Here’s a tip: if you want to create something like this, you can also use white colored pencils or crayons, because he wax won’t absorb the watercolor! So if you don’t have masking liquid, try this instead
Hi, watercolorist here! Yes, you're absolutely correct. Anyone who'd like to do this just needs to know that you *will* be able to see the shine from the wax of the pencil, and it may not block the paints completely if it's not a solid layer, so that's something to consider when deciding what you want your final look to be. (Not criticizing at all, just explaining further if some folks reading aren't aware) 💕
The fae king look really captures the feeling of alluring and dangerous, I just love it!! I also feel like the queen looks like a dragon in human form, beautiful but intimidating as hell. I've got to say your ability to make yourself look hyper masculine or feminine is amazing!! You look like two completely different people.
So I saw post of yours recently. Asking who simps for the Owl. My answer to that. Why simp about an owl, when there's a Phoenix underneath. Love the art and creativity 👌
We followed each other on Tiktok back when you were starting out. I was about music,💚 and art. My tag was GREEN NATION. glad to see you kept on same art. 👏👏
Pro tip from my makeup artist friend: button up shirts. I had to buy one because I hate them, but being able to change without pulling it over your head is key.
I love this so much! My LARP sense are tingling with all the possibilities to creep out other players at multi day events. I have a bone shaman that worked well... but the fae sing to me! Also I had some of those books as a kid! My mum use to tell me that my long hair had knots in the morning because the fairies had a party in it while I was asleep. ❤❤ Thank you for the dopamine!
I actually like the faded look. It looks more natural. The colors are beautiful. Over all: flipping fantastic!! ✌️🫶😃 Great job 👏👍👍 The Queen is a Sea Fairy 🥰
Your whole attitude to the masking fluid and peeling it off is so relatable. ❤ Also, _of course_ it's going to be Baldur's Gate. 😹❤ ETA: Your joy at nodding slightly and seeing all the pieces move was beautiful. ETA 2: These came together beautifully. Absolutely stunning work. ❤
@MissTwisteddd It really shows! I think it's wonderful. ❤️ Also, THIS is how I find out you're an Aussie? I zipped over to check when you mentioned Brisbane. 😹 I really need to check creator's bios more often. 😅
Love these looks! You are fabulously creative.🤩🪄💖 Watching this, I was thinking of several art supplies that you would probably love. One to go with the watercolors, is regular metallic and metallic color shift watercolors. They are incredible! The other one is metallic and color shift nail powders. I found they work on UV resin as well, and add a lot of pop. They have basically the same thing made specifically for resin too. You likely have tried these, but if not, they are so worth it. Thanks for sharing all that you do!😊💖
Stuff like this is my favourite part of youtube. Creative people being creative. Funnily enough my avatar is the result of the great work of make up artists at an acting job i did a few halloweens ago.
That's awesome! I know the ol' algorithms don't always favour creativity but I love it so much so it's always nice to find others still enjoy my work 😊
If you ever go to Europe, I highly recommend visiting the Efteling in the Netherlands. I feel like you'd adore Dreamflight which alot of the fairy illustrations you showed reminded me of.
This is so cool! I'm always ecstatic to see long form content from you! Don't ever feel bad for getting nostalgic/sharing your nostalgia, and im so happy that you found your original book, it really is stunning.
"Queen of Air and Darkness" is one of my favorite folk songs. And there's a ancient Scots gaelic song about a woman whose sister goes off with the Fae. Wouldn't mind visiting Tír na nÓg sometime. Although the difference in how time passes there vs. here can be a problem. And of course, NEVER bargain with the Fae. Even Fae from the Seelie court (the good fairies) will give you EXACTLY what you bargained for- which may have no relation to what you thought you were getting. Keeps their minds sharp and keeps them from getting bored- an occupational hazard of being immortal. And the Unseelie court? Fuhgeddaboudit. Edit: I can't decide which I like better. Both are incredible. And seeing you happy makes your fans happy.
As someone who is always in the search of the perfect opaque white face paint I have some of my favourites. My first one is really obscure is oshiroi- the same white face paint used by Geiko in Kyoto. It does not mix well with most western makeup however. I've also been pleased with the Sunset Makeup goth white foundation. I see you already use some Sunset makeup products so I hope you give this a chance.
All I can think about with these is that the fae king fell in love with the mermaid queen and granted her the ability to walk on land in exchange for his hand in marriage
Mate Shirley Barber was my childhood too, my favs being the Seventh Unicorn, The Enchanted Woods, Rainbow Magic The Mermaid Princess and A Visit to Fairyland. They both seriously came out so well, ethereal and nostalgic
This was a fantastic watch! Kudos to your editors, too. The @runmien image makes me think of a modern take on Brian Froud's work, which is probably where my mind goes when I think of fairies and the fae. Also, a really good take on the "dark side" of fae is the book "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell" which is definitely a recommended read for anyone who loves the concept of fae and fae lore. As always, thanks for sharing!

Not only can you get great effects by drawing/shading and then painting water on, but wetting the pencil tip and drawing gives really intense pigment. I love your channel. OH nostalgia! i think i had the same fairy books as a kid, i don't know for sure cause i don't have them anymore and i remember there being puzzles in the books as well as the story and water colored painting that look very similar too yours
@@MissTwisteddd I also had this book as a kid and I think I still have the 100 piece puzzle it came with. I tried parting with it but the nostalgia was too great and the illustrations were too amazing to let it go just because it was a "kids book". Mine is hard cover with dust jacket and it certainly did wonders for the imagination. Was lovely to see you channelling your nostalgia into a fun and magical project :)
I love your Short vids, but it's so cool to see you explain each detail of your process. And I dont think anyone else will say this, but kudos to your sponsorship. Your talents will be more and more recognized. And the sky's the limit. 😊
Ah gosh both of these looks turned out so amazing! Never thought about how well just spirit gumming paper or other bits to my face would look, absolutely using this for inspiration for renfaire this year 🤩
Love both designs and they have inspired me to look at making 3D butterflies from some lining paper. Keep being a great source of knowledge and creativity
Beautifully done. Original Faeryz lore, in some cases, had them as mischief makers, or more evil type. So maybe have 1 with both good/evil personalities. If I ever did a Faeryz, it would be a Gothic Halloween type. The King gives lunar moth vibes, and the Queen does give off Mermaid vibes. The royal couple looks great!!
In the old stories, the Seelie court are the "good" Fae. They'll prank you, trick you in a bargain, but it's all in fun (for them.) The Unseelie court are- well, think Maleficent from "Sleeping Beauty." Just plain evil. They'll use their powers to back you into a corner so you HAVE to bargain with them. That does NOT end well.
I had soooo many Nene Thomas figures growing up. Also loved Brian Froud, Amy Brown, and Jessica Galbreth. And I still have a super colorful pastel fairy poster from 1998 that i feel like you would love. ❤
There's a wonderful book called "A study in drowning", wich portraits a faking and these makeup totally nailed the idea of him, kinda creepy, but amazing. I love it❤❤❤

@@MissTwisteddd I LOVE Metal: Hellsinger! You should play it if you haven't, or at least give the soundtrack a listen. Really tiny spoiler below... The ending cutscene after you beat the game leaves SO MUCH room for a sequel and I am insanely hyped to see if they'll announce one.
I realize you probably have tried just about every adhesive in existence, BUT... back in early 2020 I was working on stopgap measures to get the most out of the limited ASTM surgical masks we used in my dental clinic (because they were in short supply) . My goal was to seal the paper mask to my face, to eliminate air gaps. I tried all the Mehron products, but they didn't hold up over time (4+ hours). Someone from Mehron aimed me at a competitor's product called Pros-Aide (ADM Tronics). It did a much better job at the long-term hold and the manufacturer claims to have a US Veterans Admin approval for use attaching facial restorative prosthetics. Anyway, I ended up going a total different direction due to a rare reaction I had to a trace organic solvent in the Pros-Aide... my bad luck, as it's not the only thing I have reactions to. My older sister (PhD Toxicology and Reg Nurse) verified the reaction. ("Brother, you're weird") BUT, it's worth a shot, maybe, if you are looking for a more durable adhesive. (I am not connected to the product or manufacturer in any way) FYI an ASTM Level III mask, adhered all the way around its periphery, yields a filtration rate just a bit under that of a N-95 mask, as the ASTM III material filters to about 0.4 microns. The former engineer in me (prior profession, before getting my DMD) allows me to do some in depth materials analysis to verify it... just amazing that the high filtration we were all looking for was there all along... or, ALMOST there. I just never found an adhesive that didn't turn me into a blotchy Creature from the Black Lagoon. Love your make up/cos-art. You are a treasure.
Ah Pros-Aide is actually amazing and well loved in the SFX make up world- I'm familiar with it too! Luckily I don't react to it as you do (sorry to hear that by the way! Allergies are such a pain) so it's definitely usable- I've found it useful if I'm cosplaying at a convention or a LARP event since it lasts a while!
From one artist to another . Great work and imagination. Love it love it. I am a creek Indian from GA . US , I hope to see more of your talented work. Thanks Rainbow Maker
YESSSS, these turned out so beautiful!!!! I wasn't allowed to have anything with fairies in it when I was a kid, but I would always sneak to read the Gail Carson Levine books at school. The cover art was always that beautiful watercolor style. I'm so tempted to do this too now!
I'm so happy that TH-cam recommended your video! I absolutely love your fae creations and how they came out. I could feel the magic and how easily i would be swepted by inti the Feywild 🤣🤣🤣. Now I'll be going down the rabbit hole of your awesome videos. Thank you for sharing your passions with others ❤❤❤
I just recently found your channel and I must say you are extremely talented! I have never been very interested in cosplay however your work has completely changed my mind. I look forward to seeing more of your content. The Emperor Protects.
I actually purchased a small watercolour set a while ago, but I never got around to doing anything with it. I think you have just motivated me to get it out and have a play with it.
If I may make a suggestion? When you use the UV resin, you can try to mix a blue/silver mica powder into it to give more of the water look on the droplets
I have a question about the Fairy King one. Is there a reason to not Laminate the Paper Wings in some way? Other than the added Weight that Might make it harder to make them stick to the face with Spirit Glue? It kinda feels to me like having a plastic layer around them would help protect them from damage. I think there's different Textures for lamination that might avoid ruining the colours or adding an unwanted reflective sheen right?... (Bear In mind that I know Exactly NOTHING about Cosplay and Makeup and such, I just came here because I saw "Ooo Faeries!" and I was curious)
You apologized for being "self indulgent" but honestly, I'd encourage you to do more self indulgent stuff! Things you're passionate about are always going to be more fun for you and therefore turn out fantastic~
This is honestly true 😂 it's a balance of things I like vs things I think others will like too! I try not to do things I have no interest in, but luckily I find enjoyment in most projects anyway!
Your take on the Fae King & Fae Queen feel less like married partners, and more like the King rules over the Summer Court and the Queen rules over the Winter Court. Both dangerous, but one has a warmer energy that you might mistake for being kind or friendly while the other comes off as more cold and distant. Very Seelie/Unseelie vibes. I love it!!
Yes, poison is for plants, venom is for animals. I love this project!! I love watercolors and picked it up this year too, very satisfying. If you want to have more vibrant colors but have a bit of watercolor effect you can also try gouache paints.
....I hate that I hadn't looked at your full length stuff before now...but that also means I have a backlog of really cool videos to watch at work tonight.
@MissTwisteddd yes!! I think my mum may still have them, I've tried finding new books from the author buy I don't know their name. If you know their name could you please let me know? I'm actually from New Zealand, so we're country neighbors.

Some tips for watercolours, in case you haven't come across these things in the past 8 months...
1. Avoid paper wrinkling by blocking it before you paint. Just tape it onto a solid surface. Bonus points if you moisten the paper before taping, because that will relax all the fibres and the paper will already be stretched. Wait for it to dry before working it.
2. Lift masking fluid by rolling it. The latex sticks to itself. Be careful with large amounts of mask as it will tear at the paper.

FYI an ASTM Level III mask, adhered all the way around its periphery, yields a filtration rate just a bit under that of a N-95 mask, as the ASTM III material filters to about 0.4 microns.
I love your creations! Keep having fun! 🎉
The blue toned one turned out fantastic! 🎉 You could probably get away with fangs for her if you wanted a less friendly vibe.
I did love the Winter Ice Fey the best. The Summer Moth Fey was very close second. All-in-all, most impressive.
YESSSS, these turned out so beautiful!!!! I wasn't allowed to have anything with fairies in it when I was a kid, but I would always sneak to read the Gail Carson Levine books at school. The cover art was always that beautiful watercolor style. I'm so tempted to do this too now!
Aaw well I'm glad you still found ways to enjoy fantasy in the end!
Thank you for checking them out! I appreciate it so much.
I just recently found your channel and I must say you are extremely talented! I have never been very interested in cosplay however your work has completely changed my mind. I look forward to seeing more of your content.
The Emperor Protects.
Thank you! There's loads of different types of cosplay so I'm glad you found some you enjoy 😊
I think the execution was quite well done. In particular, the fae king has a very Green Man/Obad-Hai vibe.
You make me miss arts and crafts ❤❤❤
I actually purchased a small watercolour set a while ago, but I never got around to doing anything with it. I think you have just motivated me to get it out and have a play with it.
I love watching you art. And the finished product is amazing. ❤
I am a writer and I'm currently working on a fae book so these where really inspiring for me since I want to make the fae look scary but beautiful!!
Been slowly binging your vids. Absolutely love both of these. :}
If I may make a suggestion? When you use the UV resin, you can try to mix a blue/silver mica powder into it to give more of the water look on the droplets
Ooh that's a good idea!
@@MissTwisteddd never thought I'd get an answer back 😁😁😁😁
Loved the long form video. Both looks were fantastic!
I love these so much.
the fairy queen is my absolute fave
Just found your channel and am here for all the magic you're bringing to the world!
Well thank you and I appreciate that!
I hadn't thought of that! If I could find one that had a matte finish maybe I'll try that next time!
Your creativity is simply inspiring and awesome.
Thank you so much 😀
Looking awesome man love it 🇬🇧
You are so gorgeous Charlotte 💖🤩💖❤️❤️❤️❤️ love your creativity and love you.
Such beautiful creations!!
Love this! I feel that some small fangs on the green would be the cherry on top
Ooh you're so right, some little fangs would go so well!
I think I’ll do this for Halloween ty for such a descriptive tutorial that looks amazing
I love it!!
Yessss actually that is a really great description. I can picture it now!
These look sooooo stunning!
Yes, poison is for plants, venom is for animals. I love this project!! I love watercolors and picked it up this year too, very satisfying. If you want to have more vibrant colors but have a bit of watercolor effect you can also try gouache paints.
My flavor of fairy obsession was Tinkerbell, mostly the music.
....I hate that I hadn't looked at your full length stuff before now...but that also means I have a backlog of really cool videos to watch at work tonight.
I appreciate you checking it out! I really want to make more long-form videos so I'm making more and more of them!
Awesome. Well worth it.
Let's go!! Coming over from the short to see how these were made!
Appreciate you checking this out!
Those two are equal parts gorgeous and unsettling
aha exactly the vibe I was going for!
Waxing nostalgic and getting carried away is really the way we should all be.
Fantastical and fabulous as alway 💕💖
OH MY GOD! That fairy book! My mum used to read those to me!
Such a blast from the past hey!
@MissTwisteddd yes!! I think my mum may still have them, I've tried finding new books from the author buy I don't know their name. If you know their name could you please let me know?
I'm actually from New Zealand, so we're country neighbors.
