Played a minotaur called Skulltaker in 2nd ed. He was a large sized creature and a total bad arse fighter/mage. Even so, one of the most dangerous things he could do was walk into town. Did actually get hunter by a mage looking to take his horns as spell components and had to flee from town on more than one occasion to prevent being lynched by an angry mob chasing away the monster in their midst. Got around it a bit with illusion spells, but appearing as simply a bigger than average human doesn't stop that chair from breaking under your 500+ lbs when you sit down. Even got to eat some humans (tasty), hey it was self defense and to not eat them would just be a waste. For this guy I used the rules from the 2nd ed Complete Book of Humanoids. Which has many great tips on roleplay and forces some rather hefty penalties on you to compensate for the fact your a killing machine. Could talk about Skulltaker's background, superstitions, tribulations and the sheer joy of not being one of the civilized races for hours, but in short I'll just say - had heaps of fun playing the monster, would recommend.

I was going to say that D&D 5e isn't ready for a proper minotaur, but after some more thought, D&D over the editions, has been increasingly evasive on adventurer size, something pretty essential to a proper minotaur or halfling.

So in our group today, I started a new campaign with my friends. It's about 4 of us. I wanted to play outside the box and play as a minotaur. My DM was okay with it because it's different. Whereas other groups we've had hated the fact that I wanted to play obscene races. So we had a minotaur barbarian, a gnome rogue, half orc fighter and a dwarf cleric. My friend who is playing the cleric was kinda mad about it at first but seemed to be okay with it. The whole backstory is that I was from a pirate minotaur tribe that was just pillaging local villages and never really spoke clear common. I was 9 feet tall and about 600 pounds, all I knew was to swing an axe or club. I was slightly smart but not wise amongst my kin. One day I had stumbled upon a small gnome that was lost, my clan mate ordered me to kill him but one day I said no. My captain had told me I was to either kill him or leave the tribe. I picked the gnome up and let him sit on my shoulder as we walked away. After years of learning more common tongue through the gnome, we were essentially a duo from there and becoming mercenaries into this campaign where we're attempting to find a prince that's currently held captive for ransom. I'm personally enjoying it so far just running like a madman and headbutting everything in sight, letting the gnome think for me for the most part.

I played as a 10 foot tall minotaur I named Rocc in 5th edition. I made his as a Fighter/druid armed with a large kanabo. Brown furred, coal eyes. Very gentle with children and fiercely loyal and protective of those he calls friends and family, so much so I'd have him rush head first into a fight reguardless of the danger because someone he knew was in danger. His backstory was he found as a caff by a small group of traveling monks who decided to bring Rocc back to their temple home where he was raised up. He has a strong respect for nature as he's a druid and since his race are practically bred for battle, the monks thought it best to higher a mercenary to teach him combat to balance his chi. He lives in a fairly large village as its guardian. When he arrived, the people were a little frightened by him, tho seeing the large beaded prayer necklace that the monks wore they became more accepting towards him.

I have a minotaur character ready called Asterion, ready to use in a bronze age campaign, he's in that bronze musculata armor and has a big axe and shield, and he's a high wisdom fighter. he's well spoken and likes to mess with people by letting them think he's big and dumb before he talks and just starts rattling off poetry and epics he has memorized. in this setting minotaurs also live hella long, so he's actually quite old and he's this out of practice adventurer getting back into the swing of things, but he also used to be a bandit chief, mercenary, and other stuff in his youth, so there's some comedy in him where they'll show up to a place he's been, and the bandit gang could be his old gang, but like a century later so they don't think a minotaur actually ran the gang at some point.

Love this video! I have a Minotaur character idea in mind that I am just waiting for an opportunity to play. I see his backstory involving being from a foreign continent where Minotaur live free in little communities. Being so large and fearsome looking however made them ideal slaves and so my character was taken across the sea to the potential setting of the game and sold off to a Master that set him to fight in the Arena as a Gladiator. Channeling the rage of being taken from his home and forced into this situation against his will, he becomes a self taught Berserker, who eventually wins the favor of the crowd and earns his freedom, to eventually become an Adventurer, seeking some place to belong along.

Welp, I just played my first session as a chaotic evil character. Rakkus, the minotaur barbarian. He didn't like waiting in caves. He took his bloodlust to the open sky and reeked havoc.
Rather than kill him, a group of mages created a magical collar and set of cuffs to enslave him. It worked! He worked as a slave in the mages' tower for months, until he was handed over as payment to a monster hunter.
In game I will actively try to slip away or move fast enough to get away with things I want to do (mostly eat corpses), while the other player simply snaps his fingers and painfully paralyzes me. The minotaur has mostly given up at this point, knowing he rarely gets away with things, but will try on occassion anyway.
His owner will force him to meditate with him and share tea with me, and the pair have become a wonderful comedic relief.

My Minotaur "Seeng" is a Paladin. This was for our tyranny of dragons campaign. He was rescued by a demi-god as a child when his tribe was destroyed by a wandering dragon. Left by the steps of an cathedral like orphanage located within a large forest, he was taken in by the Mother and Father which helped raise him. Growing up there he always felt distant from the other children but the sisters would reassure him thats hes has a good heart. Wanting to do more, he started helping around the orphanage thanks to his large stature and good strength. During those times, he started learning swordsmanship and melee combat from the Father who use to be a soldier while also learning more about faith from the Mother who was a cleric. As he grew older, being classed as a paladin in training (untill lvl 3), he would continue his training and protecting the orphanage. When the Father died due to old age, he decided to set of to be on adventurer to start earning money so he may send it back to the orphanage in order to insure his siblings stay safe.

First ever Dnd character I played was a minotaur blood hunter called Hard Horn. I had no idea what a blood hunter going into it but wanted to try cause it sounded cool.... what can I say I'm a bloke. I remember saying to my DM about it and he replied with a look of well this could be fun for your first character. I loved were you spoke about scaring people, I've had a few times where my minotaur has fazed through a wall/locked door with a flaming axe ready in hand to scare the crap out of people and make them do what the party wants. Also my character is 8 1/2 feet tall, albino white fur and blood red eyes. Even just starting a few months ago I love playing the game. Its awesome.

I know I’m also super late to this, but I’ve been looking for videos like this recently because of one of my home brew races the Uhyre. Basically I loved the design and lore for Asterios (aka the Minotaur) from FGO, but couldn’t find a suitable build similar to him that wasn’t meant as a boss monster, so I made one for 3.5. Currently I’m playing my 10’11” Minotaur base wild mage Robert, and it has been nothing but shenanigans and/or trauma. I love RPing with him, but as a general agreement with my dm, just so they don’t have to rework the whole world to try to fit him, we had to implement a magic item that would keep him and other Uhyres medium size while worn. (This rule only came about after 2-3 sessions though). So far in the campaign he’s tripped down stairs, crushing all of his allies, got stuck in a small hallway for a few rounds, ripped out a doorway just to enter a pub, and a whole bunch of other issues 😂

I know I'm über late to this but I wanted to try out a medium minotaur wizard. He was the runt of the clan and is missing his left horn because in minotaur culture if you lose a battle with another minotaur you get your left horn broken off and he lost so much that his left horn no longer grows. Long story short, runs away and hides in a library to be alone, roaming the 'maze' of the bookshelves as an assistant.

So in Pathfinder 2e, I'm thinking a minotaur ruffian rogue w/martial artist archetype. (3rd party minotaur race, free archetype variant rule).

I played a Minotaur Monk once. He was born a bastard and deemed by the patriarch Minotaur to be unworthy due to not having a father. A travelling monk found the calf lying in a field where they dropped him off, and took him in. He has a fairly stoic, yet amiable personality. Though he still has the instincts in the back of his head to be a savage monster, which is why he adventures to overcome this feral urge. He was always treated with suspicion at the very least, if not out right prejudice or hostility.
Now, the reason why I chose a monk was because his horns get the unarmed bonus since they are a natural weapon he has proficiency with. Lots of foes were rammed by his swinging head. Good times, and much fun.

The concept being that to fight the inner turmoil he has chosen to dedicate his life creating and fixing both people and items. If he can create an item that fixes a person even better. This being in Ravnica makes the whole monster issue easier to deal with. The str/con bonuses are great for a heavier front line type cleric too. As for the size issue in 5e at least their base height is 7'9" and while still quite imposing, and awkward fit, still technically fits in most spaces a medium creature can.

Played a minotaur in Dragonlance, (krynn, so coming from Irda (ogers)) did not roll it. He came from convention. I just kept the character. It is a fully fledge culture (Klingon meets Romans), they really is no character quite like that. it was really fun and a nice change from the usual, Survived Ravenloft with him, there is nothing like staking vampires to trees. Don't have horns attacks as thy are quite civilised but have a roman take on the world, Try to find a bed that can accommodate the 8' 5 and 550 lbs would be a problem is only there was an inn that had the level of raffinement that a patrician of minotaur league as come to expect. plus the intimidate roll is always a boon when a patron suggested the stables (linking Krynn minotaure to cow is a deadly insult, From a game point of view they have +2 ins strength (both maxing at 20) and constitution and -2 in charisma and wisdom), surprised only 1, have the track skill for free, natural armour (+3 i think), never lost and immune to maze spell and you must spend at least on non weapon prof point in boatwright (and us it for sailing) and rope use, their are supposed to be the best sailor of the Krynn. From a power level perspective, we tried a lot things and nerfing did not really works so we boosted the encounters and the dungeon instead, we ended up wither getting for the parity size above when determining the difficulty of encounters/dungeons or when not possible adding 10-20% more low mobs or adding a level to the boss and under boss. Funnily enough yes, it enable you to feel awesome as a damage factory, but really it is much better used to actually enable other classes to shine, sending people prone is making you the rogue best friend no to mention being caster last line of defence. as well so much resources are needed to tie you up that medium sized warrior have a much easier time to get the enemy caster. not to mention that you can get the Kender (kind of hobbit), or elf or slightly build human creature if the DM is kind enough one level up in one sweet move.

I played a minotaur (Gunder Black mane) actually as one of my first characters, (a dwarven metal golem was my first), he was by far to this day my best rolled character, and even though he was still medium sized, i made him as tall as my dm would allow at 8'6". When i rolled the stats to this character, not single stat was lower than 15, i got one 18, one 17, two 16s, and two 15s. his intelligence was the highest in the group and at one point i intimidated the literal shit out of a gnoll. and then later rolled a nat 1 on my first drink in drinking contest....

Spare a thought for the reverse Minotaur with the body of a bull and the head of a human; fate hasn’t been kind to them.

@@Rookzer0 it’s still better off than a reverse mermaid, it it’s the reverse centaur that has it worst- a horses head on human legs (no arms...).

I really wanna play a female Minotaur Druid thats basically just a big floofy cow with a motherly, caring personality, it's far from a typical Minotaur but i LOVE the idea!

I might include elements of both once i get to designing the Character^^
