We are all about raising and training our horses, the Missouri Foxtrotter. Our goal is to bring awareness to this breed and showcase just how wonderful they are! We also raise and train our working border collie dogs. And don’t forget the homesteads sheep, goats and mini cattle!!! We also go to occasional auctions and recently have gotten into regenerative farming/agriculture. We are all about learning how to improve our fields/soil.

It's good to see Oliver have a good appetite. No more food insecurity. He wasn't letting JR get very far away, though, outside in the field. When he is strong and healthy again, I believe that he is going to be a fiercely loyal and trusting horse for you, JR.

@@homesteadhorsemanship Alfalfa is the best! This is what I fed my Registered Quarter Horse, Larkspur... didn't shoe him until 4 yrs old; he was foot solid! Not to mention, that I changed the handlines that watered the alfalfa, barley and wheat fields that circled our home every morning and night... from 9yo to 18yo in the 70's. So love(d) my beautiful sorrel, Larkspur, my sweet, loyal and intelligent boy... P.S. Oliver probably didn't know how sweet tasting alfalfa was when being brought "home"🤗...

Amazing he was on that protein block and then the vet said his protein was in dire situation. He knew exactly what he needed
He is such a sweet trusting horse. 💗 God put you together. No one else would have paid that much for a sick abused horse.
Heart warming to see him finally in kind and caring hands getting what he needs to thrive!

This is probably the first time he has had any affection and attention shown to him, poor Oliver. Hope he gets fully fit soon.
I just can't get over his temperament, he's so calm an easy going, like a big puppy. Keeping up the prayers and healing vibes for this sweet boy, he's finally got a chance to really blossom and grow big and strong ❤️

Clydes are a calm steady breed usually anyways. All the heavy breeds were developed that way ...can you imagine a ton of thoroughbred attitude and energy pulling a plow?

I know these horses feel the safety when they have been rescued. You can tell Oliver is relaxing, because of your care. My rescueshowed in his eyes, and body mouvements. I do hope Oliver's back legs get better, it could be like you said his sheath. I am praying.
I hate to imagine how poorly he was feeling when you rescued him. I'm so glad he's got a loving home now. He seemed to automatically sense he was safe with you. I know from experience, love can heal many wounds.
I’m from England and these horses are one of our national treasures. We also had horses for many, many years. Thank-you for taking care of this beautiful boy. These horses are known for their wonderful and docile temperaments. They’re giants. I love him🥰

Those sort of people do it for the money, they have the animal for profit. Which is why they are often neglected, they don’t want to spend any money on them.
Although this video is from his first day, you can already see the connection and trust he is starting to forge with you. His disposition is so gentle, he knows that you are going to care for him. I am so thankful to have this opportunity to watch him become the best that he can be under your care and attention. 🤗💖💖💖

I’m so glad you found Oliver. He is such a sweet boy. He seems so happy and loved in your care. He’s very lucky you found him. It’s a shame what others will mistreat and discard. Sometimes I want to hate humans because of how poorly they treat animals. But then there are people like you who rescue and rehabilitate animals and I feel better about humans.

I am very happy this sweet horse is now getting a chance. Normally I would agree that the stumbling looks neurological, but I have also seen the same kind of stumbling where the knees lock during movement. He stumbles forward with no sideways movement and he has an inflamed sheeth very close to the knees too. Since he looks very weak in the hind end I would not be surprised if it isn't neurological.

The stable horse guy has a sandy enclosure so the horses all love to roll there, I've never seen them roll on grass.
Horses roll in grass all the time. It’s a bit wet here right now though. They do like the dusty spots in the summer though!

I just started watching you guys the day yall were at auction and saw Oliver... I can't wait to see him be 1200 lbs and rolling in the grass and running..Praying that he's not going to always have a bad backend.. And I'm glad the right people know about that hell hole he came from... it's ashame that people treat animals that way... it's so inhuman..Thanks for saving Mr. Oliver's life...He sure does look alot happier and loves his new home and owner...Keep up the great work..Can't wait to see what the future holds for him...The Gentle Giant

There is a horse rescue in Tennessee that I can give you the info for (to help the other 100 horses, at the property where you got Oliver). They also work with the authorities when it's necessary. Would you like their info? I think they can take in most, if not all of them. And they work with other rescues, that could take whatever horses they couldn't keep at their facility. And they travel to save horses in ALL conditions. Even if the outcome is "the last act of kindness" to end suffering.

Because Oliver is Stall bound (even with exercise area) I caution you on the protein/mineral block. Yes horses take what they need, but when enclosed it can become habitual and addictive. I would place it and remove it. Give him 10 minute stints with it and good space between. You can monitor how much he is drinking as it may make him per or poop more often. Horses don’t have as efficient a digestive system as say a cow so they lose a lot of their nutrients in their “waste”. It could slow down his weight gain and muscle gain ❤

I am one of the few and lucky ones to have been able to associate with the Budweiser Clydesdales. I love them!! To see you do this, is so heartwarming. To see the trust he already has in you, knowing you are there to help and take care of him. I know that feeling as i have a connection with animals. Many thoughts and prayers to you and OLIVER. I am following this as i want to follow his progress, hope to meet him and you in the future.

It's so sad the horrible condition his owner and the auction traveling that let Oliver slip further toward death. It's a terrible system here in the US that let's owners get off scot free with no criminal charges. Poor Oliver is taking it slow and always looking around himself. He seems not to know how to take his new home just yet, but the fact that he is eating and taking in nutrients makes me have hope. He doesn't seem to have completely given up yet, so it's a miracle that Oliver landed with you and your family. More hugggssssss for Oliver❣❣❣

Oliver is so sweet. Am watching a channel from a horserescue in spain and they slowly build up the foodintake of these horses because their bowles can't digest to much food at once. Sometimes they have dirt and sand in their system. Am just wondering if it's good for him to give him all he can eat before the vet looked at him. I deeply respect how much you care and the efforts you made to save him, am sure Olly will become a very healthy big stallion. Thank you for caring.

I’d guess about 400 to 410kg. I wish Oliver the very best as he starts his new life with you and your family. He’ll have the life every horse deserves with a cosy clean stable, good food, fresh water, herd mates, farrier and vet care, big paddock and lots and lots of love.
