      You are welcome.
      You know expats go to Santiago and look no further. There is so much more to Chile than Santiago. If you only go to Santiago then you have missed 98% of what makes Chile special.
      Many of my Chilean friends HATE Santiago and only lived there because they had to for work, and now you would have a hard time getting them to go there for anything.
      Chile is beautiful. Don''t miss the best part. Jim

    • @ExpatsEverywhere
      @ExpatsEverywhere  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kind of. In general, immigrant (moving with a long term or permanent stay in mind) and expat (short term or temporary stay in mind). So in this case here, she moved to Chile, lived for a couple of years as she was relocated by her company and after her project finished, she went back to South Africa.

    Racisme c'est un grand problème ou chile.

    • @armandobroncasegura5170
      @armandobroncasegura5170 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would say the major issue in Chile is classism rather than racism. People there is prone to judge others according to their social and financial background, that applies from getting your children into a school to getting a promotion on a job. I've met a lot of professionals with postgraduate degrees struggling to get a promotion because they come from humble backgrounds. I think as a consequence of this classism, chilean people end up being racist, but if you are well off and take part of the 'right' social circles you are not going to be discriminated for being asian, black, mixed race or South American aboriginal.

    • @demianmt
      @demianmt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Classism occurs mainly among Chileans and racism with Latin American and African foreigners.

    • @Geraldbux0401

      Racism helps white south africans like her get jobs that actually should be for the locals. They will continue to practice racism so that they can enjoy things at the expense of others.

    • @ExpatsEverywhere
      @ExpatsEverywhere  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're not sure about the point of reference for expensive but Numbeo shows it would take around $2,600 USD in Santiago to match the same standard in NYC if you're making around $8,000.
