Next time try putting a little celery salt on the pompano. An ol timer i met surf fishing in new smyrna told me that and I thought he was crazy until I tried myself. He said put whatever spice you like then just sprinkle a little celery salt on top and it takes it to another level

People use squid there isn't much octopus in florida

Because we have no idea where to find octopus. I’ve never seen one in the wild. I’ve seen it on a few menus at restaurants, but that’s it.

Just tried a different brand and caught a pomp on it.
I have never had anything bit a hook with fish gum OR fish bites on it.
Even switched from top to bottom and every fish so far has rejected it.
