The loot filter and the fact that everything drops identified (there is no unidentified items) is amazing. You can exactly filter for what you want for your current build.

1000 hours here. It's fantastic. Easily better than the current competition (I have 2000+ hours in most of the competition, lots more than that in PoE). The depth / build complexity is unparalleled in Last Epoch. Also, it has BY FAR the best, most deterministic crafting system I've ever seen in any game; absolutely wonderful.
hey there, i just played poe for a bit and do enjoy it a lot but LE looks so good aswell. Cant get enough time in both to decide which one is the one to play. Would you recommend LE over poe?
@@fizzybeard7291 endgame in LE is still quite lacking compared to POE. Definitely a nice game to pick up and play a character for 50hrs or so and then move onto the next build. In POE, you could play an entire league on a single character and still have things to do.
@@evirs That's not really a fair comparison tho, saying that POE has a better/bigger endgame, as POE have been out for a looong time, and LE is literally still in EA coming out in a day lol.

@@Daerilys I'm jealous. I didn't wait and now I'm already addicted before it's even released. It's honestly such a good ARPG... And I had pretty moderate expectations going into it. Particularly coming straight from Diablo 4 it really makes you appreciate what the devs have done with Last Epoch.
0.9 is a bit buggy with the introduction of mp, but LE is well on it's way to being great.
@@erk8520 I haven't had any crashing issues myself. Most of my bugs come from traversal skills staying activated while not displaying, or displaying while not being activated. Hope it gets sorted out for ya soon!
For some reason many players seem to miss that even tho you have chosen one mastery you can still spec points into those other 2 aswell giving you much more options when bulding a character.
into the beginning of the trees but you can only go half way so it doesn't make too much sense as later in the trees 1 point gives you more and the stuff in the beginning is easily made up with stats on gear while the stuff you want from the trees isn't. It also stats you're probably not using or like 5% and a stat point you dont need to something where a later tree in your class give 10% and something you want. Synergies are built into classes for a reason
@@baconbyte6761 well that depends what kind of build you are using cause like yea you dont get pretty much anything for bow rogue from bladedancer tree but something like manifest armor forge guard has lots of use from paladins tree since it gives you sigils of hope.
I have 30 hours in this game and I’m loving it. The leveling experience is such a joy. It’s so easy to test stuff out and create your own builds.

My issue with the leveling game is loot just doesn't feel great. Like I can get an item at level 8 with a decent affix and then just use that till like 50+ and idk that just feel weird

been playing echo void knight and its been super fun. Rive with Void cleave and Erasing strike and spin to win as back up.
@@Frostea I did what I called a glassing build with erasing strike because when you max out all those beams that come down it looks like Halo when the covenant glass a planet 🤣 so much fun

VK gang gang. Seriously though the whole aesthetic of the class is so fucking dope, the spells/abilities are cool, the names are cool.
I'm playing it right now and while there are improvements to be made especially in terms of balance, it is an extremely fun game, especially building characters

@@devonwilliams2423 they are very different games, vrising is a more focused experience and a different genre, its survival at heart with some arpg aspects, last epoch is a full on arpg with no survival aspects. Its almost useless to compare the two
@@Nostromo2144 comparing build diversity between two so vastly different games doesnt make sense, the number of interactions a single component of a build in a game like lost epoch is bigger than all the interactions an entire build has in a game as old as that
@@minuette1752 Lmao you think they will do anything substantial for end-game before release? In your dreams. Theyve wasted a significant amount of money on developing the multiplayer, while all aspects of the game have suffered for it. Just to shoe-horn multiplayer in. Well guess what, MP isnt going to save the game since too much of the budget was spent on it. You have MP in a game with no good end-game, missing classes, missing skills, balance issues etc
The necro minions actually look cool. I've been backing this game since the Kickstarter. Honestly, the devs are so damn awesome. The state of the current game is great imho. It's nice to see them get the attention they deserve.
Also, this game has really good controller support. Even with inventory management. So if you have arthritis or want to chill and slay, definitely give the controller a go. Honestly this game is worth its entry cost and then some.

@@txdmsk as a dude who also plays D2 and PoE, I disagree (but see where you are coming from). GGG imho made their game overly complex. Sure they have deep systems, but does it really add to the game. The resource management in terms of mats in that game works like a thousand different people went into a room and no one culled the ideas into a coherent structure. It's objectively shit. I still love the game, but it is by no means a gold standard ARPG from my point of view. Spreadsheets don't make a game good. Sure there is infinite flexibility, but it doesn't stop that game from being dumbed down anymore than other popular ARPGs. The meta still exists. I like where eleventh hour landed. Right in the middle. Fun build options and a straightforward and intuitive crafting system that still offers a lot of flexibility for min maxing. D4 felt way more gamified. You can clearly see who their target audience is going to be. At least I did from participating in both betas. Their skill trees were super basic.
@@txdmsk wholeheartedly agree with a lot of your points. Although the necro minions build in LE is lazy in terms of gameplay, I find the class fun to play long term. I think they nailed the rogue better than most ARPGs have in recent memory. The Paladin is also neat and the void knight is definitely fun to play. I like their skill tree within skills idea. Really let's you theory craft into some unique combos. Makes D4 skill trees look like a joke (comparatively speaking). I still enjoyed my time with D4. It is what it is. I'm aging out and sometimes having a less complex system to dive into is welcome. I work as an engineer in IT and the ability to just have fun in any game almost supercedes the need for artificial complexities. Different strokes for different folks. I can completely understand why D4 is made with a wider audience in mind. I watched their dev video released the other day explaining end game content. The paragon system seemed to be decent enough for further character customization. Nothing like maps in PoE though, but again, these three games are targeting completely different audiences. I can't really complain either way. I'd rather have multiple games to choose from, rather than a single IP to play. I do have high hopes for PoE 2 though.
As a POE veteran Last Epoch is now top of the ARPG tree for me.

I never thought I would agree with a comment like this, but after last season of POE and D4 shitshow, its really taking over my game time. Last Epoch is what a complete game that is not just a gamba spreadsheet simulator should look like.

In this game, druid maelstrom having 17 dps when you first get it is actually pretty good
I returned to last Epoch a few weeks ago, first thing I did was set up a loot filter before playing and set it to only display loot with stats practical for my build or had crafting potential
It pretty much did away with the inventory juggling hassle
Loot filter is really great and so simple to use I wished he talked a little bit more about it but regardless great video
I love last epoch, the endgame is simple and yet fun, the crafting is not complicated, and it is really good. The loot filter, its freaking amazing, I will keep playing last epoch till Diablo 4 releases.
The idols are basically charms from D2. They just gave them their own slots.
As others are saying,this game hits a great sweet spot in terms of complexity between the variety and complexity of PoE, and the accessibility and control over your build of Diablo3
Just grabbed it based on this. I'm not very experienced at this kind of game (I've never even played a Diablo properly, but will be grabbing 4 - this is more down to me only switching to PC from 35ish years of consoles 3 years ago ) - I'm glad I did. Very enjoyable indeed!

Magic in stories normally chooses a path, easy to understand how the magic works and scales and it is highly descriptive. Or hard to understand with very little attempt to try and explain. Both work just very different. Dumbledore vs Gandalf respectively.
Last Epoch is a great game. It's an indie studio, started as after-hours project, turned into a small studio. The systems in LE are generally considered an in-between of Diablo and PoE. Crafting isn't crazy complicated, but still has a strong measure of depth. Animations and some models need work, but can't be upset about that Game is 0.9. Gameplay starts off pretty slow and steady, but it gets quicker. Not PoE zoomer mapping, but very fun.
Would love to see you play this game. It's easily worth the price. Game has grown so much since 2018. Or was it 2019? I don't remember when the early access came out, lol

As a long time POE player, Last Epoch is amazing. They have so many QOL features that POE really needs to adopt. The in game loot filter is fantastic. Sure it’s not as complex and there are less build options. But that’s a good thing for a lot of people.

@@fizzybeard7291 no, I would def recommend POE over LE. POE has a much much more fleshed out end game and can let you play builds all season long. LE still has a ways to go to have an end game. It’s still a great game, but I’d play POE for a while, then do some LE. It’ll also let you appreciate the QOL that it has over POE.

i love this game, so many times every day i say it out loud, while playing. i wonder how zack would react to the guilds system that affect trade.
I honestly find most of my enjoyment from the levelling process. And last epoch had the perfect balance of poe’s complexity, while holding diablo’s casual appeal. Worth every penny. Haven’t even hit end game.
@@Slashresto You do care about rares, but only those that drop with good base rolls
@@Slashresto Yeah but removing affixes adds instability. Atleast it did last I played (bout 2 years ago). So you want a rare with atleast 2 good affixes for you, with good rolls. Preferably 3, then you remove the 4th one and add in a fourth good affix. That was the end-game crafting in a nutshell.
Wait till asmongold discovers the void knight whirl wind build that makes echos or clones of your character spinning to win.
I don't usually like time traveling in games but it goes well with an ARPG. You need to go through same maps, kill same bosses etc. so having them on different timelines etc makes "sense"

I love the glacier skill. Probably my favorite ability of any ARPG. I has such a satisfying feel.
I did my first char couple days ago, went bladedancer with chakram. Feeeels soooo fkn good. There are def some pros and cons in LE, game feels a little bit cringe sometimes with the monster, hard to explain but you realize it when you geting some hours in it. Overall great game
Also went necromancer when I returned, it's a heck of a lot of fun but also kind of auto-pilot in terms of how strong your minions get very quickly. Like my character is level 32 and has a +260% minion health bonus and +300% minion damage. They just melt the entire map with how they're persistent minions and not timed summons lol
Is necromancer still good and fun and have a lot of items to choose?
@@socjocinus yes, got my necro fire minions into monolith (end game) and they barely die.
If you like a blue or common item you can add minion related craft mods to it aswell.
my current biggest problem is the multiplayer as when you run anything more then 2 people in a party servers take a hit. While the games servers will literally have stroke if your friends are using certain summons or is playing dk and spams too many orbs. Other then that when i played the movement abilities on rogue were not working correctly so hopefully its fixed now.
1k hour in a beta , and im so happy to play this , this game is easily the best game i ever played , i can see myself playing this over 15k hour , really enjoying it
If you enjoy it that much, you should play PoE
@Ceilaz I mean its definitely not the same as PoE, but its still an ARPG. Last epoch currently isnt worth playing for 15k hours, it simply doesnt have enough content and build variety compared to PoE.

I wanted to get back into PoE and while waiting for the new league. I watched Zizaran's most recent videos about Last Epoch. I'm honestly torn on what I want to play now. I'm actually really enjoying the crafting and systems in Last Epoch. I think Zizaran's video does an excellent job at highlighting the good in Last Epoch. I'm playing Warpath void knight, it's basically like a cyclone build in PoE, it's super fun to play.
LE is going to amazing once the first season hits/all masteries come out and they all get updated vfx

I had a blast on a bladedancer w/ whirling blades/surikens bleed stacks and just wiped the floor with those bosses dealing like 5-6k dps

Hit level 100 running cold dot werebear in this game I truly do love it but the lack of end game content is just a bummer but will definitely be awesome when they add more to it

Been playing this game for about 4 weeks now and love it, a few weeks ago before the D4 beta I got all my mates to try it and they definitely prefer what they are seeing from the LE 0.9 beta than what we saw in D4. But D4 still has some time to make some changes, and end game could be good.
Criticisms of LE 0.9 is that the lag is real if you play multiplayer, and the end game is not the best - repetitive and the maps themselves are too long and not designed great but I will expect this to be resolved over time. And we haven’t even got seasons yet.
The builds and leveling experience is amazing, the crafting system is the best I’ve seen. It’s a great mid complex point between D3 and POE, and it feels like you don’t need a guide to figure it out or come
up with unique builds (though you certainly can).

I really hoped for you to pick up this game as the first thing that went into my mind was "Asmond probably would love this shit". Looking forward to it and hope you enjoy it!
my poe build is going to start off with wintertide and then switch to righteous fire. because thats been the most fun build ive played.
If you're on the fence, play this game. I've leveled up 3 different builds in this game. The build diversity is insane. Miles ahead of diablo and it allows for creativity and messing around / respecing to find synergies. Not having to follow a build from day 1 like PoE
I bought this game 3 days ago and am addicted to it. I have a character level 70+ already. Doing my monoliths and chasing exalted items. I am now working on getting despair scrolls so I can seal affiex to make my gear better. I also actually created the build I'm playing right now myself and its holding up. Super surprised because when I tried making a build in path of exile was complete ass, and in poe you basically just re-roll a new character due to the re-specing limitation of regret orbs. Last epoch is so much easier in terms of repecing to fine tune your passives, and skill passives. I 100% recommend last epoch and its worth the $45.
The loot filter and crafting are excellent in Last Epoch. Personally, I think the skill system is also very good. It has enough complexity and depth without being overbearing. Overall it's really solid.
Honestly the only weakness IMO seems like the quantity of miniboss and boss content. And the gap between this and AAA quality on stuff, etc.
I am at 100 hours and playing my 3th character, beside missing the last 3 chapters and some characters the game is pretty complete and it is a blast. One of the better ARPG I ever played.
"3th" lol. The game is not pretty complete mate haha. Took them 7 years to implement multiplayer which was promised on both of their kickstarters.

@Ceilaz listen kid, the game is going to fail; it already has failed. This flash in the pan moment has *ALREADY* passed, and in a month or two the game will return back to its triple digit player base. congrats, you play single player in a dead game. Great. Terrific even; im glad youre having fun. The game is trash and has taken FAR too long and stolen too much time and money at this point.
The plebeian cool downs vs the patrician mana management
I started to play on the start of March as Rogue/Bladedancer Dual Wield (sword/dagger). I must say it's goodamn OP on 64lvl. 38% doge chance and also 56% Glancing Blow, 5kdps on main skill just in the city without any buffs. Single taget sucks a little bit but deffences make up for it so you can run around arena and deal damage when safe.
I love it! I think i will pass POE Crucible next week :)

Seeing him play made my inner gaming backseater scream in frustration and I have only like 100h in LE.
As someone who plays a lot of ARPGs, LE is missing something. Most of the game, respecing your skills feels so bad that you never want to do it. The talents are okay, but don't feel like you're really getting much of anything on level up because of how segmented the talent trees are (skill level ups are what feel impactful). Something about the combat just doesn't feel right/satisfying in most cases. The gear, while easy to craft on, is super boring until end game. Poe has the same problem, but they get around it by the gear having sockets and basically being part of your skills.
i remember being hyped for this game years ago. i've since forgot about it
14:00 mob leashing u are exactly correct asmon i had a build where id run to the end turn on absorb damage and reflect aoe all the damage taken everything around me and 1 shot the whole map lol
BTW that build worked to max level on hardcore and i played super early in the game
I started last epoch last weekend after playing Diablo 4 like mad since launch. Going back to Diablo 4 is going to be really hard.
I worked graveyard at a 24hr McDonalds and we always stop serving lunch and switch to breakfast at 3:30am
I can't get enough of LE right now. Sure it's a D4 waiting room but it's 3 months of solid content to enjoy!
really fun game , have about 25 hours on a Rogue with Marksman mastery and its a lot of fun .. end game is kinda like rifts but its early access beta and it will be improved in the future

i just restarted necro after being away for a year (wife, cancer, suck to be me) and I still love it, nothing CLOSE for new players.
Remember this is a BETA. Think of how amazing PoE became with time and the beta for that game falls short in damn near ever aspect comparatively. I'm so happy we have such passionate, dedicated and talented devs forging ahead with the development of this game
LE has one of the best arpg levelling progressions out there. You constantly feel getting stronger and progressing without becoming trivial

tbh, during the d4 beta playing the barbarian i really did not have that "one more level, one more level" because it felt always so bad to level up and you'd feel weaker, so the game made me not look forward to the next level up which is really a bad thing for an ARPG and i am by no means an unexperienced ARPG player since i started playing them in the 90s with D1.
in fact, using any ability on the barb in the d4 beta felt weak and unrewarding during the regular leveling process (so i exclude a full legendary build)
i always had that feeling that the monsters are stronger than me and thats just not a good thing if the game gives you that feeling, especially early on.
I enjoy this game very much. Started when it first came out took a break for some PoE, d2r, and DI and came back to it after D4 beta....at first its a bit overwhelming but I highly suggest trying it out for yourself especially if you liked PoE and diablo

Literally downloaded the game 12 hrs ago coz of lazypeons video and I only just stopped playing it now coz i have work in 5 hours and I need to sleep lol. The game is really addictive and this is coming from someone who never really liked arpgs
Good video as a "First Play Through" but he also stopped it right before the really good part of the game starts, the end-game and diving into crafting to continue your power growth. Its simplified yet very enjoyable experience.
Last Epoch is a great game with unique classes, excellent gameplay. None of the extra BS with POE or dumb down BS from Diablo, right in the middle.
As someone who's played THOUSANDS of hours of PoE, Last Epoch is now my favorite ARPG.. Once it's endgame is fully fleshed out, it definitely has the potential to be the best; it does SO many things right (that other ARPGs, like PoE or D4, don't.)
Nono, all of the big numbers in his gear said "increased" which means its a multiplicative, not a flat increase. PoE has a similar wording difference too.

so long as the game runs stable on your system (its still in beta and many ppl have crashes) its very enjoyable. Breath of fresh air after all the PoE grinding
I put a ton of hours into this game when it was single player only. Super fun arpg.
Skills get alot smoother as you level up but most of them are pretty functional out the box lel
Also - What this ARPG does better than most (or at least as well as the best) is lay out all of your stats and bonuses and defensives in a way that makes it easier to craft what you need. Nothing irks me more than horrible tooltips / lack of info.
I disagree about the wasd because it let's you keep you hand on the skills to execute. I didn't play vrising because of that, but having the possibility why not as long as you keep the mouse to move ;)
The last point about gear RNG is actually false; it's the ARPG with the most deterministic way of acquiring specific gear.
Rare/Exalted can be tweaked to exactly what you want thanks to the deterministic crafting, and you have semi-target-farming of uniques/set as opposed to the fully randomness in most other ARPG.
Other than that, this was a nice review, the game is absolutely amazing and I'm sure you will love it.
P.S.: Pohx have a very nice flame reave build, I think you would like it.

the death log was cool
30% in this game are rokie numbers i have in void kinght item on 43 with 260 % void damage. asmon if plan. you can buff minions that can kill hardest bosses in the game mean 400+ coruption with right build. crafting can make level 4 item to 99 item if have mats and forging potencial.

The skill specializations plus the passive tree in this game is literally bizarro D4. This game makes you feel like you’re actually making your own build and have a say in your characters powers and progression, in d4 none of that matters and you base the next 10 levels on the affix of whatever legendary you just picked up. FUN HUH
Play Primalist Druid, I've played all classes and this and Rogue are the most fun. The animations are a little meh at times, but it gets better the more you go
The game really pushes crafting/skill tree in way that makes you want to try different things
The biggest difference (besides aesthetic and feel) between something like D4 and Last Epoch, is that in Diablo, you skew your build based on what gear you get. Want to make a whirlwind barbarian, but end up with a bunch of seismic slam gear? Cool, you're a seismic slam barbarian now until you get what you want. Last Epoch is the opposite. You make your build how you want, and then filter your loot and drops to only show you things that will help you make that build. Then you augment the gear to make it fit what you think is FUN, not what the gear tells you you should play (to some extent). That's way more fun and engaging to me.
And unlike D4 where you get maybe 20 skills, with slight variations on them, Last Epoch you get 20+ skills depending on your mastery/s paths, and then each of those skills has its own very in-depth talent tree to make most skills fit the power fantasy you are trying to build.
i rly enjoyed LE i didn´t even played the D4 Beta because i was so invested in it

I’m surprised no one has asked him to play grim dawn, I think it’s a very unique Arpg, a lot of fun. Not as grand of an endgame but the character building is awesome
I love that he said the build he is gonna play in poe will take 20 minutes to explain that’s like the minimum time taken to explain that game and I have played it for 4 years. I now manage my life with spreadsheets
