- 🔵 Quickly marinate meat with your FoodSaver vacuum sealer. If you forgot to marinate the meat overnight, or early in the day, use the marinate container for your FoodSaver. This will marinate the meat in about 10 minutes, by vacuuming, and releasing the vacuuming, in 3 cycles. It's noisy, but quick!

Although the instructions say "Prepare enough of your favorite marinade to fully cover food inside a marinating canister" that does not mean you should submerge the food in marinade. It just means to have enough to smear marinade over the outside of the food. If you submerge it, the vacuum will not affect the food itself. It will only suck out the air above the liquid. This is clear on the Food Saver website in their pictures and videos.
Here's a good link: www.foodsaver.com/food-storage-bags-and-containers/vacuum-food-containers/vacuum-marinator/foodsaver-quick-marinator/T02-0050-015.html
She was supposed to turn the knob to closed on the marinator before she removed the hose. When she removed the hose it completely broke the seal, as you heard from, the hissing sound.
Vacuum doesn't work well in liquid. Try to expose that meat so that the vacuum can do it's job opening up the pores of the meat and allow the marinade to get in.
I own 3 different models and never used it before. Mine is v3815 and did this for the first time and wasn't sure vacumm remained until disconnected. Now i do thanks for the video
excellent machine, thank you food saver team and Costco, cornwall, ontario Canada
bon appetite
When I'm using marinator, I usually shake the thing a bit after the sealing is fully completed to evenly coat the meat.
yes you can, I do it all the time.
Not entirely true. The spaces that were taken up by air in the meat are really small and it takes a few minutes for the liquid to work its way in even with the vacuum system. The air is pulled out nothing is pushed in. That would take pressure not a vacuum.
Don't go overboard with the liquid. You really don't want the meat to float in the marinade, just cover all sides. You can do an experiment using 4 slabs of meat - tenderize 1 using a meat tenderizer and place it in your marinade alongside a second, untouched piece. Leave overnight and save some marinade. Next day, tenderize a third slab of meat and place it with the fourth and final untouched piece in the vacuum container and add the reserved marinade. Cook everything and compare taste/texture.
As a new owner of a FoodSaver machine, I am just learning all the ways it can be used to do things like, wait for it, Marinade! Take DAH! (Sorry for the goofiness)
Like so many, I have a budget but enjoy the ocassional steak but cannot afford to buy the nicer cuts of meat without putting a crimp in the budget. So, I'm told that by marinating less expensive (read less tender) cuts like flank steak, etc., you can end up with a good, tender, steak without the cost.
I'll be trying this concept ASAP, maybe for this holiday weekend. Wish me luck.
One last comment about using FoodSaver bags, though. How does one prevent the liquid from migrating too far away from the meat and getting up to the sealed edge, thereby preventing a GOOD seal? Do I need to place a piece of paper towel to capture the liquid first? I'm stumped and would really appreciate some advice and suggestions. Thank you in advance.
Yep, I use a piece of paper towel to avoid liquid migrating up too far. Works fine.
You can also freeze bloody meats until stiff befor sealing.
You can use mason jars, but the food will still have to be refrigerated.
Yes you can. Chefs do it in bags too, simply because it's easier to storage. So yes, at least try it, you will see it for yourself.
Can you use a bag to marinate meat
Thanks for the video. Would you please share your marinade recipe. I see those oranges in there, and am wondering what is in the liquid part. Thanks!
Is the container glass or plastic?
Plastic
I have a V3835, the tray full light is on, I took out the tray and emptied it, but the light’s still on, any ideas on how to get it off? That would be really helpful. Thanks
How many cycle to marinate? And how l9ng for each cycle ? Tnx
I thought she was going to push down and break the damn thing 😂
what is the marinate used for
Is the marinate container only useable with the silver FoodSaver? My old FoodSaverdoesn't have a marinate mode.
What model is this
Hi, could you tell me what type of bag can i use with this machine?
why need to 3 cycles?
its not as loud as it is in the video i think
hmmm are you from Michigan? I hear a slight MI/MN accent there lol
Pretty close! I'm in Canada
that thing is loud
Yes, it is, short cycles, though for the most part. It is such a great saver of food, and money that we just put up with the noise...worth it...
gosh these reviews from youtube are the worst. They just show u the demo on how to use it. I want to know the quality of the meat. There are instructions included in the box for sure. O gosh
When your just doing marinades,
And things you toss the bag right out a cheaper bag helps.
This is how you can make your own bags for those tasks. th-cam.com/video/uPkeyEkL1Jk/w-d-xo.html
you dont even need to wait for ten minutes, the air pressure instantly pushes the juices into the meat as soon as you turn off the vacuum
Jooosss
plasitc
Everyone I know who uses the FoodSaver brand marinade containers doesn’t like them. Poorly engineered and poorly manufactured.
