Lake Superior Trout Fishing, Canoeing, Camping & a Delicious Shore Lunch to Remote Homestead Life!
Join me and my group as we paddle the majestic North Shore of Lake Superior, navigating through some of the finest wilderness Canada has to offer. After tackling the challenging rapids of the Dog River, we are rewarded with an incredible fishing spree-pulling in impressive Northern Pike and hefty Lake Trout. Our haul makes for a perfect shore lunch cooked over an open fire. It’s moments like these, gathered around a crackling flame with good company and fresh fish, that truly make the effort worth it.
As the day progresses, we’re met with fierce headwinds and rolling waves, testing our resolve as we push toward our campsite. After the adventure on the water, it’s back to our homestead where Tori and I dive into some hands-on projects. We plant a traditional Three Sisters garden, build a new shed, and even tackle a punctured truck tire-because life in the bush is never short of tasks. We cap off our days with refreshing swims in the river and enjoy hearty family meals, soaking in the tranquility of our wilderness life. Come along for this journey, where each moment is filled with a blend of adventure, hard work, and the simple joys of living close to nature.

Thanks a lot for checking out this video. Please let me know what your favourite part is. You can also check out my two previous uploads to see what happened earlier in this trip.
Super happy to see you guys got into some fish, couldent imagine doing that much suffering without getting some good ones.
I love how many waterways Canada “northern Montana” has to explore. I worked for Uncle Sam maintaining wilderness trails for ten years I love everything out doors.
@@tiredredneck8159 Right!!??
I liked the mixed content

I found your channel a few days ago, and you've inspired me SO much. Thank you, Jim! Keep adventuring :)
Loved the transition from the canoe trip to the home stuff! Awesome as always! Thanks Jim!
Much appreciated
From the whitewater intensity of the Dog River and Lake Superior's majesty to the tranquil calm of country gardening with the family, your content is unsurpassed. Keep 'em comin'!
Thanks a lot for the great and encouraging comment! I'm glad you're liking it all
I would buy some of that beer, but living in Utah makes it impossible LOL
My favorite part was you showing the pictures from 16 years ago of you and Ted.....and the present day picture of you two !!!
This was an epic video, all of your videos are favourite but once again Huddy gets the stars lol,,,, Wesley is so joyful. You and Tori did an awesome job, on the garden, and her on the garden shed, you both are very informative,, thank you for taking us on the largest lake, to your beautiful home
You're very welcome and I'm glad you enjoyed both elements to the vid.
Without a doubt the greatest “yeeeeeaaaaahhhh” on TH-cam!
Thanks you, thank you 👍
@@JimBairdAdventurer not my place to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do on your channel….but a “Yeah!” mega compilation would be massively popular as a video and smartphone notification/alarm sound.
I really enjoyed the whole dog river adventure. But the homesteading and gardening brought back such great memories when my husband and I moved our house in town to five acres by a creek. I had a huge garden and boy did we eat well. So did the deer! 😁Good times
I love it when a gaggle of Canadian outdoorsmen get together! YEEEAAAAAH!
haha, indeed and then we saw the gaggle of geese too
guardaralimentosnoabrigo.blogspot.com/
Heck ya! Love the fishing action, looks like great eating!!
It would be difficult to pick the best part of your video. Everything was GREAT!
Thanks Jim, for sharing your adventure with us.
You're welcome! thanks for checking it out
dude you guys are amazing can hardly keep up with ya cheers 😊
Thanks a lot, we do have a full schedule.
Hey Jim, Ted and friends. Jim l’m so sorry about the all the footage you lost and just remember you’ll get that back ten times over because only God has the last say. We truly enjoy watching y’all and Hudson is so smart and he pays attention well. Thanks again yall hey Tori and Wesley. Blessings! 👏👏👏🎣🎣🎣😎😎😎🌱🌱🌱🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
Thanks very much and I think I am pretty much over loosing that memory card now!
I like the footage of chores around your homestead
3 sisters. Plant beans, corn and squash together. Beans will refix nitrogen to the soil that the corn takes out.
I enjoy watching your videos and especially the one with the family. Good luck with the garden..gardening is my thing, right next to fishing❤
Great wrap up of a awesome trip! Garden work is hard work, but the rewards are unmatched! Nothing like self raised fruit and veggies! Thanks for sharing JB!
You’re welcome, thanks a lot for tuning in. Have a good one.
The lake it is said, never gives up her dead (or in this case, memory card😊). Great trip, and it's awesome to see the family again!
haha, she certainly will not. Thanks a lot for watching and I'm glad you liked it.
Tell go pro to make things floatable and bright orange
My father took me canoe fishing in Canada. Great memories!
Your Lake Superior
Adventure was really a good trip for you and the guys. However I always enjoy your time with the family. You and Tori make a dynamo team.
Much appreciated!!
WOW look how physically fit you too. Good Job❤❤❤
That one was epic !love the two vids in 1 ,please everyone ya
Fantastic video Broo! One of your best. Definitely a Jim Baird FAVORITE. I love watching the kids grows up. Thank you!
Big thanks man!
Felt bad about the memory card so I decided to buy your beer. Next time you eff up I’ll think about buying a t-shirt 😅🍻
Take that wagon to your new cabin!!!
Man all that fish had me salivating lake trout & pickerel are my favorite. Great video enjoyed all of it.🙂🇨🇦👍👍👍👍👍👍
Feels good to be the 4th view!!!
Cool, thanks for that!
Thanks for bringing us along on the Dog. That is some adventure.
Love the garden work Too. Tori is a Machine 😊
Thanks a lot and ya, I think this video revealed that she did more work than me o it there!
Love ALL your videos and this one was spectacular ending with Tori and the kids. By the way, ordered a case of Windbound for my hubby for Father's Day and HE LOVED it.
That’s awesome! Glad he liked it, thank you 😊
Just keep doing what you do, Jim. Your videos are always the best, beginning to end. Have to say, though, the DOG River footage was pretty darn exciting.
JIMBO & TED Man you caught the Pike there !!! It has cold waters Up there in those Lakes !!! Loved every moment of it GUYS !!!
Lots of Pike there! Ya, superior is always cold as heck
Great video Jim. Replacing the lost footage with family life was a stroke of brilliance. Loved it
Well thanks a lot snd I’m glad you enjoyed both elements
As you now have been reminded. Back up your camera cards every evening. A n extra solid state hard drive does not take up much space or use much power, as it's only working for a few minutes a day.
Whoa! What a fabulous video!!! 💜💜💜💜💜
Awesome video lad!
Amazing Guys .Well done a pleasure to watch x
Thanks!
Perfect combo video
Thanks a lot
Hiya Jim, Oh lovely to see you Torri & the babies too. I thought this was beautiful, smashing & gorgeous. What did I like best Jim, dont know where to start yeah! All of u boys in the canoes with shots of the group on the water just stunning. When u all settled in after day or two it was so refreshing to see u helping one another & checking out runs together. Those White water Rapids- Oh my days so exciting & scary, all of you showed expertise & iron wills; can't say the word begings with B that boys use, but impressive to the max. How you all dealt with the weather & bugs was a lesson. The scenery at different times was magnificent & wonderous. Dont start me on the FISHING it turned out stupendous, beauteous Fish. I loved the way you all shared and the chat was good. Its can b tricky and takes time for camaraderie to devolpe with different personalities, competitiveness, and stuff, u know what I mean. You all appeared to b quite separate, I realise the filming etc made it difficult. Good idea to hv a group chat shot at the end to show it worked out ok. Jim & Tori the work was tricky it was interesting how u planned things and acheived so much over few days. The whole property is coming together so nicely. Really enjoyed it❣️you did ask what i liked😂
Tori, I love your go attitude!❤
I love gardening so much❤ it was great watching the segment with your family, made we want more! Are you going to be posting any adventures with your family soon??? ❤
Kudos for all your hard work on your home garden, its daunting for sure....What brand are those tires Jim ?? for your ram
Superb! All of it. Thank you for sharing.
Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh!!! 🫧💦🔥🎣❤🍻
OMG, watching Huddy with the gardening; & he is totally stealing the entire video from Ya! So very precious, that's for sure. Love Ya's ALL. Thanks for yr trip& sharing, it was awesome for sure. Hope yr gardens get naturally watered & flourish! Sorry, but Huddy steals the show each&every time. Love you 5! Stay safe, enjoy & enjoy yr journeys. Thanks for sharing! Xo E
Absolutely agree with Huddy staking the show lol! He is so awesome.
Congrats on the beer endeavor. Haven't seen any TH-camrs branching out in that direction. Good name too.
Now you just need to figure out a whiskey.
Not a bad idea
Hey Jim. Great content as usual. It might be helpful If a part of the headline was the same for a particular series, or if you add Part 1….Part 2, instantly letting everyone know this is one of three or four etc..
Luv your videos. Amazing what you do. Thanks Jim.
That’s essentially what I do for my longer trips but in these shorter ones, the views really fall off so I try to present them as their own stand-alone vids. They do serve as that. Maybe it’s because Sometimes people don’t want to click on an episode 2 or three as they feel they’ve missed too much of the story and don’t have time to go back and watch from episode 1.
Huddie is so smart and cute!
Thanks
Jim, you are a good Dad!
Thanks a lot
Dude the footage!!!! man... I soo fucking understand
That took me some time to emotionally rebound from
@@JimBairdAdventurer yeah i can imagine.....
Dude your living the life and especially being an amazing husband and father!!!!!
Much appreciated man
Wait ! . I commented too soon. Lol. What did you cook on the grill at the very end? That looked so good . Yum . And I live on the river also it's awesome to just jump in the river after a nice hot day I know that feeling. Although I'm older I don't do it as much anymore but it is nice. Great video dude. Thank you for all that you do to bring us awesome videos.
You’re very welcome! That was a moose roast and some grilled red peppers and broccoli 👍
sweet video! can you explain how you were catching the lake trout, like what technique you were trolling the spoon? (depth) (weight of spoon) thanks
Yup, just flat lining with a Williams whitefish spoon using 20lb fluro and a larger sized split shot sinker
loved watching these dog river videos dude! absolutely epic! watching your vids and those from others has made me get back out tripping this summer after a shitty medical diagnosis about a decade ago, super inspiring. thanks for all of it :)
That is exactly what I like to hear my fried! Thanks a lot.
Shattered this beer was just released. Flew back home down under from ontario a couple months back.
Great series Jimbo. Sorry about the SD card mate.
Ahhh, bummer
You're a lucky man Jim,great video.Thank you for sharing your personal life.
You’re welcome, thanks a lot for watching!
I’d love to buy the beer but for 30$ for shipping think il have to pass and I live in southern Ontario Crazy price
I'm sure it will go viral in time and be available to you soon, and maybe into the states before too awful long !!!!!
Amazing trip Jim! Thanks can’t wait to try the beer congratulations
Much appreciated! I think there is only about 35 cases left until they brew it again which isn’t 100% certain so if you want order some you should do it soon. There’s a link in this videos description where you can order it. It’s delish. I promise. I’m glad you like the video and thanks for all the support with beer etc. no pressure in ordering any of course
Dropping an SD card has also happened to me. It taught me to change my SD card only when I am on safe ground. 😢
This is a good way ti learn that lesson lol 😞
Lard is much better for you than vegetable oils.
Ya, and Canola oil was supposed to be the healthy choice
Love the home videos too!🤗❤️
Yay! Thank you!
you getting time to spend with your wife and little ones!! as usual, great video from you
Thanks very much!
From wilderness to homesteading! Cool! TY!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed both elements
My favorite part was the homesteading. Loved it it.
Awesome, thanks a lot and please, share it with your friends :)
Wanted you to know that your content was still great. I’m sorry you lost other content you so painstakingly filmed but, it’s ok. We got the just of your day…..the kayaking, hanging with friends, catching a ton of fish…observing the beauty of Lake Superior! Again, thank you for putting it all together for our enjoyment!
You’re very welcome! It was actually the previous video that was effected mostly due to loosing the card on this day and the cast majority of footage lost was from the previous days. Tough pill to swallow.
@@JimBairdAdventurer The prior video, kyaking down the stream prior to Lake Superior was still great. I get how you feel….a LOT of work/content was lost. Some lessons are just hard and hurt the heart!
Jim, your success with your own corn "seeds" will depend a lot on whether your original seeds were hybrid or non-hybrid (non-pollinated). "Heirloom" (non-pollinated) seeds produce true likeness each generation, where as seeds derived from hybrid plantings will not carry over true replicas.
Awesome info. The seeds I dried ended up doing a lot better than the ones I bought from the store!
@@JimBairdAdventurer Good! Corn seeds can remain viable for 2-3 years if stored properly, but their germination rate will diminish over time. No telling how old unlabeled store bought seeds really are. I am happy you are having success. There's nothing sweeter than vegetables you've grown yourself.
Nice gay feather Jim.😂
Great video once again.
I love all your videos they all have been totally awesome. Picking a favorite part that's hard. I think I will have to say when you're sitting at the dinner table and huddy made the statement about the dinosaur correcting you. That was priceless. He is so adorable. You and your wife both have beautiful children and a wonderful family. You are truly blessed. And I can't wait to see the update of your gardens ?
Ha! Thanks a lot. Ya, we were trying to encourage him to take a lite of his hamburger by saying f take a dinosaur bite so Tori and I did it, I said I was a T-Rex, Tori said she was a brachiosaurus 🦕. With that, Hudson replied, “brachiosaurus’ eat trees mom”
@@JimBairdAdventurer I would definitely put that clip away in a memory log to show him when he got older. LOL.
Incredible fish-fest! Nice job boys!
Thanks a lot!!
Dang it JiM! U lost that hard earned footage?! That sucks. 😢dang memory cards, and digital memories! I feel your pain (kinda)…all our kiddos video recordings are on Hi8 (8mm), and they are 22,19,16 now. Enjoy your babies now cause they grow up so dang fast. Thanks for another banger episode.❤ BTW- love that you’re teaching Xander. You rock Jim.
Tarp it after harvest or put more boxes down to over winter.
Solid advice!
What a kick to the gut losing that memory card.
Oh lord….and it was only just out of reach. I had to watch it sink slowly in the clear water as I tried desperately to push it up with my paddle in futility.
A totally great video! The canoeing on Superior and all the fish that were caught and cooked up at camp was amazing. So fun to see you guys sitting around the campfire laughing and chatting. How good is that. Your garden is looking really good. Love the raised beds and the little bridge you made. You'll have quite a harvest come fall with all the veggies you planted. Lots of hard work there digging, fertilizing and raking it all in. Nice shed you built, Tori. Two favorite parts: All the guys sitting around the campfire on Superior shores and the kids. Little Huddy (who's getting so big) calling for North.."Norrrrrrrrt!" Super video, Jim!
All three videos were jam packed with great adventure and good times. I enjoyed them all very much, but I had to chuckle at the end when Hudson let out a holler for North 😂 …then when Dad called for him as well, it was apparent who he was mimicking…lol. So funny! All enjoyable
What an epic trip - must be even better to get to share it with so many friends.
Spectacular falls and scenery!
Fish party 🎉🛶🎣🔥💪🏽
Hey Jim ever consider taking a Big Fan on an adventure?!?🤔 lol!!
Haha, I haven’t actually. I know Joe Robinet did that a couple times and it was a lot of fun.
@@JimBairdAdventurer well keep me in mind if you ever decide to. I’m a very big fan..
And I love to adventure myself. Amazing what you Do. Would be a dream come true. Wow!!
I liked the "Laker" that Jim caught !!!!
Make that LAKERS !!!!!!
What a great relationship you have with your brother Jim. I'm constantly jealous of your amazing trips. Thanks for sharing with us all.
Tori has "paddle like a girl", Jim has "throw like a girl". Obviously baseball isn't big for Canadian youths, but who needs baseball when you have that kind of nature.
Sorry to hear about the memory card Jim. Guess mother nature wanted a lil footy for her self. Cheers brother! 🍻
Great video! Thanks or sharing your family time at home! Now I see how you all stay in such great shape. Looking forward to your new cabin adventures. ATB!
Hi Jim, it was so good to see you and Ted again. What a great group of guys, enjoying the outdoors. I really enjoyed visiting all these new places, with you guys, and through your videos. I'm not brave like any of you, but I do enjoy watching all the adventures, and the joys of sharing such healthy, healing, and sporty trips with friends and family.
The first half of the video was entertaining.
Thanks a lot!
Damn Jim, sucks about the sd card! As always, fantastic video for inspiring me to keep gettin out there! Much love from Red Lake ON
Great video fella! I don't know why, but when you hooked that fish on superior and hollered at your brother "it's fucking huge" or whatever lol.. reminded me of fishing with my brother. Don't get to do it much anymore, if at all.
Loved the safety squint at 42:20 lol
I'd like some of your beer! What about your friends in the usa! I'd love to get a sixer for my older brother I turned you and Ted on to His birthday is on the 11th of August. Give me a plan Jim and Ted!
Love the family clips.😊👍
Thanks a lot!
Wow! Awesome video….love the parts that include your family!
Feel for you Jim on the memory card. I lost my camera off my head once going under a tree. I always tether now. Amazing trip as per usual. Was Ted the only dry paddler?
Real men use single blades 😊 Great video!
Don’t fret, I’ll show you how to use one one day.
What a great adventure and all you guys what a great team. This has been an amazing adventure for all of us thank you for taking us along with you all.God bless you all and your families.
Man, great series inspiring us to have a boys' trip of our own here in Australia. Wish I could jet over and wiper snip your place for you 😅. Keep up the great content bro, empowers us to be better people 👍
Just the best 🤟
Thanks!
You guys are great parents...I found you because of the Whipples and Alone
I hope your crops will be ok it hasn't rained since the middle of July.
Every lunch we watch another hour or you and Ted. Both channels are equally enjoyable. Favorited right through to the end
I had a memory card do that too. Lesson learned, great fishing and nice to see you swim on the Magnetawan, cheers!
You can dig holes and put your perennial pots in them to over winter.
Thanks a lot, ya I think I’m going to have to or they’ll die. What about the ones in the whisky barrel?
@@JimBairdAdventurer I would build up the outside with soil and leaves.maybe wrap it with cardboard too.
