I’ve lived off-grid the last two years while I build my house. Also, I’m self employed and drive my truck w/an Alu Cab camper on the back all over the country for about 4-6 months each year. At home & on the road I’ve been using a 2 gallon plastic weed sprayer that works by hand pumping to pressurize the canister. I just heat up some water, pump it about 8-9 times, and I’ve got a great shower, hot or cool as I want it. I’ve got a little pack on it like the example in this video, and it holds a razor, soap, everything I might need while taking a shower. I’m able to use it right next to the truck, take it down to a stream, wherever. I love it. I’ve used the current one for 2 years. I leave it outside when I’m at home. Abused it. For $30, and as bulletproof as it’s been, I can’t imagine changing things up. Not to dog on this build, because it’s a great idea, but the fewer parts the better, in my opinion. YMMV! 👍🏼🙏🏼
Right on! I've been using a similar set up to yours for 7 or 8 years for camping. I replaced the weed sprayer wand with a sink sprayer and use it for showers and washing up dishes. It did randomly quit working on one trip. It had just gotten too much dirt/sand in it over the years of desert camping and the o-rings wouldn't seal when I tired pumping it. I got home, cleaned everything out, and greased the o-rings. It's been working great since. A bag to hold the soap and stuff is a good idea! I think I'll add one to mine too.
I did the same thing about 10 years ago. Just bought a pesticide pump sprayer thing, connected a small shower head onto it, and done. I also painted it black so that it would warm up in the sun for showers.
I can tell the different channels you got your ideas from. I too used the exact same parts, except the bag. I love the storage bag. I chose to use the cap for all my through holes. The wiring grommet I just pipe tapped the plastic and screwed in the grommet. I secured it with a small drop of epoxy, but if you're worried about chemicals in the water you could also use a dab of plumbing safe silicone sealant. I chose to only modify the cap because the cap can be replaced by purchasing it separately if I want to make changes, or I want to quickly convert it back to a simple water tank without the pump system. Nicely done. Love all your builds.
I’ve tried several variations of this water tank, from a Schrader valve with a hand pump to electric air pump. I went this route but chose to run the electrical wiring through the lid with a 2 way switch. I preferred it is way so I can unscrew the lid and everything pulls out at once. When I have to fill it up with water it was easier for me since I carry it from the campsite to the provide water source. With the 5.2gpm pump it would spray 24’ and took ~3 minutes to empty tank. Thanks for the help!
Swapping the male to male fitting with a quick disconnect would make it much easier/faster to set up/break down. Also plumbing a clear tubing with 90° fittings on the tank from top to bottom would allow you to see the fluid level before you run out of water.
Thats good, but it creates a point of failure if the bottom of the container gets knocked you'll lose all of the water. The version i did personally just uses a similar water container but its transparent blue plastic. Can easily see the water level and theres no unnecessary holes or plumbing on it to leak, and it still slides into a regular jerry can holder
On doing a bunch of testing, you are losing a ton of pressure by using the expandable hose. Switch to a short normal one and you will gain about 3x the pressure.
I don't think it will matter if it is really short, but maybe you are right, but it seemed good enough and the store away of the flex hose is probably worth it.
That will absolutely not matter at all. The expanding hose only reacts to static pressure. You don't "lose pressure" when it expands if anything it "stores pressure" like an accumulator but the reason he doesn't have great pressure is the pump pure and simple.
I like your spin on it with the attached bag. I built one of these a while back; do yourself a favor and ditch that battery pack. I've already gone through three of them. They don't last very long and are very temperamental. I upgraded to one of the emergency jumpstart booster packs and get a lot more voltage and hence a lot better flow, they last longer and are very rugged. @@PatrickRemington depends on the rating of the pump. Most of these small pumps have variable ratings. The one I have says it's good for 18-4v. The car jump starter I have is advertised as 12 volts but actually puts out 14.1 volts when put on a voltmeter. 🤷🏼♂️

I bought a 5 pack of the Scepter cans and one leaks at the neck. Scepter is replacing it but doesn't need the defective one back, I'm going to make this with it.
I've held off on getting those quick disconnects for a few years because the descriptions were lackluster. If I knew they were both valved and no spill I'd have done it to begin with. I'm a trucker and I use 2 scepter cans interchangeably for water, and a marine 12v pump. Currently I just put a length of 3/8 id flexible hose through the spout and found a hose with a 5/8 od which seals perfectly to the spout with a regular o-ring. This will be so much easier.
Every build I have seen using the pump inside the secptor water can, they always use the JB weld Plastic adhesive to glue the bulkhead adapter to the cap for the water can. RTV, Silicone, all other rubber type sealants leak at the cap. The JB Weld plastic adhesive is the only thing that doesn’t leak. Just some food for thought
Great setup. Using an expanding hose will cause loss of pressure since it's trying to inflate the hose. Try a different hose and am sure you will see the pressure go up.
I drive a truck, flatbed, and am usually absolutely filthy by the time I get done securing and tarping my loads. 9 times out of 10 I am out of hours to legally drive and end up having to stay at the customer - filthy - trying to use baby wipes and or bottled water. It works, kinda, but never to my satisfaction. I am definitely going to try this using a large tote to stand in and a shower curtain suspended from my tall cabinets. This is going to be amazing! I had the same thoughts watching. Could Paint it, Black 4.0 or similar. I would also be tempted to put some open celled foam blocks into the canister with a hole made to take the pump. This will stop the pump moving about and retain orientation.
Main issue I see is with the wiring running from the pump to the rear of the container is every time you unscrew the cap to fill with water you are twisting that wiring all around. I think you would be better off mounting the pump through the can somewhere other than the lid and then taking the cap on and off does not affect the pump, hoses or wiring at all.

Mr. Remington when I saw you drilling the back side of water can on the seam I was thinking no don't offset to the side at least. Good on your videos showing that anyone can make their own stuff and don't need to just buy high dollars stuff.
Nice. If you use a quick disconnect to match the one on the Can to connect the hose to the nozzle, when stored, you can connect the hos to itself, an davoid spils and drips potentially damaging your battery and other electrical components. A remote switch between the battery and pump would make it so you don;t have to dig for the battery to turn the system on. Use a black jerry can (or paint yours) for some solar heartng. I built something similar about 40 years ago. It used a 24V bilge pump from a military vehicle (Army), and wired it into a standard trailer pigtail for power. We had gasoline fired immersion heaters that dropped into a garbage can or 55gal drum, and this lashup dropped in, and let us have hot showers while in the field. Everybody made fun of it when I was putting it together. The laughter stopped after the first hot bath they had had in a couple of weeks. The deal was, you show up with 5 gallons of water, you get 5 gallons of shower.
Add a quick connect to the outlet and you can attach other items. Just spent a weekend in 100+ degree heat and a mister system would have been great during the afternoon heat.
The nice thing about it too is it’s portability from the vehicle I like that. In a pinch it could be a quick small fire extinguisher. Say if your campfire embers were a problem. This could be a very quick solution before it got out of hand.
Perfect for an after surf shower. Would be best mounted in the back of an SUV or truck bed with camper. I could use one of those in the summer just to cool off outside!
Great setup! Just too much stuff for me. I use baby wipes. Can go for 2-3 days until I hotel did. Did continental divide border to border this past July in my 4R.
I went through the cap also so it can be moved from can to can and cut the retention ring off of it.. also bought a black can that works great for a nice warm shower.
Had to Subscribe on this '4th' video Patrick. We think alike and after viewing 3 other vids on rocket stoves and how to improve them, your mindset to 'improve' projects is exactly how I tackle objectives. You do a great job. Very inspiring to those that look at these. Keep it up!
I built something almost like this, but instead of needing a power source for an electrical pump, I used a bicycle pump to pressurize the jerry can. Works great if two people are there, so one can pump when pressure gets low, or for a quick rinse. I found that with a good pressurization, you can get about two minutes of decent pressure from a can 2/3 full. I found a full can doesn't allow for ample air to be pressurized with just a hand pump. I would also point out I used a metal jerry can. Plastic should work, but you'd want one that is thick, or reinforced to take the pressuring over and over. I'm going to add your idea with a power pump and keep mine as a backup. I'm not lazy, but I like to work smarter, not harder if I can. The added pump won't add much weight/space anyway.
The constant pressure may prematurely weaken the seams and cause a leak. I just rewired the hose and electrical wire for a 12 volt pump through the smaller cap opening so it can be plugged into a cigarette lighter.
Not being a negative Nelly, but . . . I’d use a soldering iron cutting blade to cut the hole in the bag for the wiring. Nylon frays, and a burnt end will delay the inevitable. That’s the simple option. Little more complicated would be to add a metal grommet to the hole.
Just a advise,Maybe you could add a pressure switch in the outlet, that could automatic shutdown the pump when the sprayer is close, can save some power and avoid damage the pump.
I just totally bought one off of Amazon for half the price and half the time but I appreciate guys making things way more complicated than they need to be
First video of yours I've seen. Very nice idea, assembly, and presentation. I subscribed! Hope to see a video update with the stronger pump if you do that.
What a wonderful video cleverly thought out an absolute credit to you. I thank you for sharing everything with the world regards Johnno in the high country Australia.
Very cool! 😊 Too bad the pump doesn’t turn on and off by the pressure of the sprayer. Turns on when you pull, then it shuts off when you release the trigger.
I was going to do a full on shower in my build but filling/draining the water alone would be a nightmare. Would definitely do something like this as a backup.
Patrick, You're a genius. You make it look so easy from someone who isn't mechanically inclined. I have a portable shower that is powered from my truck with a 50 foot cord. I usually camp in the winter and use a 7 gallon water container. I heat the water on the stove first and the temperature is perfect. I'm trying to figure out a way to cycle the water from one canister to a pot on the stove and then have that hot water drain into a second 7 gallon canister. Any suggestions? Could you build something like that?
Nice job and clean build. Maybe run the wire and power source into the small pocket to separate it from the hose since it'll be wet after use. Too bad you couldn't find a male hose mending kit, but it could be a positive - You can fill the can through the pump by hooking up the hose to a faucet. No need to unscrew the lid or use another hose.
Thank you! I was able to find it online and swapped it out. That is a good idea. Hadn't thought of using it to fill the can. The bag does have a little separator so that they aren't in the same spot but its not waterproof so I put the battery in a small Ziploc so it doesn't get wet.
Заметили ошибку конструкции, когда будешь закручивать крышку скрутятся шланг и провод. А так зачёт, надо придумать как этого избежать и тоже сделать такой душ. С меня подписка, мне нравятся каналы с идеями.
I notice that there's the possibility of accidentally hitting the power switch on the battery when loading the bag and hose into the bag. If you're not attentive, you might end up with a dead power pack that's drained past the ability to recharge. Aside from that, this build looks great!
Couple thoughts, it would be nice to have a manual back-up system, some kind of manual pump. I hate electric systems that don't have manual back-ups. Might consider painting the tank black to make it a nice little hot water passive Solar system.
Just a word of warning, most of these jerry cans are two halves electronically welded - melted at the seam to create a single unit. Constant flexing under varying pressures of inflating the can will eventually cause seam failure, and the contents will spill out. Unless the can was designed to handle constant varying pressures, I'd be careful. Most pressurized containers are cylinder shaped or round for a reason.
Yes for any of those that want to put a pump sprayer in one of these yes you are right. Not meant to be pressurize. What I did in this video doesn’t pressurize anything but the hose.
All Product links are in the Description!
That was awesome
Awesome set up. Just an idea If you put the battery in the pocket with the charger it won't get wet when you put the hose away.

Keep it up!
Could also be used for a sink since you are using fresh water too
I built something almost like this, but instead of needing a power source for an electrical pump, I used a bicycle pump to pressurize the jerry can.
I just use a weed sprayer with an extended hose and a kitchen water hand-held-sprayer on it.
Great idea. No need for a battery
Hi how much does it cost in total ? What weight ? Thx
Do you have to constantly pump it to maintain water pressure?
you have to manually pump it but it will retain some pressure. Just use water sparingly.@@skysteppes
@skysteppes1017 yes you do have to constantly pump, the wider the outlet the more you would have to pump.
Not being a negative Nelly, but . . . I’d use a soldering iron cutting blade to cut the hole in the bag for the wiring. Nylon frays, and a burnt end will delay the inevitable. That’s the simple option. Little more complicated would be to add a metal grommet to the hole.
Just a advise,Maybe you could add a pressure switch in the outlet, that could automatic shutdown the pump when the sprayer is close, can save some power and avoid damage the pump.
can you share alink of the pressure switch your suggesting, thank you
I like it! Love that bag option as good for keeping hoses!
I have a black tank like that. Whe are going to create a shower like that in our trailer! Nice video!
With the surgical tubing I use a ink pen in the center to roll it up then roll it onto the fitting.🤙
This was an awesome video! My husband and I do a lot of disperse camping so this would be so much nicer then a wash bucket! thanks for the video!
This is actually very good idea! Thank you for sharing this project.👍
I just totally bought one off of Amazon for half the price and half the time but I appreciate guys making things way more complicated than they need to be
Thanks! You seem nice
First video of yours I've seen. Very nice idea, assembly, and presentation. I subscribed! Hope to see a video update with the stronger pump if you do that.
Great! The bag looks like it was made specially for it
What a wonderful video cleverly thought out an absolute credit to you. I thank you for sharing everything with the world regards Johnno in the high country Australia.
Thats awesome i haven't seen one of these yet i will be building one over the winter now!
You definitely should!
I wonder if you hit glued that bag to the side if it would work even better for ya. Love the idea!
Very cool! 😊 Too bad the pump doesn’t turn on and off by the pressure of the sprayer. Turns on when you pull, then it shuts off when you release the trigger.
Glad you found the step drill 😀
Brilliant video mate
Very nice compact all-in-one setup. I have other solutions, but this might just replace everything. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip that value - been looking for a solution for that
Nice idea and build! Definitely gives me some ideas to play around with while I wait for spring :)
I was going to do a full on shower in my build but filling/draining the water alone would be a nightmare. Would definitely do something like this as a backup.
Great video. Really like your personality. 👏
I’m cooler in person 😎😂
I got a 55-gallon drum barrel and flex-tail portable shower… refreshing on a hot day.
Can you provide a tutorial how to use the drill properly for newbies.., especially, the using the different bits for different assignments..Thx
Is the Anker C1000 LithiumIon or Lithium Phosphate and is power output thru cigarette lighter rated to what volts?
This would be great with a submergible heater 12 volts 300/600 watts.
I think your video and build were both great. Thanks for the inspiration.
🙏🏼🌴🐈🐈🐈🌴🏴☠️
Can u make a video on how to have warm water with it
Ok I'm sold, just sell me that one and we are good! Great video sir!
Barb to male hose is with the inground sprinkler components.
great vid, I would think about adding electric heater inside, running of 12V or 5V.
Really nice, clean, looking job.
Very nice pitch for the power supply. It prompted me to take a look however, I could not find a listing of the weight.
Unique and excellent idea. Thanks much.
nice build! for case of battery you could install a plastic box with a door like pelican or something! good job!
Great idea. I was looking for something to clean the dog off before getting into the car.
Great job man! Love it. I am in the process of buying a shower but this has me seriously reconsidering.
What were you considering?
A proper shower head mounted on a pump spray bottle works well too and no electrical power need.
Love the surfboard hanging up
Love timber boards
Good job on the shower too

You should try using a chemical sprayer, the ones with small motor. More water efficient.
Another great idea my brother, thank you
thank you!
Great solution 👍
I would use that to water the plants.
👍👍👍
AWESOME JOB! Love it! I have a shower system already, but man I'm going to make one for the camp sink.
I think this very compact and neat!
I was gonna build this for tonight, but gave up after the requirements 😢
Thanks for sharing the product descriptions. We bought the pump a year ago and it's super solid. Have you had any issues with it?
I absolutely love this idea!!!! Thank you!
