From its origins as the first minted currency in ancient Turkey to its role in today’s hyperinflation scenarios, gold has proven its enduring utility and value. We explore how gold provided a lifeline during Germany’s hyperinflation in the 1920s and how it continues to safeguard wealth in modern-day Turkey amidst economic turmoil. Join us as we uncover why gold remains the ultimate financial safety net, transcending generations and geopolitical boundaries.

    It is time that we change our thinking from price to value.
    Price is what you can get for dollars.
    Value is what you get for real money, gold.
    Measure Your Wealth in Ounces, Not Dollars.
    Something most Americans don't understand.
    Thanks for this video.

    Silver has been around a very long time too. Gold has been called the metal of kings and emperors. Silver has been called the metal of the poor working man.

    I always thought the Mesopotamian Shekel was the first "money" and was to note the transaction value of barley. Maybe not. It would have likely been silver to my understanding, eventually leading to gold. Silver was easier to find and manufacture (unless you were in Egypt). Gold became the standard for some times as we know. It is funny to note that the scarcity of silver in Egypt led to a time where it was more valued than gold. Some experts believe that the ability to entertain and show off the building of your elite spaces led to the value of gold and silver...Things like candle holders and guided statues were a flex of the leaders of the original leaders of empires and thus adopted elite value....So many cool paths of history that got us here today!

    Turkish inflation has been under reported since 2021. Government replaced the people (Institute of Statistics) who measures inflation and instructed them to under report, because government has to adjust all salaries, pensions by the inflation every 6 months. This way people's salaries increased much less than inflation and it cost the ruling party of 22 years to lose the local elections. There are research groups and universities measuring turkish inflation at 130% today not 68%. The houses I bought for $42K in Turkey now sells for $120K in just 3 years, there is the real evidence

    Money forms as a natural market process to facilitate exchange, savings and investment; no government is required to instill it. Even in prisons, the most highly regulated economies in existence, money has formed in the form of cigarettes, stamps, etc. Gold has just had the best properties to serve as money and thus, it has become money over and over again.
    Even in times when it is not used as money, it is recognized as valuable and displayed as a signifier of wealth. Its utility as jewelry is at least as old as its utility as money. And in times when fiat currencies fail, it becomes a store of value everyone seeks until it becomes used as money again.

    There’s only one currency with intrinsic value and it’s the work of young men. You would know that if you studied history and weren’t trying to hedge your bets

    • @tightwad
      @tightwad 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'll bite, how is the work of young men the only currency w intrinsic value?? What age is no longer young, 30? Is young female work worthless? Young men can be out-worked/skilled by 60yr olds, so is there some quantitative value only young men add to their work ? What if a young Trans-Male does said work? I do concede that Men can do most things better, faster, and some work that no women seem capable of. And how is said work $Currency.
