- In this Rum Review video, while I do have a Review on Ron Cubay Cuban Rum, I actually chat more about whether you need to invest in Every Rum in a Range. I used Ron Cubay Rum, but I could've used El Dorado or Doorlys in this Example. For me, each Rum has it's own job, but do you actually need to buy them all? So you could call this a Rum Comparison video.

US drinker here. Thanks for the overview of a good Cuban rum line. Even though Cubans are not available here, it's hard to wrap your head around the rum world without understanding the Cuban legacy.
I know I‘m late to the party but I want to answer your question nonetheless. I don’t like to buy more than two bottles of a company’s range if they are bottling a single distillery only. No need for 20 Foursquare products (ecs, doorlys, McCoy etc…). But if there is an IB that fits my palate I‘m happy to have many of their bottles. In Germany the Rumclub bottling from spirit of rum are a prime example. But also IBs with a broader availability like CDI, Rum Nation, Romdeluxe etc.
Plantation is a different story, I‘m not really into their stuff but always try to have the 3 stars and OFTD at home. Great mixers and the rest of their range is also great for people with a sweet tooth who’d like to explore different styles of rum

i'm usually on a particular type of rum from various brands, rather than a whole bunch from one brand, but i did buy a fair few from the DMF range and I'm eyeing up lazydog for potentially silver to start with then possibly picking up the others but its more just to taste, i always want something new!

Thanks Pam. Honestly. I’m finding Cuban really funny with you lot. There’s the group that really just can’t get on with Column still. It’s all Barbados or Jamaica pot still. Then there’s the polar oppo, people that just love Column. There’s No in between 🤷♂️😂
For £100 I would buy foursquare rum. I have doorlys 5 and 14 as the 5 is an everyday drinker and the 14 is a special occasion pour.

and all I can say is wow the 1st Cuban rum I love am surprised how much I like it
It’s good innit. That’s the one I refer to as probably CBP (it got released back in the day as Cuban Barrel Proof) and I loved it. Now I TRY and call it SDM (Seleccion de Maestros) but the CBP is hard to forget. 🤦♂️😂

I know. Algorithms innit. I promise you “rum tastings” just wouldn’t work. No one comes to check out a tasting. But people always want a review.
I have 7 of the cubays which is largely your fault, a couple of legendario’s and even a Ron Mulata. I really should visit Cuba, the one other distillery and country that really interests me is Traveller’s in Belize, have a few will get more.
By the way the Carta Dorada made a fine base for my sloe rum

Suave just adds a fruitier sweeter tone to drinks. It works with all kinds. Cocktails from last night. Cokes and Gingers. I actually really love it with a simple Pineapple Soda.

Hi Steve. Loving your work. You obviously have a great relationship with Masters of Malt. Have you thought of asking them for a discount code for your viewers? Something like STB50 would be great!!!!
LOLS... Anyone that knows a bit about Spirits, will know there's zero margins for discounts from wholesalers! They work to about 5% profit margins if that! The best you can do is the Prime Delivery! which gets you free delivery! £20 a year. But never except any discounts on any proper Spirits! It's impossible!
