      I wonder how many people remember Seabury Quinn. Apparently, at one time his stories in Weird Tales Magazine were more popular than Lovecraft's works. Cheers. E.E.F.

    Just now found and listened to this story. It leaves me at a loss for words. Would like to hear other stories by this author. As always your narration of this story is in its self like cool water and shade on a scorching hot afternoon.

    I’m sure they preferred to drown in mud rather than be rescued, it’s not as of the genius Jules De Grandin could have possibly restored their forms, or failing that, returned them to the care of their families where they might have enjoyed their families, music, food, comfort, or prayer in their disfigurature.

    Maestro French, is there any chance you could do Margery of Quether by Sabine Baring Gould? Of all the TH-cam narrators I think you would have the most fun with it. It’s a delicious opportunity for your myriad voices. Ty!

      Hello. I'm curious. I'll have to look this one up. Never heard of it. You may have noticed that most of the Fiction Fantastique audios are of VERY OLD books so that I can avoid copyright infringement. We'll see what the deal is with this one. THANKS for the suggestion. E.E.F.

      @ this is a 19th c story. You should definitely be acquainted either way Baring-Gould. He studied old folklore (werewolves and vampires, etc). Dug up really bizarre and curious historic events and wrote ghost stories. He also wrote “Onward Christian Soldiers!”

      @@FrenchEdward06 there’s a narration about a real life Christian cult in 19th or 18th c Germany where everybody ended up willing bludgeoning each other to death. Good stuff! It’s in one of his books on manias.
