One of the actors even had the Dolce & Gabbana edition, it was the first time I ever laid my hands on one of these and it felt AMAZING, compared to any other phone back then. Really depends on what you used it for. Really intensive things like web browsing or video watching (yes back in 2004-2006 that was intensive for a phone) then yes the Razr was a bit weak. But using it for calls, texts and and photos it keeps up.
For me the reason I got and stuck with my Razr after I got mine was actually a few reasons (non of them are style)
      1. I got it free with a short contract (12 months) when it finally hit my carrier. In like 2006 (?)
      2. Battery life was surprisingly good for mostly being on calls. I know people bitched about it but if you purely were using it for calls the battery life was amazing. But that keypad’s lighting draws a lot of battery so texting did kill it fast.
      3. That satisfying user experience of how it snaps open with thumb and the snap of it closing to instantly end a call.
      4. Back then it’s size being such a small phone it was easy to put anywhere.
All this being said though I have nothing but fond memories of the razr and if the price of this new Razr was something more reasonable than the $1500 it’s going for now.. then maybe. If it was $500-$600 then yes I would buy it out right directly from Motorola and blow my Xmas budget on it and make my GF suffer a bit so I can enjoy my Razr. But at $1500 I don’t know..

    • @youknowme2322
      @youknowme2322 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

actually Motorola being American is vry popular in US, but in other countries Nokia and Sony Ericsson took the top 2 spots. Function wise, those were ahead but design wise, Moto is really exceptional. Form factor wise Nokia and Sony ericsson had more variety like sliding phone and rotating phones like W550i and laptop like folding phones as n90, n93 and nokia communicator. In my place,we cared only for best features.

That first Moto fold phone was great. I still have it. It was accidently laundered and rinsed, because I carried it in my jeans pocket. I blew it dry with my hair dryer and after a couple days when completely dried it still worked!!!
However, I won't pay $1500 for any phone, Motorola. I'm do not need to have newest toy; I'm not a Millennial, I'm too intelligent to waste money just because I may want something. Life teaches you (in the long term) there are more important things in the world than 'things'.

I was one of the first kids to get it so everyone wanted to see it and feel it lol. The speaker was amazing for its time and the free games it came with. I bought one song on it and would just listen to it on repeat because I was so amazed at a phone being able to play music. Best part was snapping the phone shut as you hung up on people. Smashed the small display screen and ended up having a destroyed main display screen. Still wanting to know if I can retrieve my photos and videos from it. 😂

Miss that phone. All my friends had sidekicks or Sony Ericsson’s that would blow it out of the water in the feature category. Then I got my blackberry pearle and had brick breaker to play

Public perception of the Motorola Razr
    2004 - 05: coolest phone in market
2008 - 09: too broke to buy iPhone
    2010s: obscurity
    2020 -present: retro, niche

My amazing father brought this for me and sis it cost him $1000 for 2 phones, I lost it in 2010 🥺 but I’ve seen it’s sold for $60 now at local phone shops.

Today’s phones are smart phones but this was my favourite mobile phone incredible back then this phone was way ahead of its time. Honestly where does the time go things were so much simple back then I honestly wish the internet never become so powerful for me it’s ruined human reality
