Got 2 extra great tips... 1. In event view, to select the notes instead of using the 4 d knob ,you can use the left and right arrow (left of the screens, above the power knob.) 2 and this was huge for me in m+ you cant quantise the length. 1/16 note is 240. Sometimes whilst playing you have those super thin note, or you want it to end perfectly at the end of a 16th. The trick is where it says length, select a note and turn length to the LEFT fully, and you will see that the note will be perfectly 1/16 or 240 for length. Great when you use adsr, for easy visibility, or have the notes overlap 2 16th to have a perfect legato/glide every time one for the 808 bass fans. Try it,this helped me so much for different stuff. And 3 😁 great tutorial as always Jeff. Thumbs up 👍👍👍

Hi jeff. really useful video thankyou. just wondering, i use maschine inside of logic pro x as i find it easier for my workflow, but the shift and 4d encoder doesnt move you around ur events when inside of logic, only when running maschine on its own. anyway to change this? any feedback would help thanks
it doesnt make much difference, the two nobs under the right hand screen is what i have to use instead to move the playback cursor/ area thing where i want
This was awesome! Only question (did I miss it?). How do I get the zoomed in 2nd screen to automatically follow the first screen? I can’t find a setting for it anywhere on my M+
Would you have any tips on looping sounds with a long tail or with heavy delay or reverb? I want to record an external synth with that in mind. Like a multi sectioned song (scenes). By the way, all of these videos are fantastic!
Jef + Others -- I am getting back into using a Maschine Mk3, after being away from it for ~1.5 years. I have found that some of the workflow button combinations I learned don't work at all anymore. I have pulled down the 'latest'(?) manual for Maschine Mk3, and some of the documentation is still wrong. So I can't depend on the Maschine Mk3 manual. Do you feel that the manual for Maschine+ is more accurate for getting to the latest workflow 'button presses'?
I haven’t noticed that problem, though the manual situation is confusing with separate manuals for software and hardware… can you give some examples of things that have changed or aren’t working for you?
Jeff, as a Maschine, and Ableton user - is a used Push 2 worth the investment if I already have the MK3? I don't want to leave the NI ecosystem, but I think I prefer Ableton as my main DAW - and having a dedicated/integrated controller as hyper functional as the Push 2 seems suuuuuuuper fun.
Hey Rian! I have had the Push 2 for 6 months and haven't had time to really work with it. I'm planning a video soon comparing it to the MK3, but already I'd say if you can afford it it's a sweet piece of gear! Can't edit notes like you can on the MK3, but playing stuff in with all of those pads is awesome. My only concern is that it is so old, but I don't hear any rumours of a new one, and I'm not connected with Ableton so I have no idea!
@@jefgibbons Appreciate the reply, and the content as always sir. I feel the exact same way about it. I've got a little Launchpad X, I'll test out that combo for a while and keep watching the prices on the Push 2. They are getting really reasonable lately.
@@jefgibbons I've been looking for an automatic way to set the notes in event view to end exactly when the next starts but couldn't figure out how. It seems to be possible to do it manually for each note like shown in this video but is there a shortcut for legato on the whole even like it is with quantizing? It would be very useful with bass lines or leads etc
I know this sounds crazy but how do I adjust the individual volumes of notes in a pattern, using the M+ hardware?? Velocity isn't affecting the volume or moving the fader on the note up or down either. Seems so simple but I can't figure it out 😰 Edit: is it anything to do with the fact I'm APPLYING TO GROUP after I chop samples, rather than just applying?
not sure you're still on this channel, but hitting shift and moving 4d encoder is not moving my cursor, rather it's illuminating buttons on the right screen, for example in event mode it highlights 'quantize' and in pattern mode it highlights or turns off double duplicate create delete bank....the one thing it's supposed to do it doesn't do. is there a setting that is askew on my system?
@@jefgibbons hey jeff...thanks for getting back..yah...it's got me beat...turning clock or anti clockwise the 4d E should move my cursor on the hardware...but as indicated it's only impacting on buttons above the 2nd screen....i'm sure i've got a setting wrong somewhere but if you have a moment when yer next at maschine...could you let me know how i should set this up...i've aleady input data into my grid and in either event mode or pattern mode i should just be able to move the cursor, but as indicated 'i can't'...agghh
hey jef, i had hoped i could solve this, but i've been searching e'where, then came back to your presentation and i'm doing it right in that to move the playhead, or cursor, you have to hold shift down....every other element working in events n' patterns is good to go, but the moving of the cursor remains unsolved...dang!
@@publika6883 I'd give it a solid 7, I have a video coming where I talk about it and who it is for... and it is not for everyone... you have to want to get out of the studio and away from the computer! Thanks Michael!
You should some erase options/methods that I didn't know were there!! 🤯
Can I use Arturia "V Collection X," "Analog LAB" software without a PC using a USB drive on Maschine+ and XDJ-XZ Effects pad?
Is there a way to "stretch" a bunch of midi notes?
is therre a way to edit cutoff, reso or pan parameters of single notes directly on MK3, just like you edit velocity?
Do you mean have note specific parameter changes? You can use step automation… and I’m working on a video for that!
@@jefgibbons Let's assume I'm making a hi-hat and I'd like to have every second note filtered or panned precisely at xx%. The length, velocity, position and tone adjustment is right there, different parameters aren't that easy to edit though. looking forward to that video then :)
Yes this fits in nicely with my request too, though I 'm
... imagining from your reply here Jef, that you can't actually embed an effect onto a single note, just basically turn it off for the others. Looking forward to that vid Jef, they're all so very useful!
Does quick edit only work in step mode?
Edit: You showed me a way right after.
Thank you!
Hi jeff. really useful video
thankyou. just wondering, i use maschine inside of logic pro x as i find it easier for my workflow, but the shift and 4d encoder doesnt move you around ur events when inside of logic, only when running maschine on its own. anyway to change this? any feedback would help thanks
it doesnt make much difference, the two nobs under the right hand screen is what i have to use instead to move the playback cursor/ area thing where i want
thank you!!! very useful!!!!
I’m Dave, thank you!
Fantastic fantastic Jef 👍🏿
Thanks Kiel!
This was awesome! Only question (did I miss it?). How do I get the zoomed in 2nd screen to automatically follow the first screen? I can’t find a setting for it anywhere on my M+
Hi Michael! Press the Follow button down near the transport controls on the hardware... that should do it, let me know if it doesn't!
@@jefgibbons Holy cow! How have I never noticed that button over 4 years? Thanks!
@@MichaelGilboe it’s impossible to get everything… I’m still finding basic things I never noticed!
Would you have any tips on looping sounds with a long tail or with heavy delay or reverb? I want to record an external synth with that in mind. Like a multi sectioned song (scenes). By the way, all of these videos are fantastic!
Thanks Rich! I’m not sure what you mean, do you mean a sample with a long tail? Or do you mean one with a bunch of Maschine effects?
@@jefgibbons I'd like to use the onboard effect of my external synth. :) and pedals if possible. For example, I have a Microcosm Hologram.
Super tips… Merci. 👍👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks fab!
Thank you very useful and helpful Tutorial
Appreciate the feedback!
Excellent
U got urself a sub champ
I like that shirt Jef!
Thanks! It's actually a recreation of a shirt I had ages ago... my kid is pretty savvy with the shirt-making art!
@@jefgibbons Oh nice! I wish I had one! because I use Native Instruments myself!
It’s time for them to start selling shirts!
@@jefgibbons I agree!! That shirt is amazing!
So helpful ❤
Soooo no legato?
Yeah! Definitely… you mean just for a sampler in maschine?
@@jefgibbons I've been looking for an automatic way to set the notes in event view to end exactly when the next starts but couldn't figure out how. It seems to be possible to do it manually for each note like shown in this video but is there a shortcut for legato on the whole even like it is with quantizing? It would be very useful with bass lines or leads etc
I know this sounds crazy but how do I adjust the individual volumes of notes in a pattern, using the M+ hardware?? Velocity isn't affecting the volume or moving the fader on the note up or down either. Seems so simple but I can't figure it out 😰
Edit: is it anything to do with the fact I'm APPLYING TO GROUP after I chop samples, rather than just applying?
Hey! Make sure “fixed velocity” button isn’t highlighted… that would fix it!
I though note editting on maschine is bad, noe when I know how it is on push 2, I think note editting on maschine is great.
@15:54 😁
not sure you're still on this channel, but hitting shift and moving 4d encoder is not moving my cursor, rather it's illuminating buttons on the right screen, for example in event mode it highlights 'quantize' and in pattern mode it highlights or turns off double duplicate create delete bank....the one thing it's supposed to do it doesn't do. is there a setting that is askew on my system?
Not at the maschine right now, but the cursor is spinning the 4d, not clicking it… no? Can’t remember, but try spinning!
@@dkkrecordsAre you on Maschine or Maschine+ specifically?
@@jefgibbons hey jeff..i'm on maschinr mk3.... been trying but still getting 'no result'...kinda weirding me'
hey jef, i had hoped i could solve this, but i've been searching e'where, then came back to your presentation and i'm doing it right in that to move the playhead, or cursor, you have to hold shift down....every other element working in events n' patterns is good to go, but the moving of the cursor remains unsolved...dang!

1 to 10, how happy are you with the Maschine+?
@@publika6883 I'd give it a solid 7, I have a video coming where I talk about it and who it is for... and it is not for everyone... you have to want to get out of the studio and away from the computer! Needs a battery and a speaker... But it is so powerful when you compare it to similar devices... and being able to work in the Maschine environment so seemlessy is great if you're used to it!
@@jefgibbons not what I what I wanted to read because I just ordered one but thanks Jeff!. Appreciate you.
