  • Simple Strap is a great way to haul items where you would normally use ratchet straps and bungee cords. It uses a combination of friction and tension to hold items down wherever you go. With no metal components to rust or damage, it also stores very well for when you need it most. You can use it on your truck, ATV, boat, or anywhere a ratchet strap can be used and more!

    This is a paid promotion video for simple strap. I spent weeks testing this product to make sure it was something that I felt comfortable showcasing to my viewers. Ever since receiving this product I have used it basically every day and loving the results of it. I would never do a video on something that didn't meet my standards for you guys.

    I have some of these and they are great. Yes, there's nothing like a ratchet strap to secure heavier loads, but do yourself a favor and try these. I find myself using these more and more rather than the ratchets. They're just handier and quicker for most of the stuff I put in my truck. Used these to secure a cooler to the back of my trailer for a 3000 mile road trip to Mexico. No issues!

    Hmmm. I can see the benefits, but I would find it hard to trust the simple 'tuck under' to hold it in place compared to a decent ratchet or, better yet, a time-proven knot... especially when securing a load on a vehicle or trailer. Intriguing though. Thanks for introducing me to this product. Best wishes from New Zealand.

      I thought the same thing when I was using them first time - and they surprised me! They tend to tighten as the time goes by and I have yet to have any of my "ties" slip.

      @@innerbarkoutdoors I've used a similar method while tying slingshot rubbers in place with a rubber band and it is amazing how a simple tuck holds it all securely despite the force that is applied when shooting the slingshot. I'd just be nervous about appearing to have an insecure load on a vehicle... especially if a traffic policeman was examining it !!

    I’ll admit that this looks great for smaller and more delicate applications, but a ratchet strap is a must for my line of work. Any material with sharp edges could potentially cut this easily. I’m also curious to see how these would hold up in extreme heat/cold. Does it dry rot? Does it lose elasticity?

    • @innerbarkoutdoors
      @innerbarkoutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The heavy duty stuff is harder to cut than the standard thickness ones. I'll admit that those trauma shears makes it look a little too easy. As far as hot/cold, it remains pliable in hot and cold. During the company's testing, they found than the red and black were failing at 200 degrees full Arizona sun if only one wrap was made, if more than one wrap was done (recommended anyways) it was fine. As for dry rot, the jury is still out on it but so far it's holding well and has been holding its elasticity.

    Definitley a nice addition to add to my truck but I dont think it can replace the length and toughness you get from ratchet straps. Seems great for finesse work though. Like you mentioned with the gutters, siding, things of that nature that can bend easily.

    • @innerbarkoutdoors
      @innerbarkoutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup, I'll still keep ratchet straps for furniture and plywood, but these are better for other stuff. I store them wrapped around my rack between hauls without worrying they'll get rusted out in all the rain I get here

    Thanks for your review. I wonder if these are safe to tie down canoes on roof racks if going 55mph? I guess I could use these with my straps for awhile to see if they loosen...

    • @innerbarkoutdoors
      @innerbarkoutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you have a good idea with having straps on there to be safe, but from my experience I have had no issue - and I've driven over 55 and also relatively fast on a pothole dirt road.

      I used these for my kayak. It worked several times, but blew off yesterday. Damaged my kayak and car. Granted I was going 78 on the interstate. The straps stayed tied to the rack without coming undone, but the kayak blew with the wind and came out of place from the rack and hit the car then dragged on the road. It’s really only by the grace of God that no one was hurt. Either way, I’m going back to ratchet straps with which I’ve never had problems.

    Will the simple strap still work if it gets greasy?

    • @innerbarkoutdoors
      @innerbarkoutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the straps are already in use, the tension keeps oils n dirt out. I don't think they'd work if they got greasy. You'd need to spray them down with carb cleaner or something.

    Definitely useful but they're not a replacement for ratchet straps

    • @innerbarkoutdoors
      @innerbarkoutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In some instances they actually are a good replacement. Like I showed in the video they replaced mine when I was dealing with soft/delicate material and on our long dirt/gravel road where ratchet straps become loose after a bit, good replacement. I still have my ratchet straps in the truck ready to go, but the ratchet straps have become my backup now owning these.

      @@innerbarkoutdoors yeah I definitely hear you, small light loads but when loading a quad or anything heavy really, you'll need ratchet straps.

    It looks good, but I'm skeptical of how long it's going to last long-term, after months of UV radiation from the sun and exposure to oxygen. Rubber parts always seem the first to break down.

    • @innerbarkoutdoors
      @innerbarkoutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was developed in Hawaii so made to withstand TONS of UV radiation, heat, ect. and they haven't had any breakdowns so far (as I know of). It's suggested that when you are not using them to store them away in a bag in your garage or house and no just leave them on your car rack holding something (even tho I have done that and they still preform... shush lol) As for me, I have had the same set for about a year now, and I use them 8 out of 10 times at this point and I have no had a single on break/fail/or anything like that on me. The only this I had to deal with is a wrapped them around some metal and didn't notice one of the edges were knife cutting sharp and it tore a bit when rubbing against it, but again that was purely user error. But I have left them on my truck rack holing wood for extended time in both hot weather and winter freezing temps - and nothing so far.

      When you are spanning a lot of distance like that you need rope or traditional straps. This stuff shines when you can make multiple wraps to secure it the best.
