    Another one in the books! I really like out this one turned out and can't wait till the bolbitis grows up and out of the water... that' will take a long time though. I want to let this establish for a couple of weeks prior to adding anything... Dwarf Anchor or something else? Let me know!
    EDIT: I'm fine! I just tried to record my voice in a way that sounded less script-like. Always a work in progress 🤷‍♂️

      SerpaDesign, I read a bit about Hara jerdoni on German forums because I was thinking of getting a few. They need moving water and like currents. The recommended tank size is 60cm (about 23.5inch) width as a minimum and they apparently like living in groups.
      Your tank is beautiful but unfortunately not suitable for your anchor.
      Have you thought about aquatic insects? Like aquatic isopods?

      This is too dreamy 🥰 I like the not-perfectly-constrained Tanner❤️ and this nano tank is just dropdead gorgeous!! 👏 I have been wanting to see the catfish in just the right surroundings! If these are acceptable living conditions for those - pleease! Go ahead 😍 a perfectly discrete jewel! Just like you! 👍🏼😙❤️👌😄

    • @TheAquariumStalker
      @TheAquariumStalker 4 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      I agree with it. For any vertebrate animal I would not go under 5 gallons of water just because their metabolism is higher and they would produce too much waste for the amount of water available. (It would likely require daily water changes and would make it unstable, especially without a filter to hold all the denitrifying bacterias) Perhaps some shrimps would do, but I personally like it with some snails only.

    • @a.b.8080
      @a.b.8080 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I'm generally more concerned with quick temperature fluctuations. While in general animals and plants can thrive in more conditions than we give them credit for they love stability.
      In a centally cooled/heated animal room tho, it is fine.
      Plants simply will reduce ammonia significantly. I'd say don't underestimate them but on the other hand: Overestimating gives a margin for error.
      I'd include fare more fast growing plants for metal and nutrient removal. Small tanks need more maintenance.

    • @seangriffiths9163

    • @zacharyhenderson2902
      @zacharyhenderson2902 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@a.b.8080 I think you're giving plants too much credit here. They can remove excess nutrients, etc., but not very efficiently. One or two plants plus the floating ones wouldn't even offset the output from the snails.

    Hey Tanner @SerpaDesign I was wondering if you have settled on a stock option for this set up yet? I'm curious to know if there is no water flow or aeration how often would you need to change the water to keep it from going stagnant? Also when doing water changes on blackwater tanks do you use dechlorinated clear water only or do you make your "soup" and add more blackwater as well. As always another great video. p.s I don't know how I missed this one but I'm glad I went through my old notifications and found it, it was so awesome to watch.

    Everyone trying to judge Tanner's emotional state from his voice-over are out of line. You may not realize that sounding so upbeat and chipper is really hard with voice-over work. You have to act dramatically over the top when recording audio where the viewer can't see your facial expressions, and that can be tiring. You can't judge how a person's life is going just by the tone of their voice!

    I think maybe growing some brine shrimp in it would be a good idea, especially with it being unfiltered. A dwarf cat would produce too much waste I think and would increase the level of maintenance for such a small tank. Plus brine shrimp can be used as feeders for other small critters and fish fry so it would pay to have your own colony going.

    What do you think about shrimp? Any kind in particular you’ve had? Kinda remind me of slightly aquatic nano fauna haha I think you could fit 3 or so in that very comfortably

    Hey Tannar, try to put Greek subtitles please. I would be happy for that.
    Thank you for all videos ❤️😊

    I love DIY backgrounds, but find the idea of taking on a project like that very intimidating. It never occurred to me to do a tiny one like this to get my feet wet, so thanks for the inspiration!

    Here jerdoni really need 2.5 gal and I think they like a high o2 content so not sure how that would play out in that gorgeous little number though. I only keep nano fish in my tanks and none of them really work in that size or setup really. If it only were a little larger :) You could do dwarf shrimp though!

    Not here to criticize I think you sounded chill, but also I enjoy high energy tanner. Serpa style! Don’t let anyone get you down.

    So for Styrofoam and spray foam, I've been using a Dremel tool and it works really well. they have a cordless one that works so well I bought one for work and the hobby

    Not a good choice for this tank, but have you done anything with killifish? Still working though the back videos, and loving it. Lot of inspiration.

    The water is too black so plants might get some problem to get light. But don't take me seriously I loved the aquarium and the art of nature.✌️

    @SerpaDesign is that a special foam. Because regular foam should be toxic for plants and animals in the water!?

    I think because there is not much flow in the tank a * Trichopsis pumilus * would be a better stocking. And it would be a pretty small and cool fish for such a little set up

    I'd say maybe a few ghost shrimp.perfect habitat for them, and they'll actually take on some color in a tannin rich environment which helps to be able to see them, but they're always a hunt until you get up close.

    Couldn’t you just as easily used clay for the wall? Nice and organic material. Rather than synthetic foam

    I haven't watched all of your videos so unsure if you've tried it before or not, but wouldn't a low heat soldering iron be less messy, have the same effect, and have better control over what is carved out (re: the styrofoam)?

    Anyone wanting to do this, just remember not to paint the back of the foam. The foam will stick to silicon, but that pond sealant will not. I painted mine all over the first time, and within about a week it pealed away and fish got stuck behind it.

    I think a couple dwarf frogs would look cool in there or maybe a couple fresh water crabs. Or even a crawfish.

    In a nano tank how long are you waiting to stock it? I didn't see any mention of cycled substrate or other materials. Nice setup. Keep them coming

    So many chemicals, would you drink the water after you put it in, if not maybe your fish shouldn't either.
