensive skill. Sweden had a great run but came up short. Side note…Peter Forsberg is still my favorite NHL player of all time #21 🇸🇪

Very good technique and very skillful players but there’s no fighting character and fire in the eyes. All Swedish national teams (hockey, football and etc.) have the same problem and that is mental weakness.

Swedes had so many hot chanses. The way hockey is very small details that change a game. They reviewd the high sticki g on american but not the swede tha got the high stick 15 minutes earlier

@@RobertRaz-j2e we all see from our own perspective, but clearly USA was the better team as they won. But that doesn't take away the fact that it was a close hockey game up untill the last 15 minutes or so, both teams played well and had their chances. USA scored more goals and won.

US deserved the gold, just to bad we didn’t actually get best on best and Canada had its best but I understand why NHL teams don’t let those players go to the tournament and I bet if given the choice to go to the WJC or stay in the NHL most guys would choose to stay in the NHL, Especially cuz Canada won it last year and making the NHL has been the goal their whole life so going back to a junior tournament is almost like a demotion in the way.. maybe, if that’s how they feel, I would understand it, but damn that would be an exciting game, actually Canada’s best versus US’s best. Also, I feel for Sweden, It would’ve been really cool for them to win in front of that packed house! that’s rough but the US was dominant!!

As a Canadian what an absolute dominate performance by the Americans. Goaltending, defense and forwards were near perfect. No other team had their chemistry. Feel bad for sweden though. Never had a chance.
We are lucky with the NTDP these kids grow up playing together for 2 years and then often go to the same colleges after

I'll take that last goal as an example. It was an empty net. But the player decided to pass to make sure that his team won. It was definitely a case with this team that the name on the front of the jersey was way more important than the name on the back

Steve Miller the assistant coach for USA...absolute legend. David Carle's stock continues to skyrocket as a coach. Only a matter of time before the NHL is calling.
Does Carle really want to uproot his life and go to the NHL to get fired in a few years? Life seems better in college hockey. Not as much money, but far more stability for your family.
The thing that stood out to me, the only thing that separated these two teams, was skating ability. Specifically Team USA had some incredible defensemen skaters, which is rare in juniors. Seemed like it was easy to transition to offense and they were never under pressure with the puck. Hard for Sweden to get anything going when you can't take the puck off any USA player.
