  • Yet Another BenQ. This HT2050 was sent in for cleaning. I decided to do a deep cleaning (it needed it) and took care of the optic module as well. If you need to see how your 2050 or 2150 is built, this is a good video for it.
    This cleaning applies to multiple models such as the HT2050, HT2050A, HT2150ST, HT3050, W1110, and W2000. Same goes for the lamps. DMD part number for these is 1910-6039B
    Here is a link to a new lamp for the HT2050 and other models, Use code YT50 at checkout for 5% off.

    This is exactly the kind of video I like the most! Just give a working unit a good service to last another 5 years! Epic Frank!!!!

    Hey Frank, in your upcoming videos will you remind /warn people not to used compressed air cans for cleaning a projector, instead use a vacuum cleaner. 13:51 When I tell my customers the problem is not the lamp, the projector needs thorough cleaning, I often hear them say oh, yeah my projector is clean, I use air duster cans. That's how the projector should be nice and clean, press the power button hey presto.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very good idea. I will do a purpose video showing why and how. I dont usually record the vacuum or when I do use air because its so loud but if I do a video specifically to address this, I can do it properly. Thanks for this. Its past time to address this.

    i wish they would just put filters i have so many benq and they all had problems because of dirt

      Great idea. Could you not fit a fine mesh air filter ?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They used to. But most people neglected to clean them and theyd get totally clogged. Now they only install them when the projectors are sold in areas known for dust like the middle east.
      i like the idea of putting a chunk of aircon filter on the intake vents myself. it looks a little odd but at least you then have a filter.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      those open cell window unit aircon filters work well if you cut out pieces. I wish all these companies would treat dust more seriously but i suspect it helps them sell new projectors. I think my tinfoil hat is on too tight. :D

    Frank, I have picked up a JVC DLP 4K LX-UH1 projector, that has a lamp error LED on. It seems like the power supply is separate from the ballast, and there are 4 pins connecting the two boards together. Two pins are common/ground, and the other two have voltage going toward the ballast. One pin supplies 167V, and the other is hard to say what it has, it seems like it maybe AC voltage, because on DC it oscillates the meter?! It is roughly 6V. Did you ever repaired one of these? I would appreciate it, if you could point me to the right direction. It is power supply related, or ballast first. I assume ballast. Thank you, Tibor

    Frank, I have an Epson 5040ub that the optical engine is out. I’m struggling to find the part. Are you able to sell parts or do you ever take projectors to repair? Thank you for your videos!

    Thanks for your great videos showing and teaching us your expertise!
    Q1- What would you recommend most BenQ, Optoma or Epson? Any 4K models in particular?
    Q2- Hope I could repair my Optoma HD33. It started showing horizontal bars (semi-transparent) flickering. Like the screen is divided in 15 horizontal bars.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      BenQ and Sony. Epson and Optoma have declined too much in quality and service. I would not touch either.
      HD33 sounds like a loose connection between the DMD riser card and the mainboard.

      @@FixitFrankThanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I know you get a lot of requests...
      Ok, BenQ or Sony it is then. I trust you 100% on this.
      You are correct about my HD33. I fixed my projector a week ago by removing the top board and shooting some contact cleaner on all the connectors that looked digital, including the color wheel. I have not seen those bars since. With a new lamp, it looks amazing.

    How much to fix a benq tk850 color wheel the one it broke apart and pieces came out has a brand spanking new bulb in it since I wasn’t able to reset the bulb timer since I thought it was the bulb benq quotes me $200 even to fix including shipping.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is actually a decent price. those are fairly new so the color wheels are still on the pricier side. $200 top to bottom is probably about what it would cost most places. Depending on what the color wheel costs, I'd probably be in the $125+ the colorwheel +shipping and that would probably be around $200 as well. I'd take them up on the repair personally. Im having a hard time finding the right color wheel for the tk850

    Hello…
    I have a BenQ Tk810 and changed the color wheel because it was broken but installed a 6 segment color wheel instead of a 4 segment color wheel The seller said that it works too When I switch it on, only the Benq logo appears, then only a white image, no menu does anyone know what that is about?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought the original was 6 segments(4 colors, 2 clear). I don't think anyone is using 4 segment wheels anymore. I suspect you have another problem and the color wheel is not why you have a white image. If you see the logo, that means the wheel is probalby working fine. The problem you have might be something with a bad connection when you re-assembled. I would go back over your work and re-assemble it again and make sure all the wires and connections are exactly as they were. Otherwise a white screen is a mainboard issue of "some sort". Hard to say what without looking at it. I suspect you just have a cable or connector that isn't seating properly.

    Not related to this video but where do you find your parts? I might need a replacement power supply for a optoma hd28dse. Waiting on a second bulb to see if I got a faulty one or if it's another issue.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on the part. Something like that I would get from an erecycler. Gydz@timeprojectorlamp.com
      Check your color wheel too. Those are known for losing the little sticker and then the lamp wont start.

      I've tried to reply a few times but it never shows up for me. hopefully not spamming you, maybe the replies were too long or maybe I cant post links. The gist was firstly thanks. Second, do I just email them with an inquiry about parts? The only options I can find are from the same seller on aliexpress and ebay for $120 out of china. @@FixitFrank

      oh if there is a link showing or certain words, the post gets bounced. Its to prevent spam. But yes, its seriously as easy as contacting that email and let them know I referred you. Then include a picture of the old power supply. If you're in the USA, I think I have some used/good power supplies of that type. I don't have an email here (too many emails) but if you want to leave me a throw away email I can contact you on, then I will get you my info. Im in South east PA so I can ship anywhere in the lower 48 without issue.

    • @coreyhunter5404
      @coreyhunter5404 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That would be great. I'm in Kentucky so I'd definitely take you up on that if the second replacement doesn't light. Went with projector lamps usa this time. About the color wheel, I'm pretty sure I can hear it spinning but haven't kept the door off with the lever triggered to actually see. I'm still really new to all of this and I admit I might be jumping the gun looking into the next possible problem. What worries me is that even though my first replacement was a jaspertronics from ebay, I know better now, and the shipping box and light box were heavily damaged, the light did nothing at all. It didn't appear damaged, it also didn't light at all or show any indication it was getting power. Guess I'll know for sure in a week or so when the next light arrives.@@FixitFrank

    Hello Frank, I have a Panasonic PT-4000 that has always worked perfectly, during a move in which I transported it without knocking it or anything it stopped working, I turn it on and then it goes into a kind of protection mode with the light power turning red and the lamp light turning red. I already tried to change the lamp and my technician asked me to buy another defective unit to test the ballast but without success either, could you help me?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, sorry for the late reply. Catching up today. Is the light flashing in any sort of pattern? I doubt its the ballast. They wont fail being moved. My money is on loose "something".

    • @AudiophileCave
      @AudiophileCave 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@FixitFrank When turned on, it has the normal status light flashing until it is time to turn on the lamp and the lamp light starts flashing red, but the lamp is not there. I have already installed 2 others to test and the defect remains. My technician who examined it said that on some occasions it turns on and stays running for up to 3 hours and then goes back into this red flashing lamp light mode. I tried restarting it several times but it never turned on.

      Interesting. Is it a ptae4000 or ptd4000? If it's the d4000 the color wheel is suspect. If you are able to connect it to a network you might get more diagnostic info via the web interface. If you get really stuck and are okay with shipping it, I could look at it.

    Have a 2050A. Opened it to fix loose audio connector. Removed pc board, fixed audio connector, reassembled. Powered on without case on bench and all was OK. Back into case and won't complete power up sequence. Opened again, checked everything 6 times and am stuck. I know color wheel isn't spinning at all. Checked all connections to the color wheel ribbon through the pcb connector. All appears ok there. I can troubleshoot and have test equipment. Where do I look? THANKS

      @FixitFrank  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd download the W1070 service manuals. They will work for the most part for the 2050. At least they will tell you the general idea. I dont know what is specifically happening with you, but I would start at the power supply and work my way in. See if you have your voltages and if the parts are responding as expected. Then you should be able to find where its acting up.

    Do you have a business email? I have a Mitsubishi HC4000 that likely needs a new color wheel. I usually fix my own stuff watching online vids, but there's nothing out there for the HC4000 sadly. Maybe if I send you mine, you can post a repair vid for all the HC4000 owners out there ;)
