I had been contemplating whether to buy Palma 1 since it's released. I didn't and just knew about Palma 2 a couple days before it's release date. Now that I have Palma 2, I am very satisfied with it. I usually carry a phone in pants pocket and additional device in my chest-bag so it's not a problem. One thing I have noticed before is that when I use my phone as an all-in-one device, I didn't get to use it much because of battery constraint and form factor.
this 2nd gen is perfect. i don’t want one more layer either for color or note taking. i love the crisp display. i don’t want sim,so they can add a few hundred dollars on top which no phone company will work with it. i can just use blue tooth connect with my phone when i am out. i got it a few days ago. i enjoy it very much.
Unless it’s in there and no reviewer has shown it, seems like an oversight not to allow multifunction buttons to be mapped as playback controls for music apps. Could be an E-Ink DAP with great battery life.
This feels like an iPod Touch type of device, but with an e-ink display. Honestly, I might get this device. The small size is so convenient for reading. Also, if the device “being a phone” is such an issue, why not just get something like WhatsApp or TextFree that will let you contact people for free? TextFree will even come with a phone number. Unless those kind of apps are not available for the Palma, then I understand the complaints. But I still don’t have a need for this device to be a phone at all.
Does anyone know if the white Palma 2 still has that issue where a white border appears around the screen in dark mode, like in the Kindle app? I know the black version doesn't have this problem, but I much prefer the white color. Has Onyx fixed this with the Palma 2?
why make this without a sim card slot? i think there is a real market for e-ink phones for those of us who want to cut down on screen time and reduce eye strain. right now i don't see the point of buying this. why pay so much more for a pocket sized e-reader (the much cheaper kobo clara 2e can fit in your pocket too) when you have to carry around your phone anyway?
Can you bold the font in the Kindle, Kobo or Nook apps? Add weight to any of the fonts. You can in their specific ereaders. Wasn’t sure with their apps on the Palma 2.
I guess in Asia there’s still a market for an iPod Touch style device. Which is fine, but a bit disappointing from a western perspective that they haven’t made it an actual phone.
Exactement.
@n0nchalant39 well why bother with all that, it'll be nice to have sim card, but even if they don't, i don't think it's a con anyway, it's not like they claim palma is a smartphone.
Probably should put this comment on, I don't know do you have forums? But, the Hisense 5, and 7 color for me, did not even compare, to the Onyx Air 3. In the fast mode. Because, that's functionality. The still, clarity is wow, now. But, I need to use for my health, Neuro Nation. I need it in color. A want, like I wanted that day I viewed that Sony first e-ink device in a store. Just wow. I know for a fact. That, those devices from 15 years ago, performed nicer than anything on the market. Except, maybe Hisense. No products in color from them, in "years". Uhm, the stipulation was upgrading the first version of Android to the second, or at the very most, a little more. I know. Because, I "destroyed" perfection, to get a teeny tiny amount more, from those gorgeous devices. Nothing like it since. Just relax, "sun-bathe", a "dream" of mine to do. Appreciate life. Full video, it all. I need the way Neuro Nation functions normally. Anything, you recommend, in color, I will buy. Don't get arrogant. But, the two of yours passion for mine, makes you, like my best friends.
@@goodereader Do you complain that a Kindle doesn’t have a SIM card when you make a video about it? It's the same here; the Palma just has the form factor of a phone for its portability and discretion while traveling. Some people don’t necessarily want to have just one smartphone that is bad at everything, like the Bigme HiBreak. For example, I want a Palma to read easily while commuting on the subway. But if I want to take a photo, I have my iPhone for that; I don’t want to have the old photos from the Bigme HiBreak.

Feeling great about my recent purchase of the Palma 1 used for $150 :)

why cant ereader companies upgrade android version?
Hi. I love all your content. But couldn't you just install cpu z or similar software and simply check what cpu they use?
Could you comment on if the processor upgrade is noticeable between palma 1 and 2? Is the Palma 2 noticeably faster and less laggy?
Yes, you can. CPU-Z reports as Qualcomm Snapdragon 150G @ 2.07Ghz.
750g ?
@@hosammansor6631Right, it's 750G. Probably misstype the number.

Such a shame there’s no sim. Would’ve been an instant buy for me.
Please use the browser, and scroll fast and slow with every eink refresh setting. So we can see the improvement of the CPU.
What we need is a successor to the hisense A6L

Neo Reader app (default reader app) in Boox can bold the fonts. I have Nova Air C and Palma 2.

Why is it impossible for eink makers to have Android upgrades?

I'm considering between white vs black, can anyone suggest for me right thing to choose?
Based on this review i would choose the black colour because the black shadow will be less prominent .
Not everone wants this as acphone we already have that we want a pocket ereader.

solid review, true it'll be nice for it to have sim card, but it'll be harder for them to deal with every rules each region have for the sim card thing.
It could work for them to have another Chinese phone company make an oem phone ....or maybe not.

Title is a little click baity since it's not a phone at all. Unless using whatsapp. :)
