Accidents? You mean losing my eyesight? I already did that on another video. Not to mention that I lost ¾ of my brain cells also from other videos. Joking aside, how could I get an accident from a video?
You all probably dont care but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my login password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Phoenix Mekhi thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Yeah, i'm interested in these kind of things. It's not because i'm the captain that i'm not allowed to start the engines :) But eventually the engineer needs to be present at all times to keep everything going while sailing.
The strange sound is that of the generator kicking up juice, this camera detects the noise . Same thing can happen with older car engines, when the alternator is turning. Nice ABC start, love these start ups.
By the looks of it, the small red things between the main engines are the auxiliary power generation. Usually you will always have one of these running. If these fail an emergency generator will kick in with in 15 seconds. The emergency generator must have two means of starting (by battery, by hydrualic, by crank handle, by compressed air for four examples). Also you may have a small crank start diesel air compressor which will allow you to start your generators in the pitch black.
Reminds me of me being on board a small military ship as a technical crew. The process of starting up the generators and main engines are really similar.
@goodgodzilla : hehe thanks :) Is the sound also messed up for you? I don't know why that happend. The original file does not have it. Only on youtube the sound got messed up
@@gradientgamer5480 An engine that size would require a massive motor to turn over, with a power draw on the order of thousands of amps (your average car pulls several hundred amps when you start it). That means bigger/more generators, beyond what the ship needs for its normal power draw. It's lighter and more economical to use compressed air.
At the back of the engine room, what are those 2 big blue things? Also, where the generator start switch (box or panel) is, is that red thing beneath it the generator for the electricity for when the motor is on?😐
Shipping/Harbors I really like your starting engines videos¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Thank you very much¡ I am a marine engine student here in Spain and i like so much these videos, i learn alot of them Please upload more videos like this if you can please ;)
Yeah, max rpm is 1000 and lowest (to start them) is 500rpm. Im not the enginneer on board but the captain :) But i love to start those engines from time to time :)
Those are Alco based engines I am sure. Listen to an old Alco locomotive and it sounds the same. Also Alco used the single cylinder head setup on all of their engines. The 251 was nearly bullet proof and very easy to repair if it needed it. Alco licensed it engines for use in many applications. Montreal Locomotive Works owned all of Alco's patents after Alco quit the US. It is rumored that Alco engines are being produced in the Us again for use in gensets, tugboats and even locomotives.
+railbus5 ABC is a old Belgian company, designing themselves their 1000 RPM engines. These are DZC 8 cylinders in line. ABC bought licenses to German companies only for the 1500 RPM engines (not longer produced). Surely there are similarities in conception shared with several other diesels: the single cylinder set concept has been used by numerous companies since almost 100 years. ABC makes also multi fuel diesels able to burn vegetable oil, animal fat and more.
@Vidsandso : Depends on the situation. Because the engine is starting at low rpm the oil pressure is not high enough in the beginning and this will result in "low oil pressure" alarm. As soon as the normal rpm is reached the pressure is normall.
The Tugboat for it's size is the most powerful craft afloat and the Star Tugs are the power behind the docks and water ways that make up the Bigg City Port. This is tugs.
30 bar is the pressure of air. Thats 435 psi of pressure, approximetely 15 times higher pressure then a car tyre. You need a lot of air pressure to push the pistons of the engine fast enough to make it turn and create compression for combustion.
Hi, I'm seventeen and want to buy a tugboat someday: but what do I do to get the appropriate experience? The closest experience I have to this is with towing/transporting cars and maintaining the trucks lol
very clean and modern engine room!, could you tell me the specs on the mains and gearboxes? figured probably 1500-2000 hp each, on the inland rivers here in the us, we are still using alco diesel engines, makes our engine room look pathetic after seeing yours... you can check out my vid if ya get a chance...
OH...MY BAD...I assumed....pologize Capn.! Are you the cook too ? (Joke) ! Can I get a job scrubbin the deck ,not that it needs it...very clean ship you have there ! I am a Mariner at heart and will work for food ! ha ha ...seriously though...Nice ship !!!
Very nice, big, clean engine room. More like a ship than the tugs I've been working on
.
why I like watching big engines start in youtube?, I don't know. But I think your video is one of the coolest starts around
That's the best video I've seen on TH-cam yet!
Wow, even the diesel generator sets sounds amazing.
I love how the sign under the E-Stop, from what I can see, says, "Noooo Stop!"
oh, not exactly...but close enough.
Cleanest Tug Boat Engine room I've ever seen
John Jesus yeah. I think so 2.😊
This video's so good, this is probably my 15th time watching.
Haha i hope you won't get addicted to the video ;) I'm not responsible for any accidents then ;)
Accidents? You mean losing my eyesight? I already did that on another video. Not to mention that I lost ¾ of my brain cells also from other videos.
Joking aside, how could I get an accident from a video?
Semeran11
haha it was just a joke ;)
Semeran11 me 2😊
Nice to hear the genset's turbo reacting to load changes!
I am a simple kid , I see nice big turbo and hear that turbo spool up sound I give like to that video!!!!
That was really cool. Takes a lot to get one of those boats going. I wont complain about starting my car up in cold weather anymore lol
Go
You all probably dont care but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account??

@Trevor Ares Instablaster =)
@Phoenix Mekhi thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now.

@Phoenix Mekhi It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account !

i love how you can hear the strain on the generator
bouchee2007 that turbo spoolup sound is music to my ears!!!!
blu
Scania Generator.
Reminds me of me being on board a small military ship as a technical crew. The process of starting up the generators and main engines are really similar.
prachtig gefilmd en de uitleg erbij, klasse
Bedankt :)
do a load test on the Scania generators
Nice engineroom, clean and bright. Good video too, cool to see how things are done on the other side of the pond. :)
Scania diesels on the generator sets? Nice sounding generators and main engine.
@goodgodzilla : hehe thanks :) Is the sound also messed up for you? I don't know why that happend. The original file does not have it. Only on youtube the sound got messed up
Thanks for this videos. Can you tell me what are the valves at 1:23 and 2:07 used for?
I've got to assume before you took this video, you checked the oil levels in the generator and main engines first. Right?
Low air pressue. These engines use allot of air to start and when the air pressure goes below a surten number the alarm will sound.
why are they not electrically started

Correction for surten is certain
Hi, to shut the engines down is only 1 press needed on the "stop" button :)
Awesome video man, that's an impressive engine room damn!
At the back of the engine room, what are those 2 big blue things? Also, where the generator start switch (box or panel) is, is that red thing beneath it the generator for the electricity for when the motor is on?😐
No idea to be honest. The CC = 127liter or 7750 Cubic Inch
hello buddy.. thats awesome how you start the tug boat,! but now do you have to do all that to shut the tug down? thanks and cheers for sharing :)
Where do you get the power to run the cooling pump, lights and other equipment when the generator and engines are off?
It’s mainland power. There’s a power point on the dock.
Shipping/Harbors I really like your starting engines videos¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Thank you very much¡

That's one clean engine room! I have to use all of them switches/nobs just to fire up my go-kart. I don't like simple things I guess. . . :)

Can you say what you did there lot of valves and buttons there... Are they started with air?
She's called "Solskjel" - a Norwegian car ferry. She was built with a beautiful-sounding MWM 6-cylinder,
Tractor Tug engineer ...Coooool !!! Love those big ones... High power/Low rpm .
Great Videos.....I am subbin ...THANKS from a cannuck...stay afloat !
is there no need to let the engines warm up first?
What was the first thing started up? The genset? Looks like a cummins 6bt for the genset in the middle there.
@goodgodzilla : The distortion starts at 43sec when i start the generator. The oginal video doesnt have that :)
Is that air he turns on before starting each engine? How are they started also just start motor?
Yes. It is air. They are starter by it.

Throeyset, what is the name of your ship?
You will like the ABC's, they are real deep bass like thumping sound!
Very clean and well lit.
Great video, very informative. Would love to see more video of this boat. Thanks + well done.
Thank you for sharing. This is a great practical video.

What are the Orange things on the floor? Engines?
Fantastic Video! if you get a change could you show a shut down procedure? Cheers angamoos

SCANIA POWER! :) Thank you for sharing this.
Hi, I'm seventeen and want to buy a tugboat someday: but what do I do to get the appropriate experience? The closest experience I have to this is with towing/transporting cars and maintaining the trucks lol
why does the fire alarm go off?
Estupendo motor. Muchas gracias.
what was that alarm going off after you started the port engine?
Super vidéo de technicien. J'adore.
Connection on the shore.
How much torque?
the second start up sounds like a class 60 diesel locomotive
how to download that video with the (Flying captions)?
nice engine room
well I guess I should have read the descripton.... lol still would like to know a little about the gearboxes
What is "30-bar?"
Is dit een Nederlandse boot?
Is this a Dutch boat?
In Rotterdam?
+pcuser80 No it's in Belgium :)
Heel prachtig video een boot mijn vriend. Long live Belgie, hello from California.
Nice Engine Vessel🙂
You guys must get one hell of a call out time for you to be on shore power.
V12?.
This is a tug boat engine room? Yikes! I didn't know they this much power plant on board. Impressive.
This would be so much fun.. It would be just like when we were kids, pretending to start rocket ships!
there not there hot and noisy. mind you I've alway been rebuilding axillary motors with mains running full noise. yuck
Itu mesin kapal ya?
thanks for the great video
Plz show me has diesel pump injection vedio

Imagine stalling that at the lights!
Sukses Selalu Buat Pelaut Kita
Dankuwel
Great video! Thanks!
Very nice. But maybe some subtitles of the process would top it off
That is indeed the Genset, but it's a Scania.
good job
Thanks for upload !!! :)))
Yep off course. I would never do this without protection.
cool video
OH...MY BAD...I assumed....pologize Capn.! Are you the cook too ? (Joke) ! Can I get a job scrubbin the deck ,not that it needs it...very clean ship you have there ! I am a Mariner at heart and will work for food ! ha ha ...seriously though...Nice ship !!!
I hope you had hearing protection.
Nice, i bet it's of the scale.
Thanks mate ;)
There are subs included :) Maybe you have turned them off.....
That's clipping on the mic ;) Too loud for the mic^^
How cool is that, the captain starts the engines himself...! :D Nice...^^
Son los motores de un remolcador
Good 👍
Gosh dang they were takin her to the danger zone... 900 rpms
