Engine Rebuild on buggy, scooter engine, PGO 200cc GY6

Engine rebuild on a PGO BR200. Its been using oil and smoking a little so I changed the piston rings, valve seals and gaskets. Now its running like a new one!The buggy is available for rent in Cyprus at www.chrisandreourentals.com Check out my other vids!

Cyprus you can do lots of things that other places dont allow, even some illegal things you do and police see you they are like "we catch you later" because they cannot be bothered with the paperwork... I was once stopped because the van had no tax for 3 years and people inside with no seatbelts, no insurance and I could not tell them who the van belonged to and they let me go. He said if I see you again you will get a fine.

As i've not seen your bike I cannot be certain but it sounds like at some point you have ran short of oil or maybe its overheated. If this is so then the reason for white smoke while the engine is cold is that the piston rings have worn in and oil is passing into the combustion chamber. As the engine warms up the rings expand and closes the gap.

hey there thanks for answering, here is more info i just rebuilt the engine about 3 weeks ago, well i didnt do it a mechanic did it for me, he put new rings new piston and machine the cylinder head, then i already change the oil too and actually that was the problem right after i change the oil it started to smoke,and no there is no power loss what so ever, stars fine and everything,but like i said its white smoke not blue, not black, is white,and it only does it when its cold,thanks everyone,

@vaitomarnocutantofaz Not sure what you mean. The gearbox on this buggy has no neutral, but if you hold it in between the forward and reverse you can rev the engine without the buggy moving as if you are in neutral. The buggy won't start if you try to start it in this postion or in reverse. Never let go of the lever in this postion while revving the engine or you'll damage your gearbox. Make sure the engine is idling again before letting it go back into drive.

GY6 Piston is arrow down for exhaust! Please note in 1:22 as i've just removed the cylinder head and the arrow is pointing down... Also note the exhaust valve cut out on the piston is obviously smaller than the inlet... If the piston was installed with the arrow up then valve to piston contact would occur... Cheers "bro" but back to the books you go! :)

greasemonkeypol is right. When the engine is open just replace everything like the rings, all the seals and gaskets. Then you know that it's gunna be ok... Just like mine in this vid thats still going strong.

if you have new piston and rings white smoke is burned oil from the worn valve guides or the valves body could ba a damaged valve seal also

Do you have a noticable loss of power at top end? Is the engine harder to start? and does it stuggle to idle while cold? If so then you need to examine the piston rings and replace them. I recommend changing the piston as well.

@MrClayfingers This one had seen a lot of miles! Most of the time on the road 24/7, 365 days a year for the last 3 years! its been through a hell of a lot of shit and abuse! But yeah they are a great little engine...

@mogyver69 Sorry, I forgot to mention in my vid. 1st I did to 16lb then left for 10mins then to 25lb then to 32lb as it's 200cc. But if yours is 150cc then just 16lb then 25lb will do. Hope this helps! :)

hello there i have a question i have a gy6 150cc but mine, smokes, but the smoke is white, do you know what it could be,and it only does it when is cold,after it runs for a while it stops

Towards the front of engine. Not the rear.
