Well articulated, Dawnita. Having to defend Christian practices usually means giving a history lesson. When you know the history, it makes sense. I'm proud at how much Christians have managed to fend off imposed paganism. Yes, Christmas is not Christ's real birthday, but we've made it into something beautiful and holy.

Hi I'm commenting about the tree stuff here because I'm not sure my comment is good enough for the Magazine, lol. Jeremiah, I think it's in chapter 10 talks about "Nicolaitans" and what seems to be a Christmas tree, telling us not to do it.
My personal feelings, I do not feel comfortable doing Christmas anymore. Like you said there are so many stories about trees... and the bible says we are not to combine our worship of the Lord with any other traditions.... something like "when I send you to your new land, do not follow after the traditions of those other people" and something like "do not worship me as the heathen do, but worship me in spirit and in heart, for God is a spirit" and then "you cannot eat at the Lord's table and another king's table".
I'm sorry I'm not saying those quotes right and do not know exactly where they are in the bible.
My heart tells me those scriptures mean we are not to combine holidays and that we are not to do the Christmas tree thing. What do you think? I've researched so many different origins of the Christmas tree, from St Nicholas to a representation of Nimrod's personal.... male body part... it seems like a lot of confusion and drama. Our God is not the God of confusion.

@@prairiedust if you want to use that comment it's ok. I just didn't want to sound uneducated. I also want to add the scripture that says something like, "do not eat if you don't have faith, for faith is required to please God, so if you eat and do not have faith, you are sinning". So because I do not feel comfortable celebrating Christmas, I have not faith.

And ps - if you use that in any way, feel free to clean it up or paraphrase it, lol, or add the scriptures, whatever is needed. And I don't need credit for it, that part doesn't matter to me.
