Hearing him talking about leading a team of Google coders and having the experience of uptight, fancy restaurant, man, it really does mature him up in my eyes. I think it's probably something about being up to some sort of pressure and leadership. Amanda as a reporter sounds legit. I kept thingking "if she left reporting then she must be really bad at it."

    • @rhettmitchell
      @rhettmitchell ปีที่แล้ว +5

      She said she was mostly writing though and mostly didn’t even do reporting. I’m assuming what we saw is most of the on-camera stuff she had

    • @jacforswear18
      @jacforswear18 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@rhettmitchellshe had talked about it elsewhere and if I understood correctly her tapes were essentially self-tapes that she had to make on her own time to try to break into doing on-camera work. I don’t think she ever had network camera time. Which makes it even more impressive if she was writing, setting up, and filming on location solo.

    I feel like Shayne needs to realize he's much more than an actor at smosh, considering all the projects he works on and collaborations he does and the planning for different projects. SHAYNE YOU'RE NOT JUST AN ACTOR and I say that with love and respect.

    Having a group of people to help you edit and help you find out what's good and what isn't is great. As someone who did a creative writing degree, I benefited a lot because of it ( even if I couldn't do it in my last year because I was at home most of the year and no one did it when they weren't in person and we didn't have zoom calls either at least for novel writing but we did for screenwriting ) and I loved it so much, cause it showed what people liked about the story and what they didn't an it just helped my creative process a lot

    With Chanse having a great food background (and now that flashback has been moved to the main channel) y’all should bring back/revamp the sandwich artist show as a podcast! It was short lived but I really loved it. And it seems like a lot of other people at smosh love food too so it would be perfect!

    My first job was at an Auntie Anne's. Time flew while working because all the bosses were cool. The best bonus is the frosting had to be tossed after exploration. They came in these plastic bags about 8 pounds each. I took them home so I could make my very favorite pretzel: jalapeno raisen with frosting

    8:00 In my experience yes, service jobs do have common pains and obstacles, but I'd take it further and say that there are common pains in service that translate into other occupations, even office jobs. I work IT, and the field is always portrayed as one with no soft skills like customer service, but those skills learned working in restaurants definitely have been fundamental to my own career. In both jobs I have to keep my cool under the scrutiny of difficult customers, adapt to rapidly changing environments, and balancing the stress of all that without completely losing like the guys in the kitchen or network operations.
    Shayne is 100% correct that service skills translate within the field, but those same skills can be absolutely foundational in so many other fields that I firmly believe everyone could benefit from spending a summer in a restaurant.

    15:55 My dad has this grill-thing that you plug into an outlet. You put the meat on the grill, close the lid, and hit the steak (or whatever meat it is) button, and it cooks it perfectly. I used it all the time to quickly cook chicken, and I loved it.
