    Careful with the grass it looks like white clover. It might be different there than it is here in the southern united states it's really high in sugar and usually only grows in the spring and early summer. It's great if you need to put weight on, heavy working horse or have a hard keeper horse. It might not hurt to check into some starch balance feed or feed supplements just to be on the safe side and prevent founder. Might check the best seasonal horse grasses that grows well there and plant some of them.

    Why does Chino need that separate stall at all? You could just take out the wall of that stall to make it one with Chino‘s run-in and if Chino needs to be stalled for some reason, you can just close the outside door leading into the paddock.

      Because he can't have grass, . We plan to keep the door open so the horses can come in and out.

    The horses look good in their new fields. Wait til they find out how many fields they have! If you want to get rid of the grass in Chino's paddock just pour vinegar on it. Vinegar is the non toxic way to kill any vegetation you want to get rid of, i.e. weeds, vegetation that grows up thru cracks in pavement or concrete, grass & weeds that grow too close to your house or barns to effectively control with a weedwacker.

    • @hootowlholler3760
      @hootowlholler3760 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that white vinegar you recommend? (I would think that apple cider vinegar would draw flies in droves).

    • @sherrieshatzen3801
      @sherrieshatzen3801 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hootowlholler3760 Yes, that is what I use. I imagine any vinegar would do it, but white is the least expensive, the easiest to buy in 1 gallon jugs (what I use) & I've never had it draw flies.

    I see a potential problem, the two gates that are close to one another I would turn the one around so that it opens back against the fence instead of opening into the path of the other gate.. I could potentially see one of them galloping toward the barn and accidentally catching a hip on that gate. You definitely don’t want one of the horses ending up with a fractured hip.

    • @DayByDayVlogs
      @DayByDayVlogs  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was noticing that too when Penny ran through it! Someone else mentioned the barn door metal at the bottom. I thought, oh thst shouldn't be an issue after looking at penny's door only to turn around and see Willow right up against her door rubbing her but on it! 2 things to figure out!

      @@DayByDayVlogs lol it’s always something. Horses are the only animals I know that can hurt themselves on AIR.. meaning if it’s possible that they can get hurt on it they will find a way. Through the years I have had to deal with some of the most insane incidents that caused injuries and even death. I had a mare galloping through her field that she was in every single day for three years trip and break her neck. I saw a gelding walk across a well cover again in a field he had been in most of his life, get his hoof stuck and literally break his leg and rip it off as he struggled to free himself. I mean if it’s possible they will find a way to do it. I know I don’t have to tell you that you guys have had your own tragedies.

    Question: Why can’t Chino eat grass?

      @@DayByDayVlogsHorses can still eat grass even though they are prone to laminitis. You can just restrict how much he gets, for example: limited turnout(few hours each day) or by using a grazing muzzle. This will still allow him and willow to be out with the rest of the horses, you just need to manage his intake. Obviously if he shows of laminitis (digital pulse, hot feet, rocking back onto heels) you should then take him off the grass. But he shouldn't be only limited to a small dirt pen because he is prone to laminitis, there are ways prevent the chance of him getting it that should be taken first before fully restricting him from having any grass at all.

    • @DayByDayVlogs
      @DayByDayVlogs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some horses definitely can. Chino is lame every summer on the grass. He is super sensitive and gets absesses just from any change in feed. Even increasing his regular hay. We have worked hard to get his feet better. We dont want to take any steps back. I fully trust my vet on this!

    How awesome! Everything looks great, but you're right when you said you have to live there a while to see how everything's going to work. I've redone so many things! One suggestion is be super careful with the metal at the bottom of the sliding doors, my friend just had her horse itch himself on the bottom of a metal shed and it severed his main artery in his foot and would have bled out if someone didn't happen to see him. She is several weeks into his recovery and 10s of thousands of dollars!!!
