It is sickening. Thanks for covering this. We should all be enraged.

Yes it is! We should be enraged and we should let that rage fuel advocacy. Unfortunately, PAs have traditional not wanted to be involved and to just keep our head down, doing our jobs. That has merit, but I think we're seeing that policy is not helping our profession. We need to realize that while we are not MDs, we are still highly trained medical professionals and we should speak up. We should start owning who we are and advocating for our profession!

Everything you said was so true! I just left a company that treated my position as a PA like a second class position. I had an MD tell me that I could never get to where he was as an ENT specialist because he did residency, even though I had 5 years of experience in the specialty. It sounded very similar to the AMA smear campaign. If you are like me and feeling disrespected, leave! It was the best decision in my life. As I vet the next opportunity, the respect for me and my position as a PA and what I do for patients and for practice will be very important.

I'm sorry you were treated this way! Yes, PAs are not MDs and I respect the level of training they have, but we should be respected too! Especially once we gain years of experience in a specialty. I'm happy to hear you are standing up for what is right and looking for a better position. I wish you all the best!

Yes, the AMA doesn't have the greatest track record, unfortunately.

@@TheMedicineCouch American healthcare truly is a complete joke. Hence why so many doctors are leaving it and telling their children not to do it. Everything is basically run by insurance and the patient doesn’t even really have a decision much in their own healthcare. 99% of the elderly just get tossed around in the healthcare system and told to go to this appointment or that appointment without any say so or knowledge of what is really going on. Just a big money making scheme for everyone all at the expense of the patient. It’s sad..
