The most beautiful song ever. Absolutely Classic and gracefull.
This is my favorite recording of this piece…it is unalloyed perfection. Leontyne and Fiorenza is are still with us…which is a blessing!

What a charismatic performance that was. Its like time traveling to see a performance half a century old.
There simply are no superlatives available to adequately extol this magnificent performance. Whereas all the soloists are superb, a special mention must be accorded Leontyne Price's magnificntly beautiful singing here. Von Karajan's interpretation displays an incredibly effective attention to details often overlooked is wrapped in glory.

The soloists are so balanced and blend wonderfully in timbre and volume. A rarity to have such a quartet for sure.

Un giovanissimo Von Karajan in piena forma in una sublime esecuzione di un assoluto capolavoro di quel gigante che onora l'Italia (che di "onore" oggi ne ha tanto bisogno).
Avete Verdi, Puccini, Rossini... e siete la culla dell'opera. È assolutamente incredibile. È vero che ce ne sono altri, non così grandi. Ma gli italiani sono persone fantastiche finché non iniziano a spiegare in inglese che Leontyne Price ha un accento inglese in italiano. Questa è davvero una "situazione". Ma viva l'Italia
Karajan aveva 59 anni in quell'anno. "Giovanissimo" sembra un po' esagerato ;)

It’s hard to listen to this objectively- Miss Leontyne turns my innards to jelly.
For me this is the best recording of Verdis Requiem,Karajan shows his greatness with singers.Price is suprem and the mezzo follows her. But the tenor and the bass is not in the same class. Bjørling was better in requiem…and many basses could sing his par more beutifull…..Yes,I mean that…o.k.

Yeah, the tenor and the bass are complete nobodies. I don't think they had very successful careers.
Best tenors here were Caruso and di Stefano, the second present at the Toscanini integral recording. The best bass here imo was Raimondi, as in the 1982 LPO recording
Luciano Pavarotti and Nicolai Ghiaurov are not nobodies.
There is no audience. This is basically a “recording” session with the visuals added (and everyone dressed up for good measure). Totally valid of course, but a recording nonetheless.
Aren´t all videos "recordings"?!
