Maybe you heard the Sanskrit lyrics and words that are similar to Telugu/Tamil/Kannada. That's why you may have thought so.

Why? Why? Why?...Who ever mixed this in Malayalam, why this kolaveri? You destroyed the song "Manohari"...You could have just retained the Telugu version of that song...Rest of the songs are OK...

I heard both versions in a studio headphone and felt like the Malayalam version's vocal was poorly mixed in some old and bad quality hardware. Also the lyrics didn't feel like matching the tune. But then, it may also be differing from person to person...
