    Hey! Just curious, how is this machine performing 4 years later? I'm looking at a very similar one and I would love to hear your feedback if you have time! I'm hoping to use it to machine aluminum parts at home. I use fusion360 and inventor regularly. Thanks Dan! Very cool video!

    • @HandyDan
      @HandyDan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The machine performs the same after 4 years, not much changes. The version I have was updated 3 years ago after I got mine, if you are looking to mill aluminum, I would suggest a gantry style machine for more rigidity.

    • @degreeless_engineering

      Thanks for taking the time to respond! Have you machined aluminum with yours? I'm curious where its weaknesses reside and if they can be engineered out. It's such and affordable and capable looking machine. There's really nothing else out there like this for the price point. The 5th axis is the real draw for me. @@HandyDan

      @@degreeless_engineering The weakness is the rigidity of the column and 5th axis. I suggest you watch the A axis upgrade and B axis upgrade videos. That is the real problem with this machine rigidity or lack of.

      I'm not completely happy with the lack of rigidity and the tool changes manually in the middle of every program, but for the most part it will make a lot of things. And cut aluminum if you stay beside it with ear plugs and spray the cutter with some thing like WD 40

    Hi Dan, i just got that machine and i am having some problems. I use Fusion 360 for CAM and the controller is mach3 and I edited it to have both 4th and 5th axis but i simply cannot get the 5axis continuous toolpath to be like the one I programmed. Good to hear you have the machine and already have a tool path in Fusion 360.

      @@HandyDan Thanks for responding man :) So my issue is that for instance, if i create a flow toolpath with 5 axis continous, the machine movements do not correspond to what the ones i programmed. So i think this is related to the post-processor that i am using. Have you ever experience something like this when you used that machine?

      It is a pleasure to be able to talk to you, I wanted to use mach3, NXcam or Fusion 360 or MasterCam, which you indicate, except SprutCam, NX seems to be one of the best Cams, I am a person who has no money here in Brazil , electrician work on a textile, look at the link to my machine that I built myself th-cam.com/video/_qG8kWUWHJQ/w-d-xo.html

      There's so many different CAD/CAM programs and so many different CNC machines that a post processor is almost a one off.

    Hello Dan
    Where I would get a HY6040 postprocessor ( solidcam ) ?
    Thanks you for your response .

    • @HandyDan
      @HandyDan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply, post processor is more for the machine controller you are using, not specifically for the HY6040.
      So if you are running the machine with Linux CNC, Mach3 or an Arduino the post may differ.
      I use Mach3 and a basic Fanuc style post works good. SolidCAM has basic posts, let me know if you need help.
