    In this video, we take take to the skies in the Lionheart Creations Bucker BU-131B "Jungmann", within Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS).
    We'll be starting on the ground at Burning Blue Design's Martha's Vineyard; after a full startup, we will be heading over to Katama Airfield for some touch and go's and then returning to Martha's Vineyard for a full stop landing. Hopefully the flight should give us a great opportunity to review the product as we go and find out what the "Jungmann" is all about.

    One of the biggest attractions to have this kind of aircraft in the sim in the first place is how they sound.
    I was fairly interested in this aircraft, but not having an actual aircraft sound set makes it a no for me.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep, a very fair / valid point Sleight. A large part of an aircrafts vintage character comes from the sounds. The C172 soundset also misses a lot vs the ambiance you want from an open-cockpit aircraft. A shame. . .

      I'm a bit late to the party but flicking through the manual it does mention 'Sound Pack has now been improved to a new vintage 4 cylinder engine very similar to the classic Hirth 504 four cylinder.'

    now I watched your (very nice as always) review before making the purchase, and I did it right. I have a whole collection of aircraft that I never fly (because they’re rubbish quality), but purchased simply because I have some sort of family tie to them haha.
      In all seriousness though, sadly this one isn’t anything particularly special. Worth picking up in a sale though for sure - if only to honour your grandpa ; )
      A shame it couldn’t have been a slightly more sophisticated offering. It’s not bad, but it’s a bit basic in some areas for sure.

    I was really looking forward to your review of the Jungmann, and I think you have once again done a very good job of describing and showing the pros and cons of the plane. I love the way it looks, but the sounds and flight model don't get me excited enough to buy it at full price. The Stearman is my favorite biplane in MSFS at the moment, the sounds really create that feeling of sitting in an open cockpit.Too bad the Jungmann cannot compete in this area, because I mainly use the Stearman in the US and would have liked to fly the Bücker in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

    Hello again, great review as usual. Yep, when you have a 4 cylinder inverted engine, it makes sense to use a horizontally-opposed flat engine as its soundset, not. The aircraft itself doesn't look too bad, but I'm really hanging out for Ant's Tiger Moth Pro in MSFS. Is anyone doing add-on soundsets for MSFS yet?

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks very much again John!
      Indeed, not an ideal solution. As I mentioned during the video; I can appreciate that not every dev may be capable / have the resources to create an accurate custom sound set, but the use of default sounds then needs to be reflected in the price (I think). A large part of the “vintage” appeal of many aircraft is the sound. With default sounds, I’d be knocking 25% off the asking price straight off the bat.
      Like you though, what I’m really looking forward to is Ant’s Tiger Moth. I gather it’s in the works and obviously Ant just released his Drifter for MSFS recently - so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
      As to custom MSFS sound sets; there are one or two devs creating such products (I gather there is a nice sound pack for the CRJ for example). Interestingly though, I see people have been using TSS soundsets with MSFS addons, so there must be some cross-compatibility there. . .
      All the best! : )

  • @supertyfon1736
    @supertyfon1736 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Some Jungmanns have been fitted with 150 hp (110 kW) Lycoming O-320 or 180 hp (130 kW) O-360 four-cylinder horizontally-opposed engines so not to far off sound wise.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair enough ST, although believe it’s a straight 4 modelled here (by the looks of it)? Again, I don’t think the sounds are all that bad per se, it’s just a shame not to have a custom soundest, especially when I’d imagine the Jungmann sounds considerably nicer than your average 172 hehe.
      All the best! : )

    • @supertyfon1736

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations LHC dos not know how to make sound packs for MSFS planes at the moment. But who knows in the near future, a Hirth might be found.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s fair enough and it’s all far more than I could ever accomplish! As I said during the video, I can understand that it’s hard for smaller devs to come up with sophisticated / accurate soundsets - I do think the price point should reflect the use of default sounds though, as engine sounds are often a big part of the “vintage” appeal. The sounds weren’t a dealbreaker for me, but I know they were a disappointment for some. I certainly thought it was worth a mention anyway. . .

    Kinda want this one, I do love me an old bi-plane, I fly the Stearman and WACO quite a bit! Shame about the sounds, think the other LHC planes also use default sounds because the dev hasn't figured out the new sound systems yet for MSFS but he does seem to improve his planes over time so hopefully he'll figure it out and we'll get better sounds. I did have some LHC stuff for FSX/P3D that I quite enjoyed and I'd like to do so again with MSFS! My major gripe though is that it's only marketplace. On the offiical LHC website it does have placeholder links for other online stores and a coming soon sign but after a month still marketplace exclusive and I'd much rather get it direct or from Just Flight or something so I'm gonna hold out until then.
    Also really excited for Ant's Tiger Moth making its way to MSFS. It can't come soon enough! Thanks for the vid!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s by no means a “bad” offering, it’s just quite “middle of the road” at the moment; whereas both the Stearman and the Waco have their own little selling points.
      I can certainly appreciate that it’s not easy for smaller devs to create accurate soundsets (and I empathise), but it is of course still a shame, as the sounds are a large part of the charm of these vintage aircraft. As you mention though, it sounds like LHC has been taking good care of the Trinidad, so hopefully the Jungmann will get the same treatment.
      I’m sure you’ll still enjoy it overall Megadyptes - but like you, this is just one that I can squint at and pretend it’s a Tiger Moth; once Ant’s offering makes it into the sim, I suspect this one will be sent to the museum for retirement ; )

    A few accuracy issues with the model. 1) The Jungmann does not have a parking brake. 2) No mention of using the very important tail wheel lock on the Bucker. The tail wheel locks the tailwheel to the rudder to allow steering. The first thing you do on getting in a Bucker is lock the tailwheel to the rudder and the last thing you do is unlock it when getting out. The sim does show the lever just below the mag switch. 3) The mixture should be full rich at full back. The reverse of most current aircraft. 4) The seating/view position is very high. You cant really see over the nose in the real thing no matter how tall you are. The seat in the jungmann does not have any adjustment (the jungmeister does). 5) Most jungmann do not have lights.

      Hi SDBF,
      Thanks for the info. I’d imagine the addition of a parking brake was a little concession for the sim. The tailwheel lock may have been a miss on my part, but I don’t recall having seen any mention of it in the included checklist. I’m sure there are a number of inaccuracies with the addon; whilst it’s certainly a pretty model, it doesn’t feel like the level of attention to detail is quite there in some areas. . .

It’s prettier than the Stearman, but not as nice as the Waco (in terms of modelling, texturing etc). Systems-wise all three are about on a par with one another. The way I see it David, there are 5 main categories I’m looking for when when buying an addon:
      1) Flight model comes first and is of course generally the most important (though I can forgo it somewhat, if we’re looking at a really beautiful recreation of an aircraft in every other way - the aircraft does at least need to be “pleasant” to fly though). All the other categories hinge around number 1.
      2) Modelling / texturing
      3) Sounds
      4) Systems
      5) “Fun factor”
      I can usually forgo a product being somewhat deficient in category 2 / 3 / 4 or 5, so long as it does all the others well.
      Here though, we have a product that has an average flight model, average sounds and average systems depth. I still enjoyed the Jungmann, but it doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking, that’s for sure. As you say, it’s very much lacking any “wow-factor” sadly. . .
      All the best!

    Not my cup of tea. The flight model has to feel much different then default with these classics. And why we have the possibilities of PBR if we don't use it? At this price? (Not even) One for the gamers! 💙

      Hi Ra,
      Well it’s interesting that you mention the “gamers”, as I can’t imagine this one ever really appealing to them in the first place? I wonder therefore, whether Lionheart Creations realises that it will mostly be “simmers” looking at this one and that we’ll want a decent flight model (that feels noticeably different from default, as you say) and ideally a nice custom soundset as well.
      I can understand why a small dev may not be able to come up with authentic sounds, but then the price needs to reflect that. I enjoy the Jungmann for its aesthetic, but sadly that’s about all it really has going for it currently. It’s not a bad aircraft, but it doesn’t offer anything special vs the competition either unfortunately.
      Cheers : )

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations Agree, maybe jet's are more appealing to the kids. Yet of course many gamers get interested with the consoles and if they have at some point proper peripherals you maybe get some real experiences.
      I hope these unusual/unpopular aircrafts get into the sim with all their beauty. Interesting to fly aircrafts that have design flaws in their concepts (the orignal aircrafts, not the models of course) and to work with these flaws. To experience these differences is the whole point to have different aircrafts at the first place.
      From a standpoint of quality and to get efficiently many aircraft with high fidelity into the sim over the years i would like to see another process of developing.
      As important as visuals and audio are for immersion, small devs simply aren't able to catch it with the necessary fidelity. Microsoft has shown it's expertise and has the tech to scan the visuals and take HQ audio, they would be able to create a small team that over the years adds all that variety into some tech database. Developers can access these raw model for a fee (per model in the marketplace or whatever) and do their actual work/programming: rebuilding the behaviour of the systems in detail, the logic, non-normals - maybe variants of the airframe - still so much work left. Yet this still would require to have access to the aircraft more then once to copy the behaviour and of course real passion and interest for the specific model. More a work of heart at the end, yet what a rich experience for simmer's if we really can feel and even have to fight with the unusual flaws of some airframes... 💙

      That’s a very interesting idea / concept Ra. I wonder if to some extent, it isn’t already being done? I see that FlyignIron purchased some high-fidelity audio recordings of the Hellcat for their upcoming product. I guess there probably is a sizeable library of this sort of stuff kicking around these days.
      Either way, I think your idea is a great one and it’d be nice to perhaps see it come to fruition (I suppose to some degree that’s what we’re seeing with the likes of the Zibo and FBW mods as well).
      Cheers and all the best! : )
