    There are so many people who dont see what this movie is about. It´s all about the Guitar! And not about who is the best Player in the world. They took these three guys, because their style is so different, so that everybody can see what you can get out of this instrument. And besides that they all created great music and for me it does not matter who is more "legend" : ) in my opinion, this word lost it´s meaning completly and is far away from any traditional definition. Enjoy the music. Peace!

    I agree that the Edge initially seemed like a strange choice but he DID define a sound and U2 are an enormously successful group, influencing a lot of people. They could have asked Eddie Van Halen and numerous others but I actually thought the Edge was an interesting choice after watching the film. It's not just the proficiency on the guitar but the story behind their 'relationship' with it that is the key factor in this documentary. This may be lost on a lot of people though.

      IF you watch the documentary - Jimmy page and Jack White discuss effects, guitar chords, musical progressions, and polyrhythms and the entire time "The Edge" is completely fucking dumbfounded because all hes capable of is turning up the echo and reverb up on his amp.

    • @benjamincoggins6568
      @benjamincoggins6568 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@CybrosisEvolved What utter bullshit. Edge revolutionised the use of effects in guitar music, pioneered delay polyrhythms in popular music using stereo delays with dotted notes against whole notes (try composing this way and tell me how ‘easy’ it is) and has written some of the most beautiful progressions ever. This is just the tired argument that effects aren’t playing, whereas effects have always been central to the electric guitar and made most of what your hear from guitar possible. You are always playing effects with electric guitar, even if it’s just the breakup of your amp.

    The film is not about "Who is the best". I think that there was a great chemical between them while making the film. You can feel it when you watch it. Of course there is a lot of great guitar players out there but the film works just fine. 10 out of 10 for me

    Have you ever played on instrument? Have you ever played on electric guitar? So try to do it like Edge, I'm sure it will be a huge problem... Being a guitarist is also being a composer, musician, and the best way of playing music is to LISTEN and trying to join to the other instruments... Fast solos are hard to play but do they bring anything new?

  • @uyngane
    @uyngane 13 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Funny thing about being a guitar player (any player?) You have to keep picking it up to see what you can do...what will come out of it. Seems like there are two approaches you can take. One is to get technical and theoretical (the rules of music).
    The other way (probably the superior way) is to let yourself go and see what kind of music comes out. (of course, the "rules" will be in there somewhere). The film was only "so-so" but did show players finding their music through much perserverance.

You are obviously not a guitar player...saying he needs a change of wardrobe and he needs to get a tan....Jack White is a great guitar player...and he has one of the best tones out there. @astronoomy I've played electric guitar as well as some other instruments in a symphonic band ( I'm not very good at the guitar i must admit). However it's obvious that you don't really listen to led zeppelin or any of the bands jack white was in. They were far more than fast solo's my friend. Sure the edge introduces new things, but as the modern music industry has shown, new isn't always better. Also jimmy page composed half of led zeppelins stuff, andwhite wrote the stripes music
