    I've noticed a couple of the TH-camrs I watch ended up attending that conference this year. None have stated explicitly that they were (or were not) comp'd or provided discount admission to the event. I presume you, and the others, were provided with some form of accommodation or compensation for attendance. That information is relevant and should be disclosed to your viewers.

    • @ExpatsEverywhere
      @ExpatsEverywhere  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Different creators have different deals with NC. We did a video exchange with NCL and have a disclosure on the piece related to our contract. We weren’t financially compensated at all for this video and actually had to ask them if we could use footage from the beginning of the event. We wanted to make this piece of content because we had a decent amount of our viewers ask us about the conference. - Josh & Kalie

    Thanks K&J for your excellent summary. 👍🏻
    I don’t believe I’d ever be a Nomad Capitalist client (already have 2 passports + don’t meet Andrew’s income threshold), nonetheless I occasionally watch Andrew’s videos as I find them interesting-so I was (naturally) very interested in your summary.
    While it makes sense that many attendees were local (meaning Malaysian), it would make sense (to me anyway) to have this conference in different locations each year. Noticed you shared a table with Amelia & JP-together with you both, the finest TH-camrs that exist.

    He says a few interesting things about taxation (which in many "western" countries have become too high and persecutory, for example France and US charge their citizens even if they live abroad), but the "nomad capitalist" alignes himself with very shady characters and promote nasty countries like dubai (dubai has slave labour and human trafficking...) and he promotes that place as if it was paradise on earth. Places like dubai also have very untrustworthy laws where you can be thrown in jail for snizing on the wrong place. I like low taxes, but I to be in countries where I am safe from being thrown in jail for no reasons, so... No thanks.

    Kalie believe it or not but Estonia just passed the law allowing to deal with the divorce documentation online but it is not 100% online the last 5% of the process is done in person.
    And as an Estonian expat living in Berlin it feels like I entered a time machine and was transported to what is current Germany, where digitalisation is just a buzzword and where paper and Fax still used daily 🤣

    • @ExpatsEverywhere
      @ExpatsEverywhere  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Brad, sorry about that. We figured that people would look into the pricing options that make the most sense to them. If you're traveling as a couple it's a different price than if it's a single ticket and depending on the potential upgrades and VIP things you can do. We got our own hotel room, which was about a 20 minute Grab ride from the conference hotel. There were people we met that didn't stay at the conference hotel but they stayed at a nearby hotel within walking distance or a 5 minute drive. Not staying at the hotel and having our daughter with us meant that we couldn't/didn't want to participate in everything. Price wise, it's several thousand to 10s of thousands depending on a host of variables, but again, you'll have to see what 2025's pricing is like. I imagine that it'll change. - Josh & Kalie

      @ Hello J&K, Thank you for replying, it’s really nice of you to take the time. Honestly this conference is really not for me. I’m not a Nomad and I’m not a Capitalist. I have no money and never had the Entrepreneur spirit. If anything I’m more community based. The opportunities I
      see now in Portugal, and I do see some, would hopefully benefit everyone. I live in Vila Verde, Braga district, a town of about 50k. A funny population, about 65% of the folks are over 50 and 30% are under 21. There is a trade school here, lots of young people. What the town could really use is a Cinema. An idea I might float if I make real local connections. I have been here since Feb. so just getting my feet wet. I have not attended any expat get togethers, not my thing, preferring to mingle with the locals. I did live in Zurich for a total of 10 years in the late 90’s early 2000’s. So I am not without a European point of view. Don’t really want to bore you with my whole life story. But you’ve been very generous with your responses. Wanted share some of me.

    • @ExpatsEverywhere
      @ExpatsEverywhere  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@bradhansen2065 You're welcome. Thank you for your openness and your detailed response and sharing a bit about you. The comment section is generally one of the best and sometimes only ways for us to learn more about your viewers. We appreciate the open dialogue.
      We interviewed a couple that bought a little home in Vila Verde. They love the local feel of it.
      That's a really interesting demographic breakdown. So there aren't really (m)any young families, huh? Parents in their 30s and 40s with young kids?
      Regarding the conference, we genuinely looked at it as a business expense to get there and attend the conference. It's in our niche and important to know what industry leaders are talking about.
      We certainly felt like it's best for high net worth individuals and international entrepreneurs because of the topics and how the information can benefit the attendee. The ROI for those people are much better than the baseline retiree.
      Thanks again for the message. - Josh

    Tax is something objective and based on numbers, it should not be subjected to interpretations. It is pretty straightforward process that can be easily fully automated. Just wondering how come for example NHR is full of interpretations? is it maybe made complicated on purpose, so that tax lawyers and consultants can eat fees? I really hope that AI and automation will entirely takeover the full tax declaration process.

    • @christobar

      @christobar in Portugal it is much more than elsewhere. Not even tax office know how to declare certain incomes under NHR. The only way to get things done in PT is to involve Ombudsman and report tax authority (and tax lawyers) to EU commission.

    Thanks. Very much enjoy your Portugal content.
    It's one thing to find non-grifting ways to reach a level of economic security and to find a sane and stable culture in which to live and be a constructive part of, it's quite another to continually look for ways to expand your wealth beyond what is reasonable, especially if one already has enough to live a high standard for multiple lifetimes. We have a finite time here, on a finite planet, and it's a shame to waste it on pursuing excess.

I’m not at all surprised about the talk of Venezuela and Cambodia (a collapsing petrostate wracked by political instability, economic crisis, and increasing crime that’s forcing waves of fleeing refugees and a former war zone with a very low cost of living relative to developed western nations and thus much economic development promise)-buy low sell high.
