A look back on the Wii U Panorama View series and what it ever meant. SUBSCRIBE: / @bearman3600 TWITTER: Bearman3600?t=GGX... PATREON: patreon.com/Bearman3600?...
I remember viewing these from the couch in my living room as a kid when I was sick in 2013/2014, Nintendo was probably planning to do something with them and wanted to see what the general audience thought of it. But since nothing came of it, it has now been forgotten to time. What a weird uncovered memory!
Remember the vr things all over yt back in 2016 that made you use your phone in the same way. Idk but that’s what I think of because I never had a wii u
I have owned a Wii U since 2013, and I never knew this existed. Honestly, this kinda thing has just been replaced by VR now, and even then, why would I watch a 360 VR video when I could play a VR game.
As far as I can tell was a 180/360 video, panorama experience or AR like focused demo as a highlights tour of sorts for rach region the video focused on. Which as Wii U had no 3D sure bur I mean with gyro makes sense for if you want 180/360 video on phones it's similar on Wii U but more curated. Irs no Lourve Museum tour on 3DS bur irs something alright. I inly got yhe first one for free not buying the others it's a novelty.
Did you have to pay to view this back then? I rememeber vaguely watching a demo of all of these different scenes with music, but never actually saw the full things.
Yea. I may be wrong but if I remember correctly, the demo was free but each of the other four were $1.99 each (I believe). Weirdly though, the demo showed some footage that was never actually used in any of the final releases, so I believe there was another one that was never released, or maybe canceled. Forgot to mention that in the video.
Interestingly enough the Wii U also had a Google Maps application that worked in the same way if I remember correctly and it even had a Miiverse community that was pretty fun. I think it only lasted a year or two though
It's 180/360 video basically. Think any TH-cam videos with 180 video and you move your phone aka the gyro/motion control to move around the area of the video on your phone. But using panorama video or 360 cameras or whatever. But the Google Maps on Wii U was its own app as well like the other commenter said. I never used it but I bet it was cool.
The un-blurred individuals are forever immortalized
