Yes and Lucy looks happy the minute she looks around and sees it's all meant for her! I usually struggle to see emotions/happiness in certain animals but for me to be able to instantly see them experience the joy of having their own space/tank really makes me happy and say "awwww, they looks so cute and happy"

I started watching coz you looks like Meredith grey but ends up watching all of the videos very satisfying.
Hii, Just wanted to let you know that you shouldn't keep axolotls on substrates like sand or gravel (or any rocks for that matter).
It damages their bellies and they can accidentally swallow it. Also the sand is too fine and will get in their gills.
That's why most people don't use anything on the bottom of their tank atoll.
If you want something on te bottom of your axolotls tank you should make sure it's smooth so it can't hurt their bellies. Or put something like a tile in the tank for them to lay on so they don't have you be on the substrate 24/7 😊

sand is fine they like having something to grib on makes them feel safe fine sand can pass through them just fine and my axlotls never get sand stuck in there gills if the rocks are bigger then their head its fine to use plus they like to rest on the rocks if they need
I don't think a tank without any substrate is appropriate for axolotls
@@yolk5001 yeah they end up freaking out cuz they cant grip onto the ground which makes em swim more ppl say its good when they swim but tbh there lazy they rather sit still and wait for food

I Wish i had the money to do this type of tank sadly water changes are pretty long and i allready have fish and cats so i don't know i wanted this thing for a long time did research but then it got to me it's not easy to keep them so keep up the good work with tanks and i love your tanks mostly the ones that lucy used to live in. Hello! I'm a huge fan of your tanks and I just wondered if you could give live plant tips for my new axolotl tank? It's my first time owning one and I'm very excited but have a relatively cheap budget since I'm paying for everything on my own. I was just wondering, I heard Axolotl are great jumpers and can accidentally throw themselves out of the aquarium if there's no cover, how can you deal with that when the Bamboos are sticking out I wonder ?
I've had my axolol for a couple months now. No cover, she has not jumped or attempted. I also don't fill the tank up fully. I leave an inch of space between the water level and rim. If you think, axolotls are not strong swimmers and cannot climb. If they tried to lift themselves out, their arms do not have enough muscle or bone mass to lift their heavy bodies out and would give up once they realized they cannot breathe.
The most mine ever does is he comes up and swallows a bubble

Please don't get one, they are not pets. They are a critically endangered species and even if owning one is not illegal where you are from (it is in many places since they are also exotic animals), it contributes to black market and eventually their extinction. If you like them you can buy plushies or other products directly from conservation projects that actually help them.

Hi, I’m getting an axolotl soon and wanted to make it a cave, what brand of silicone do you use??
Beautiful tank and cute lil friend! Id love to do this however im worried about mine jumping ive herd they do that sometimes. Also what filtration system is that? I would love to get one.
It's the Sunsun 503 and linked in the description! It's an awesome compact and low cost canister filter that I use on a number of my tanks. I particularly like it as it has a low flow rate, perfect for my axolotls and bettas.
Where do you get lucky bamboo? I want to use it for my aquarium and the aesthetic is so cool with the sand and the bamboo!

I have! Lucy started quite small when I first got her, and now with her new larger tank I am planning to get her a tank mate! Great question
This is actually false, axolotls don’t need companions, they’re solitary animals. Adding another axolotl is sometimes not a good idea because they’ve been known to nibble and bite each other or stress an axolotl out , same goes for other tank mates, the axolotl likes to eat anything it can
They only nibble each other when young not as adults
Axolotls actually do better alone. When they are grouped together, aggression can be common and actually expected depending on the tank size, plus it adds stress to their lives. It is healthier to have them alone.

@@Grace-sq3ri it would be suitable for one axolotl. you could put two in it but the water would probably stay more cloudy all the time and be hard to manage, your axolotls would be less happy in that tank than a bigger one if u end up getting two. but its a perfect size for one!

I have a question I know gravel can axolotls can’t use gravel cause they can eat the gravel but can they eat the sand
I have a baby axolotl, and my question is if I can put substrate and sand for it? because as far as we know, it can swallow the substrate and sand and die.
for babies they can get impacted and sand should be avoided . axies larger than 6 inches can have fine sand tho

She probably had to wait with adding water for the glue to dry up not sure though
