Thank you, thank you, thank you! So sensible. So reasonable. So do-able. I think I’ll be returning to this video over and over again to overcome procrastination and fear. Just a beginning quilter, afraid I’ll never manage to sew a straight seam (they’ll all be “squint”), or be able to select colors/patterns that belong together, or have the eye to select thread colors compatible with the quilt top, etc., etc. You give me hope . . . . An a bit of courage!
I watched this quite smugly, thinking I don't have lots of WIPs, I only have 2 quilts in progress ☺️ But then I looked at the basket which has at least 7 Planned Projects ! Each plastic bag containing the fabric and pattern all ready to go, but being continuously added to 🙄 So I am not buying any more fabric until these are done!! Thanks for the inspiration 😊
I confess I do that as well. I have 2 in boxes with fabric and even printed the patterns out but that never quite make it to the cutting table. Good luck with your projects, the ban on buying fabric can be a powerful motivator to finish projects fast 😂😂😂
Thanks for your comment! It's amazing what's going on under the surface and once you start looking you never know what you will find. Thanks for watching!
always happy to see your vids! I like your definitions of WIPs vs UFOs, although to be honest, if the top is done, it's finished, for me. I'm a piecer and I don't always have a reason for making a quilt other than I like the pattern, so unless I want to use the quilt myself, it's easier to store as a top until I have a reason to get it quilted. Also, I've seen the 'do the most dreaded first'... some people call it 'eating the frog first'. I tend to try to do that, when I'm pumped up to clear out UFOs. If something is SERIOUSLY dreaded, I have to question if it's just worth finding a new home for it instead of wasting time that just really eats at my soul.
I think I might be a secret piecer myself, doing the quilting has never really excited me. My dreaded quilt is a house warming gift so I have to/want to do it, but not knowing how to quilt it has left it languishing in a pile. However It will be done, soon, hopefully :-)
Love your videos! I think I was in denial a bit “I don’t have any WIPS!” But then I spotted a couple quilt tops not sandwiched… and there is a project up in the closet…I think I better make a plan! 😬
Great advice. I call my WIPs something different....PHDs (project half done). That way when someone asks "So what have you been up to?" I can say "Working on my PhD!"🤣🤣🤣
Forgive yourself, no "should" statements (I should have done this or that etc), imagine working through the task...are the things I have been trying to work on
Such great advice on UFO's! Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Thanks so much! My problem is just STARTING a project out of fear as you mentioned. And I could never hate you.
THe fear of the first cut of fabric, I still suffer from that one quite often too. I need to work on that one. Thanks for watching!!

Thank you so much!!
This is a good reminder to me…a fear of failure is a huge stumbling block for me. Thank you for this fantastic video

I can relate to your plight!

A bigger motivation is the Very Thrifty Husband at my shoulder, " Do you need that?", 🥰 although he supports my sewing 100% and Always Unpicks. 🤗
Really good advice for everyone. We all have blocking thoughts and habits that hold us back. A lot of things we think are so unimportant

Just found your channel. You have such great ideas.
This was great!
Thank you!
I really like your advice, however I find the background music too distracting. Thank you
Ok, thanks
