Love the videos, I have never owned a Schrade LB7, but I have owned multiple Schrade LB5's and the springs on those give out and break a lot. I love your videos on the USA Schrade knives and cant wait to see your next video.
My lb7 is 42 yrs old and the spring is still good.I don't play with it opening and closing the blade for no good reason other than just playing with it.When I do open the blade is because I need to use it as a cutting/slicing tool.I did not know that it's common for the back spring to break,I'll just have to retire it then before it breaks and use my 110 folding hunter since it's still in mass production in the USA and hopefully they don't move it's production in Chinatown like Schrade did.
Is that an LB7 in your pocket or are you happy to see me! Thanks for the info. I think I like the OT6 over the LB7. Something about the bare-head and lanyard hole. Good luck with the job interview!

Great looking 6OT. My 70s vintage LB7 has the flat spring. My 80s and 90s vintage LB7's and LB8's have the round bar spring so my guess is yours is older than you guessed. You are spot on about the Buck's squared edges vs the more refined Schrade/Uncle Henry lock-backs. I ended up trading my first 110 for an LB8 because I liked how it felt in hand better than the Buck. Buck fixed that sometime in the 80s. Thanks for the video. I have a weakness for folding hunters and now I'm on the hunt for a 6OT and 7OT

Cool video. From the information that I have, the 6OT was made from 1995 to 2004. The LB7 from 1979 to 2004. Not crazy about the delrin Schrade used later on. All my friends had Buck 110's so I carried a Browning 4018F folding hunter.

Just found 6 OT in an old hunting bag and I can remember buying it because it was the cheaper of the two. Took the patina off though, had moisture tarnish. Being brass it will come back
I had an Old Timer LB7 late 1978. I don't recall if it had a serial number. It did have a black leather belt pouch. I KNOW I had it when I was 18 because of an embarrassing incident involving getting arrested and me turning it into the desk sergeant much to the embarrassment of the arresting officer... Among my friends, we purchased these, because we couldn't afford Buck 110s. Personally, I have never liked the look or feel of Delrin. Delrin is just their recipe name for thermo-plastic. It's actually amazing stuff perfect for tool and knife handles. I just prefer wood.
@@KnifeDetector I'm pretty sure I only have 3 possible 4 bone scaled knives, I was never really attracted much to bone. I'm a sucker for Rosewood, Ebony, and other rarer hardwoods, but I'm also a big fan of American hardwoods as well! I just love American Desert Ironwood used recently by Schrade companies.
What a nice comparison! Both knives are great in their own way but I think I prefer the 60T. The blade shape is more defined and I love that bare headed trapper look to it. Good luck on your new job. I think the OT Schrade brand were the best USA made commercial folders I've seen. I particularly like the carbon bladed ones. I have one 2250T with a knife blade and a saw, that I got used in 1992-ish. It weighs in just under what a Buck 110 weighs, but with two 'blades'! Very sad Schrade went out of business.
Great video I have three of the LB7 type but all are a little different 2 are like yours but one says uncle Henry on blade not Schrade + the third one is a Schrade OLD TIMER 7OT Has carbon blades. Best of luck on your new job prayers that it works out for you. God Bless All.

I have my fathers LB7 and it has no serial number but it does have the old timer brass plate on the side of the handle. This video is the closest thing I found to match it. Does anybody know the date it was manufactured and what the value may be?

I just watched it. It is a large boxy kind of knife, and rather handle heavy. But that grip is incredible. The ease with which it cuts is amazing, like an extension of your hand. I saw right off the rare Buck Titanium. Very nice knife. If you look at some of the lock blades from Frost Cutlery, Whitetail Cutlery and a few others, they are copying the 300's shape on a smaller scale.

What have you done with your lb7 knives after the spring breaks? Who can repair a broken spring?
I have sometimes sold them for parts, or I have bought a damaged knife with a good spring to fix mine.

To be honest, I still prefer the Buck 110 more. I have never had a 110 spring get weak or fail.
