Maybe burning pirate fleets with Corlys back in the day?

I think the “fun names” such as Dreamfyre, Silverwing, QuickSilver… come from Meraxes line (they also all have her silver colourations) while Vermithor takes after Vhagars warm colours and Valyrian style name. Dreamfyre laid a clutch of dragon eggs on Fair Isle which could only be Meleys and Caraxes due to the dates (unless these eggs never hatched). This was like beautifully tragic. Like one of those scenes that’s supposed to be horrifying for the people, but the music was just amazing to pair with this scenario, and it made you fully sit in aemonds perspective for a second. Again, blown away by your work!!!! Love the touch of the animation inspired by Smaug hitting that watch tower, and meeting caraxes at the end… just awesome as usual!

If they replicated this, shot for shot in episode 8, instead of just showing a 15 second aftermath of this, it would've been an actual season finale with a huge event ending it off. @@quailjailss I think they will do it justice. A huge reason why they moved the Gullet to start of season 3 instead of the end of season 2 was so they'd have that much more time to work on it. Apparently it was going to be the end of season 2, but they weren't happy with where it was going and how it was turning out, so they moved it back so they could invest more time AND a lot more money into it. Ryan said he will make sure it's one of the most epic battles ever put to screen. So I'm really looking forward to that. Vermithor is my favourite dragon design, he has the ancient feel of Vhagar but with all those badass horns and he just looks SO COOL!! I can't wait to see him in an actual dragon battle in full daylight. His bronze coloring looks so good in that one blurry shot of him at the end of episode 7. They did really well with Rook's Rest, the Vhagar vs. Meleys part was especially awesome, when they were locked in a death-spiral of fire, plummeting toward the ground.
@@Jrdn357 well it was also bc of budget constraints. I’ve heard they still plan to take KL first, which if that is true, then the timeline will be off for that sequence of events and won’t really make sense if you think about it. We saw at the end of S2 aemond is in the riverlands, so it is looking like that rhaenyra will take KL at the very beginning of S3 while vhagar is not guarding the city. Rhaenyra’s key to holding the city against vhagar was the dragons, so there’s no way she would send her dragon riders to the gullet while leaving the city vulnerable. I’m hoping that doesn’t mean we’ll only see silverwing and vermithor at the battle of the gullet (maybe moondancer too) since I really wanna see them all in action together, the different ways they fly, speeds, size comparisons in one shot, etc. Rooks rest was okay. I expected to see more of meleys attacking the greens forces before being interrupted, I thought unity 5 did a great job of showing more of that than hbo did. I expected her to land like in the book as well, and see her take flight in a fury to meet the greens dragons too. I also really thought we would see baela show up at RR but then Rhaeny’s would make her flee… idk. The cgi was good and I did like how they locked claws and tumbled through the air, but I felt like Vhagar’s sneak attack was really silly. I mean vhagar was larger than the castle she “hid” behind for the sneak attack, and rhaenys wouldn’t have been stupid enough to just casually fly over the battleground I feel like. Vhagar does have more experience, but aemond does not, and that would have shown. But I also understand that the battle obviously had to go a certain way and I’m okay with it overall. Just thought it could have been better.
@@quailjailss I think that Aemond's lack of experience did show in the battle, or at least Rhaenys' insane riding/battle skills did. Her maneuvers, like how she flew upside down under Vhagar, instigating the talon-lock in such a way that the angle was too awkward for Vhagar to hit them with her fire, was genius. She actually brought down the most powerful dragon in the world, if only for a moment. She for sure won that fight in my mind, cause Meleys stayed aloft and uninjured, while Vhagar's stomach had been ripped open, and had been forced to crash into the ground HARD.

Was showing that Meleys was super experienced in battle and how she was able to engage in battle with her without being shredded by her jaws. But the sneak attack thing just was so weird to see it happen again when it shouldn’t have really been possible.

I really don't understand why they didn't show us something like this in the show. This proves that legit 3 minutes is enough to show the blind rage and aggression of what Aemond did. I know they were trying to save budget, but they didnt need to even give us that last episode...I would have preferred this since it actually shows us what Aemond did rather then just have Alicent tell us what happened after we were given a 2 second clip of a burning city.

Another awesome video Unity. Camera tracking and atmosphere looks to have gotten better again and there were some really atmospheric shots in this one as well. Love the little alt take on Vhagar flying to Dragonstone and I got to say, while I was a bit skeptical at song choice, the moment I realised that you can interpurt the line "7 devils" as the religon of the 7, and their ties to Old Town, the High Towers and by exentsion Aemond himself it fits really darn well! Cant wait to see what you cook up next!

Agreed we should have at least seen him burning that town, instead of just a quick aftermath shot. It was too soon to show him in the riverlands in the finale though! Remember daemon is still there with his army. They gotta sneak back to KL in a game of cat and mouse so that the blacks can take the city. THEN we will see the riverlands on fire like never before

Battle of the gullet is gonna be huge, 5 dragons should be at that battle with one of the largest fleets of ships being burned… the fall of KL won’t be a huge battle but they’re still gonna need to show all the dragons again if they do it right. Aemond burning the riverlands, tumbeton part one and 2. Daerons battle with tessarion, battle above gods eye, storming of the dragon pit… something tells me we will only get about half of that… Also I’m curious what the timeline will be- if they’ll do the gullet first or the fall of KL. It wouldn’t make sense to do the gullet after, but I don’t see it any other way with how the finale left off

But yeah that’s how her story goes from now on lol. A few victories with heavy losses left and right in between.
Absolutely love it, and makes one wonder, why didn't the showrunners put this things on the show? To show the destructive power of the dragons and the real consequences of their use in war, not just the aftermath. What they did in the series is like showing the aftermath of the battle of stalingrad and saying it was really bad, instead of showing the blodiest battle yet in recorded history

HBO gave money to another show that no one wanted. But they refused to give money to the goose that lays the golden eggs. That's why there are so few dragons in season two.

Absolutely stellar! Breathtaking to see how large hagar is in perspective of Riverland kingdoms and castles. This really puts into perspective the sheer destruction demonstrated in Fire and Blood. Ink on a page can only represent so much. Excellent video! Very epic.

What. The. Fuck. Why is this so good?? This is insane!! Why couldn't HBO do this?? If they replicated this, shot for shot in episode 8, instead of just showing a 15 second aftermath of this, it would've been an actual season finale with a huge event ending it off. This actually looks SO UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!! Please do the Battle of the Gullet, next. You've gotten so much better and I want to see Vermithor in action with this level of quality. Or the Battle of the God's Eye. The direction here is simply brilliant, and those Vhagar, Vermithor, and Caraxes models are INSANE!! I really don't understand how you made this, you keep getting better and better.
Agreed we gotta see the battle of the gullet by this guy. It’s the battle I’m most looking forward to seeing on screen! Can’t wait to see all the dragons burning the fleet of ships in S3. IF hbo does it justice… 🙄
@@quailjailss I think they will do it justice. A huge reason why they moved the Gullet to start of season 3 instead of the end of season 2 was so they'd have that much more time to work on it. Apparently it was going to be the end of season 2, but they weren't happy with where it was going and how it was turning out, so they moved it back so they could invest more time AND a lot more money into it. Ryan said he will make sure it's one of the most epic battles ever put to screen. So I'm really looking forward to that.
Vermithor is my favourite dragon design, he has the ancient feel of Vhagar but with all those badass horns and he just looks SO COOL!! I can't wait to see him in an actual dragon battle in full daylight. His bronze coloring looks so good in that one blurry shot of him at the end of episode 7.
They did really well with Rook's Rest, the Vhagar vs. Meleys part was especially awesome, when they were locked in a death-spiral of fire, plummeting toward the ground.
@@Jrdn357 well it was also bc of budget constraints. I’ve heard they still plan to take KL first, which if that is true, then the timeline will be off for that sequence of events and won’t really make sense if you think about it. We saw at the end of S2 aemond is in the riverlands, so it is looking like that rhaenyra will take KL at the very beginning of S3 while vhagar is not guarding the city.
Rhaenyra’s key to holding the city against vhagar was the dragons, so there’s no way she would send her dragon riders to the gullet while leaving the city vulnerable. I’m hoping that doesn’t mean we’ll only see silverwing and vermithor at the battle of the gullet (maybe moondancer too) since I really wanna see them all in action together, the different ways they fly, speeds, size comparisons in one shot, etc.
Rooks rest was okay. I expected to see more of meleys attacking the greens forces before being interrupted, I thought unity 5 did a great job of showing more of that than hbo did. I expected her to land like in the book as well, and see her take flight in a fury to meet the greens dragons too.
I also really thought we would see baela show up at RR but then Rhaeny’s would make her flee… idk. The cgi was good and I did like how they locked claws and tumbled through the air, but I felt like Vhagar’s sneak attack was really silly. I mean vhagar was larger than the castle she “hid” behind for the sneak attack, and rhaenys wouldn’t have been stupid enough to just casually fly over the battleground I feel like. Vhagar does have more experience, but aemond does not, and that would have shown. But I also understand that the battle obviously had to go a certain way and I’m okay with it overall. Just thought it could have been better.
@@quailjailss I think that Aemond's lack of experience did show in the battle, or at least Rhaenys' insane riding/battle skills did. Her maneuvers, like how she flew upside down under Vhagar, instigating the talon-lock in such a way that the angle was too awkward for Vhagar to hit them with her fire, was genius. She actually brought down the most powerful dragon in the world, if only for a moment. She for sure won that fight in my mind, cause Meleys stayed aloft and uninjured, while Vhagar's stomach had been ripped open, and had been forced to crash into the ground HARD.
@@Jrdn357that was like the one thing I think they did an excellent job with that fight. Was showing that Meleys was super experienced in battle and how she was able to engage in battle with her without being shredded by her jaws. But the sneak attack thing just was so weird to see it happen again when it shouldn’t have really been possible.

I really don't understand why they didn't show us something like this in the show. This proves that legit 3 minutes is enough to show the blind rage and aggression of what Aemond did. I know they were trying to save budget, but they didnt need to even give us that last episode...I would have preferred this since it actually shows us what Aemond did rather then just have Alicent tell us what happened after we were given a 2 second clip of a burning city.

Another awesome video Unity. Camera tracking and atmosphere looks to have gotten better again and there were some really atmospheric shots in this one as well. Love the little alt take on Vhagar flying to Dragonstone and I got to say, while I was a bit skeptical at song choice, the moment I realised that you can interpurt the line "7 devils" as the religon of the 7, and their ties to Old Town, the High Towers and by exentsion Aemond himself it fits really darn well!

Agreed we should have at least seen him burning that town, instead of just a quick aftermath shot. It was too soon to show him in the riverlands in the finale though! Remember daemon is still there with his army. They gotta sneak back to KL in a game of cat and mouse so that the blacks can take the city. THEN we will see the riverlands on fire like never before

@@ngin98 oh I’m super worried. They have so much more cgi to worry about next season lol. Like BIG battles. Battle of the gullet is gonna be huge, 5 dragons should be at that battle with one of the largest fleets of ships being burned… the fall of KL won’t be a huge battle but they’re still gonna need to show all the dragons again if they do it right. Aemond burning the riverlands, tumbeton part one and 2. Daerons battle with tessarion, battle above gods eye, storming of the dragon pit… something tells me we will only get about half of that…
Also I’m curious what the timeline will be- if they’ll do the gullet first or the fall of KL. It wouldn’t make sense to do the gullet after, but I don’t see it any other way with how the finale left off
@@quailjailssI think timeline wise in if they follow the show the fall will be first since alicent said 3 days & the triachy said the gullet on the marrow, idk if timeline are meant to match but seems odd the have the aftermath of the gullet than rhaenyra goes to kings landing, I would love for her to take the thrown only to be hit w/ a massive loss right after victory
@@ngin98yeah that’s how the finale left it. That the fall of KL would be first. Which… doesn’t make sense bc rhaenyra was only able to take the city thanks to having her dragon riders. She would never leave the city vulnerable to send all her riders to the gullet. So I’m sure it won’t be as big as it originally was. Probably just vermithor, silverwing and vermax.
But yeah that’s how her story goes from now on lol. A few victories with heavy losses left and right in between.
Absolutely love it, and makes one wonder, why didn't the showrunners put this things on the show? To show the destructive power of the dragons and the real consequences of their use in war, not just the aftermath. What they did in the series is like showing the aftermath of the battle of stalingrad and saying it was really bad, instead of showing the blodiest battle yet in recorded history

HBO gave money to another show that no one wanted. But they refused to give money to the goose that lays the golden eggs. That's why there are so few dragons in season two.
