This song was recorded in a bar with a cellphone and it is still perfect. Crazy Talented. He wasn't even supposed to sing. They just asked him to go up and sing without his band.
Imagine if they planned this performance with his band. I love the star struck bass player in this vid.

The band is called the Shadowboxers and they have their own channel on TH-cam. Like someone said below Chris was in the audience and was talked into coming up to sing and jam with them so he did. That's why you see those expressions on their faces, lol!

I think you have about as big as a compliment as you can. When your not thinking about it being a cover. Some ppl two words in to a cover and it's like ahh nah, this ain't it. Many times you can try and appreciate that they are just paying respect or homage but others it's like nope. Then there are the very few like this, Soul is Soul.
Certain artist you just don't touch unless your elite. Chris is one of the few that can.
It's funny watching ppl on these talent shows and for their first performance ever are gonna sing Whitney Houston lol.

The man's a freak. I have yet to hear him not sound great. He doesn't need production or autotune. Put him in the kitchen, put him on the porch, put him on the corner, he's going to sound good. You may want to check out Marcus King. He's walking the same path of blues and soul music. He's only 24, but he's had his band since he was a kid. He was supposed to tour with Stapleton, but it's on hold. Check out his song Wildflowers and Wine. You'll hear a lil Stapleton and a lil Ray Charles and a whole lot of talent and soul.
