First, thank you for your compliments. I must say that this is not a good idea for a daily, reliable vehicle. The bike engine is under powered by itself, low torque and hard to take off from stopped. The bike chain is a high wearing item. The most difficult thing I had to do was the front hubs, and bearings. If you have the drive and funds, look into quaif.co.uk for a solid gear drive solution with reverse. One more thing about front mount bike engine, I had already done the wide body kit and front truck bumper that allows me the extra space out front. Keep me updated on your build. It's a 1995 to 2000 Toyota Tacoma race truck bumper, I cut it down and custom fit it.

What CAM software do you use? A post processor needs to be configured to work between the CAM software and machine.

On this kit car it was just a simple hinge mounted to the top inside edge of the fender and another small pivot hinge on the top of the A pillar

It's not considered street legal, I got it on ebay, I had to remove the airbag and install a resistor in the harness to bypass it so the rest of the airbags still work.

I replaced my gearbox with a low mileage used one and it is starting to make the noise again. I will go through the old box and see if it has a bearing number, or if I can source a higher load bearing from Timken. I'll post the details soon.

@giacomomonzani1371 I don't have the gear box number, I just searched online for the electric Smart transaxle and found one on ebay. I will try to get the old box torn down and see if I can get any bearing information.

From what I know about the passlock: it uses the resistance in the ignition rotation and sends the variable voltage to the ECU. The ECU determines the key position by voltage signals, that's what "turns on" the vehicle "cranks the engine" and "run" position. If the voltage signals is off, it sets the passlock as an attempted hotwire. Several things might be difficult to determine like faulty wiring, low battery or corroded battery terminal can effect signals properly. The re learning process just re programs those levels, it was designed to take a long time to deter theft.

My husband's 08 Colorado has the exact same problem. It is so frustrating. How do we remove the whole anti theft thing. He's been stuck for hours many times

I had to custom make the shifter shaft to mount my handle. I would have to re visit the process to develop a shifter that would be an aftermarket replacement. I had to cut off the OEM plastic and made the aluminum shaft press fit with red loctite, then the shifter will take any thread on knob.

It depends on where you programed the datum. But since this machine doesn't have Kinematics or TPCP or Dynamic work offsets. I use the A axis centerline for Z, and B axis center for the X,Y datum.

Do they come on when you start the car? Mine did. But there's a difference between USA and Canada models. Only USA made it a requirement, so mine was turned on through Sam.

My lights were LED so lower Amp draw. You could wire a fused wire from the battery to a switch if necessary.

I had OEM wires already up under the front fenders for daytime running lights, but then I rewired them to a switch instead.

@@HandyDan It’s having trouble cranking the same as before. It will even try to crank sometimes before I turn the key over. I have to wait the 11 mins for the passkey light to stop blinking. This has been happening to me everyday for the past few weeks and more often than ever before. I even get the passkey light now while I’m driving.

P0601 Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error. I would check the main wire harness under hood passenger side ECU connectors for dirt or corrosion. Maybe also all the connectors on the engine. Other than that, it sounds like replacing the ECU, does it drive ok once started?

I really will really never know the top speed because, unfortunately, after I began the project, I found out that the OEM electric drive was held back to 83mph because Smart discovered the rotor would expand and rub the stator. So I'm afraid to take it past 85mph

To be honest I had troubles with the pin pusher, I got a universal set. It didn't really have the correct size but it needs a flat type and on the one side it has a tab, hard to see but it's on the opposite side as the contact open side. (The contact is U shaped so the closed side has a tab to bend flat)

@@HandyDanHi Dan. Thanks! I did this yesterday and it went fine! You’re right about the pin pusher. I actually used the smallest shim I had in my set and pushed it down the narrow slot next to the pin, until I felt I was pushing the latch in. Then a larger pusher, plus some pulling on the wire, and the pin slid out easily. Thanks again for your video. The Smart ED is super fun in this ‘mode’ 😂
