    This is what I should have began with for 6G flying. A novice...admittedly, but my hovering skills are good. Crashed up my K100 and lost the tail motor. The 120 has the tail motor in a housing. I really like that. Think I'm going to upgrade.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      6G mode really helps to make flying easy, but if you intend to progress to 3D flight, you must not get used to 6G mode. It will severely hinder your progression to advanced flight. To most pilots, 6G is unintuitive, and builds bad habit.

    Hello again. How are you enjoying your k120? I've heard bad reports about the servos, that break easily, and the boards, that just won't work out of the box either. What's your opinion about this heli now?

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest, I haven't been flying my K120, so I cannot provide actual comment on its durability. However, it is understandable (or even expected) that the servos are fragile. You could mod the servo arms to allow it to slip in a crash; that may help save the servos.
      I can't comment on the board because from my experience with electronics, they hardly fail.
      My K120 worked out of the box; maybe the recent batches are of inferior quality (poor QC)?

    Cool addition to your fleet sir! :D It looks to use the same lipo as the 150 DFC? (same style of packaging as well by the way ;))
    Nice video sir!

      +Fyre SG Yeah.. I have the 150 DFC here. Same lipo's... I must say that makes this XK K120 interesting for me :)

      +DutchRC Adventures It does yes, they fit and work. Removing them is tricky though as the plastic is slightly thicker and catches on the horizontal struts on the skids. I think just making a slice in the middle of those struts to allow it to flex and pop out would sort it. WIll try when I get some more skids as banggood sells them now. Here's what I mean:

      +MicroRCFiend Yeah.. I saw you struggle with that in the video.. I have the same 'problem' with the Trex 150 DFC by the way. Hard to get the lipo to connect.. and hard to get it out (unless you have a good crash :P)

    hi, I have a k110 and a hcp100s. k110 is very nice to fly, but the tail won't hold properly in tail first maneuvers. could it be due to bad batteries? I've been watching videos on youtube and I just can't believe mine won't fly that well like theirs. hcp100s is too wild for me. also feels quite heavy in the air. I bet very little will survive after a crash, right? how about the k120 tail authority? does it hold better than k110's ? could you please compare k120 to k110 and hcp100s?

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Several causes to poor tail holding:
      1. Worn out tail motor.
      2. Any form of vibrations.
      3. Accidental application of rudder trim.
      4. Worn out batteries.
      I only have K120 & HCP100S, but not K110. I would say HCP100S is the most powerful and wildest helicopter of the two. Both hold their tails very well.

    • @jctgf
      @jctgf 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot for your reply. It seems I have a slightly bent tail motor shaft. Do you think using a "real" radio, like a Futaba, would make it fly better? Just want to cover all possibilities. Thanks again.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, if you can afford a real radio, then you'll benefit from the enhanced precision of the gimbals. However, the improvement is minimal - the gimbals on the stock transmitter is actually very, very good. The best upgrade for micro helis, is high-performance batteries.

    Hello nice to meet you
    i have some heli v977, xk100, xk110. I found the same problem that is the tail can not lock or can not calm down, especially if for 3D tail overwhelmed, is it for xk k120 too?

      i have two xk110 and they perform great. if you want the tail to hold fit tail blades & rotor blades from mcpx bl2 and decrease the pitch by 10/15%. and set gyro at 41% .

    Frey sg I just purchased the XK 120 without the transmitter ! I have two transmitter's for the XK plus I have a Futaba 9C. I told my cousin that I purchased the 110 and also told him that I only payed 107.00 dollars for it ! Well he ordered the XK 120 and broke it within 5 hour's !! But he then got a simulater R,F 7.5 which is so good of a simulater that I think is the best simulater ever !! But anyways I'm wondering if you know of a conversion for the tail ? I now own a 110 and two 120's with 6 batteries and an extra tail plus I also have 7 tail motors. Which would be an awesome upgrade to convert the 110 to. I've been flying the FREYA EX 90 / Avant head and Frame kit !! I just got a Dominator that my cousin bought me. I traded him a RTF T-REX 600. Do you know of a conversion for the 120 ? My other cousin is kinnion Bankston which has a hunting show called Southern Boyz Outdoors !! Can you tell me if there is a conversion kit and price !?

      Frey it's awesome to be a member of your site and I thank you very much for what I have learned from you about F,P,V drones ! I believe that I could have a major advantage to excelling the sport to a faster more economical way of racing. I'm the fastest Motocross racer to ever race ! I'm known for people thinking that I'm someone I'm not do to doing something that I really didn't want to do ! But it was God that got me into this hobby !! I shattered both my legs after stabbing the face of another huge Table Top jump 140 feet away from take off ! I'm very lucky to be alive and I've saved many peoples lives which is why I believe I survived my accident. But I don't like telling people anymore about what could have easily destroyed me but instead I rose up and became a pro RC Helicopter pilot and while I was in a wheelchair I learned to hover ) fly and I got bit by the helicopter bug. Big time which I then got a settlement which messed my life up but what don't kill us makes us stronger !! AMEN
      . I've asked you what is the best drone for me to start of being able to race ! Which money is no problem. Being I will purchase a learning drone to a full race ready machine. I've flown Futaba most of my life ! I really miss my 9Z Because of 13 point pitch and Throttle curves !! Which if setup correctly allows one to eliminate the govener which I have a Futaba GV-1 govener for my 9C Futaba 7channel radio. But I've decided to go with the 8 Chanell radio by J,R which a real good friend of mine named Scott Grey who I haven't seen since 2006 at the Birmingham Funfly. I've been offered a sponsor to fly for Mikado after Henry Caldwell saw my Logo 10 which I had a Hacker B-12 with a 14 C size batteries in paralal ! I built it off , of a setup from a logo 10 sponsered pilot who I can't think of his name at the moment but he used to be competing with Curtis Youngblood. Anyways I'm about to start applying myself for our future as well as pass on my information and get as many people into our amazing hobby of flying RC Helicopter's / Jet's and racing drones. Other than being very happy to have someone like yourself who has flown both collective pitch Helicopter's to F,P,V drones. My name is Jason Falcon and I learned to fly in a chair which took my mind off of my life threating accident in Motocross !! I'm the only racer in the history of M,X Racing to go from Beginer to pro in 9 month's or under a year. I didn't realize that after two years of Racing that I would become the the greatest in a great hobby / living. At the start of my third year of racing I was training for my next race which I would have raced pro Because I decided that it wouldn't be fair for everyone else for me to race Larreta Lynn 'S Mark Barrnet told me that he would vouch for me and let everyone know that I've only been Racing for 2 year's Because I would win all 7 races hands down. I'm faster on a 125 and in Supercross I could race a K,T,M 125/150 and I swear I would lap at least 10 racers of only 20 on the starting gate. There is alot of people that love to tell other. People that in Motocross that something is imposable just because they have never seen it done . Sorry for such a long story of my life and how I got into Flying RC Helicopter's !! All my life I wanted to follow in my uncle's foot steps being he retired as one of our top General's flying the F-16 Fighting Falcon/ viper. He went to Desert Storm flying our A-10 thunderbolt II and did some major damage which I won't talk to him about it out of respect. But when I was 14 I was 6'2 and he said that a person of my height is too tall and now I'm 6'8 which I used all my talent and height to become the fastest 125 racer in the world. I'm not bragging I didn't mean to accomplish what I did with in the time frame for which took all the top racers all there life from children racing all there life. Which I did accomplish in 9 months what they had in experience was the only advantage to racing they had on me. The main reason I have explained the first things I accomplished was at the start of my third year to start Racing ! I then had my accident on January 20th 01. But as I progressed in flying r,c Helicopter's. I became able to walk again which really helped. With my flying !! My main reason for posting this , this time is because I'm really loving my XK 120's ! And I bent the spindle on both of my XK 120's but I've managed to use the metal swashplate, and metal main hub, with the plastic XK 110. I've also got a XK 110 electric board and Speed control on a XK 120 with the 3.7 battery and plug which I'm going to use a 3.7 battery with 600 mah. Plus I have a XK 110 with the 7.2 volt battery and Speed control of, off a XK 120 and meaneged to run the XK 120 tail on my upgraded XK 110. I love these little heli's Because there is so much you can do if you put your own personal upgrade's which all the parts for the most part are interchangeable other than the main frames. Plus I'm amazed at how well the gyros hold !! As long as you do smooth flight with all percision then you can really have fun with a Helicopter that's not expensive and if you have a few different XK's there is so much that you can do. Plus my next step is to get a Scale kit which has 3/4 bladed head with a wider battery and trey. So there very ecenomical in flight performance with all the different ways of setting them up. This heli bit me back to my T-REX 600 Dominator , T-REX 250 Pro and last is I'm getting my AVANT 90 YS WITH AVANT Frame on my EX FREYA / AVANT Head which I'm converting to Flybarless and shaft driven tail !! Although I've always loved the tail on the FREYA. But I'm so excited to be flying / taking advantage of the XK line of awesome machine's there a blast or a Shuttle Lol and worth there weight in gold. They can break easily but if you fly them over high grass and always hit throttle hold then nobody shouldn't have any problems maintaining them as long as you always take off from a smooth serfice there pretty incredible Happy New year Frey and I hope that I can find a conversion for the tail hopefully I'm going to try the HCP100S tail which I should be able to convert. 😎✈🚁🏁

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Real servos? Do you mean the linear servos? To be honest, those are better for micros. While they do not react as fast as the rotary ones, they are super durable and almost indestructible in a crash. I've never replaced a single linear servo but several rotary ones.

    • @petertothRC-FPV
      @petertothRC-FPV 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      they slip out often and cause crash if you push it.i put the carbon fiber main shaft on my v977.the collar slides in a crash and saves the servo from damage many times.saves a little weight also.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one is not bad for learning, but its smaller brother (*XK K110*) is more durable to learn 3D. The new WLtoys V950 is large and fragile, so it's not good for 3D beginners.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not V950; it's big and more fragile. XK K120 is a better choice. You get to adjust rates, expo, pitch and throttle curves on K120 and not V977. Adjustments are very important for beginners to customize the behavior and response of the helicopter.

    hi. i have one and when i power up (in 6g) it goes up (barely off the ground) and tilts to right and i can't trim it to go up straight. i checked all connections and landing gear is in tight. any idea what might be wrong? isn't the gyro supposed to keep it from tilting?

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Firstas Lastas, you need to get your pitch range. It is very difficult for me to explain how to do that. The idea is at 3D mode, Idle-Up and Throttle Hold, positive pitch must be equals to negative pitch.

    • @asian-ugrclab2367
      @asian-ugrclab2367 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fyre SG received my k120 last week. The front servo seemed to over heat and start to melt. Maybe a bad batch. I've read 2 other people had the same issue.
      I also have the V950. Didn't you say you were really happy with it?
      (I'm still a new pilot also)

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Servo melting could be due to manufacturing defect, or the pilot's failure to check that the servo arm is partially blocked such that it can't get the full range of motion. Yes, manufacturing defect is common, and you should definitely take a photo of the servo and contact customer service.
      I have V950 and I am happy with it. But it is definitely not in the league of K120 because I have to fly it outdoors, and I have to be more careful with it; no mucking around with it! Given a choice, I would fly K120 aggressively, while V950 is more of "scale flight", i.e. cruising around.

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +J.P. Saliven, V977 is definitely out of the picture; it has no advantage. If you want top performance but slightly less stability, then HCP100S is the one for you. Otherwise, go for XK K120, which has a nice balance between performance and stability.

    • @j.p.saliven5584
      @j.p.saliven5584 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! ;) I have seen a V977 in your video. What is your propblem with it? Is has not stability or performance? I am far from pro pilot yet. Both of what you prefer useable indoor too?

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +J.P. Saliven, V977 comes with a non-programmable transmitter. That is a huge issue because most pilots would like to fine-tune their helicopters to their preferences. All three helicopters are not suitable for indoors. It is just too dangerous, unless you are Nick Maxwell. Search TH-cam for "nick maxwell axe 100 ss". :)

    • @j.p.saliven5584
      @j.p.saliven5584 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is unterstudable becouse the V977 is the cheepest.
      Is it normal in this price category if the rudder is left after the reach the required direction after a few secounds the tail start to turn slowly?

    • @fyresg
      @fyresg  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +J.P. Saliven, have you seen XK K110? If price is of concern, XK K110 is a much better choice than V977. What you have described is known as tail drift or rudder drift. This has to do with vibrations on the helicopter, and can be fixed on cheap helicopters such as V977 by finding the source of the vibrations, then eliminating them.
