    This is the beauty of living in an area with like-minded individuals who you can share your hobbies with. We could tell you guys finished those drinks. Words got a little slower at the end😂😂. Great stuff. 👍🏾

      haha yeah things got a bit more loose towards the end. That's what 57.1% abv will do to ya

    I would pay good money to make AND drink cocktails with you guys. What a blast and also educational.
    I bought my first bottle of Rum Fire recently. Going back to a previous video, that aroma is indeed from another world. I half-remembered a video on Rum Fire cocktails and by coincidence found the Rum Firewalker collab with Derek. Laughed out loud to myself that it has 3oz of Rum Fire. Enjoying one now and it's only Wednesday. Cheers, @therumrevival!

      Thank you and I can't think of a better way of enjoying a WEdnesday then by drinking 3oz of Rum Fire haha Cheers!

    And now we have an overproof El Dorado! That's it, these two predict the future.

    For me, to be honest, the question mostly ends up being: is it at least as good at its job as -Plantation- Planteray OFTD? Because if there's more than one high-proof Bajan (or mostly Bajan) blended rum out there, and they're priced basically the same, and one producer is all in favor of a strong Barbados rum GI while the other's been pushing against it... well...

    El Dorado 12 at navy strength (or 50% for that matter) would be an absolute banger

    • @therumrevival
      @therumrevival  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely! At this point I’d even take 43% lol

      @@therumrevival for sure! I tend to stock the 15y rather than the 12y, which honestly has more to do with the three additional abv points than the the three additional years of aging..
      I think Velier, among others, has already had a positive impact on contemporary rum, but I'd love to see the ">46%, no additives, non chill filtered"-trend we're seeing in the single malt world spread even more. We need more Hampdens lol

    • @therumrevival
      @therumrevival  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mathiesgrindsted5883 well fingers crossed that rums starts inching in that direction. More hampdens indeed!

    This is an incredibly valuable and informative video format! Especially coming from two guys who really know their rum and can speak to the subtle nuances of what makes one rum different from another and how it works in a cocktail. Please make more videos similar to this with different bottles of r(h)um that are just outside of common knowledge!

    I cut my rum teeth on Eclipse and went through a few bottles early on, but the more rums I tried the less I regarded it. Now I think it's mediocre, and tend to avoid it. It's just too thin with too much harsh ethanol on the nose. For these reasons I'm not rushing out to buy Navy Strength, though I'm glad it's out there and look forward to trying it someday. Your video did nothing to change my mind, and I appreciate that fair take, when it could have felt more like a paid promotion.
    Bold move with the Caribbean Punch! Love that one. Cheers

    • @therumrevival
      @therumrevival  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, thin and too much ethanol are spot on. The Navy Strength isn't thin but still has that harshness. Regarding the Caribbean Punch -i think i started really getting into it halfway through the drink. Intrigued in trying a more balanced version of it.

      The standard Eclipse is fairly dry, and because of that it blends very well in most rum punch recipes. I don't like it neat.

    Hamilton Zombie rum is one of the best cheapy rums and about $35 for a 1 liter bottle. I was surprised how good of a sipper it was for the money

    We do need the rum distilleries to take note of some of the bourbon techniques of single barrel, barrel proof, and Bottle in Bond certifications. Though I think the añejos need to really test their aging for like 7 or 12 years. Where are the spirit sweet spots?

    • @therumrevival
      @therumrevival  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think we'll start seeing some of that. It will of course come with price increases, but I think thats only fair

    I will be buying a bottle just for the last reason you mentioned. I want higher prof versions of things we already have, and if this is popular it might get the ball rolling. Heck it has already happened with Foursquare and the Doorlys
