Fani Willis would be downright foolish to do any interviews regarding her investigations and findings before she finishes the job of putting tfg & company in a cage. Because the press is protected by the first amendment, media companies should have sued Trump for defamation after he repeatedly made those statements. How Authoritarians subvert democracies should be part of basic education in civics. It's necessary self defence for all citizens of a democracy. Apparently It's a standard part of German education, as they have extreme experience with the effects of it, and they use what's currently happening in America as an example.
Terrifying what's currently going on here at home. However, we must keep reminding ourselves that the fringes, although frequently newsworthy because they are the most boisterous, do NOT speak for the majority of Americans. We still have our Universities, our courts who are willing to push back both state and federal. Autonomous federal agencies. I still have hope for us, although it is waning.
Germany has its own problems, although the far right is on a smaller scale and does not hold power in any of the 16 states. Learning the reasons for the collapse of Germany's weak democracy in 1933 is part of the school curriculum, as well as learning about the Holocaust (the far right would love laws banning this because it might make a student feel ashamed of their grandparents). To my knowledge, authoritarian tendencies in the USA are not (yet) part of the official curriculum, although individual teachers are free to show their students parallels from anywhere in the world. The European Union has been much too slow to take action against Hungary for its abuses of its rules for member states. All the more frustrating because Hungary is a "taker", getting much more funding from the EU than it pays into it. A lot like red states in the US that are heavily dependent on federal funds but bite the hand that feeds them.
RON DESANTIS of Florida would ban such teachings. He doesn't want people to know what's going on, how fascism is taking root under the guidance of people like him. All under the pretenses of "putting America First," and "abiding by Christian ideals." Well, those are facade slogans hiding what's really going on. I met a refugee from Hungary, he had a photo album of his family’s home. They had blankets for doors to the house because the doors were stolen for money. That was around 18 years ago, I can’t imagine things have improved.

My mother's family came to America from Hungary. I'm second generation American. The story of what is happening in Hungary (and also happening in Florida and elsewhere in America) is terrifying beyond words.
It's sickening to the core to see Republican CPAC events taking place overseas where people like Viktor Orban and Jain Bolsonaro are hailed as "leaders to watch and to learn." American politicians are resurrecting what happened in the 1930's, where a political faction aligned themselves with Nazi Germany. "America First." Sound familiar?

Yes, and it's such an important example. In the middle of Europe, where it would never have been expected. Orban started as a pro-democracy candidate. But in a new democracy, by having power long enough, both individually and as a party, this is what happens.
And the parallels and lessons. When someone questions the corruption: "I'm protecting you from the deviants, from the decadence that Europe is trying to force down our throats". The exact same techniques that are being used here.
This is exactly what Timothy Snyder warned about in "On Tyranny" and "The Road to Unfreedom".

Germany has its own problems, although the far right is on a smaller scale and does not hold power in any of the 16 states. Learning the reasons for the collapse of Germany's weak democracy in 1933 is part of the school curriculum, as well as learning about the Holocaust (the far right would love laws banning this because it might make a student feel ashamed of their grandparents). To my knowledge, authoritarian tendencies in the USA are not (yet) part of the official curriculum, although individual teachers are free to show their students parallels from anywhere in the world.
The European Union has been much too slow to take action against Hungary for its abuses of its rules for member states. All the more frustrating because Hungary is a "taker", getting much more funding from the EU than it pays into it. A lot like red states in the US that are heavily dependent on federal funds but bite the hand that feeds them.
RON DESANTIS of Florida would ban such teachings. He doesn't want people to know what's going on, how fascism is taking root under the guidance of people like him. All under the pretenses of "putting America First," and "abiding by Christian ideals." Well, those are facade slogans hiding what's really going on. More people need to wake up, yet, disinfo flows so freely now, intentionally creating noise and doubt to keep people from waking. Even "woke" is now hijacked.

Very well done! You coverred a lot of distinct topics that I didn't know about, and you did a great job of drawing the connection to both what is going on in the U.S. and what is likely to happen. There really is no getting arround the observation that this is a growing trend in Republican politics. Not all Republicans have authoritarian ambitions, but the anti-democracy leaders are all Republicans. I hope this becomes a major voting issue in future elections. It seems like it was in 2020, but that could simply be due to bad candidates. Their progress MUST be resisted.

I've been watching both the resilience and rise of democracies around the world. Yes, they are under threat, and in places like Russia or Hungary, the authoritarians have already taken over. What is Gov Justice' legal standing for these actions against W.V. public broadcasting? Is there a case here? I find these individual state actions more insidious than what's happening on the national stage, because they are receiving less reporting and therefore under cover. I think we should have means testing for red states. No federal funds till they meet federal requirements for fixing their obvious problems.

I don't understand how The 45th and his crew's actions are not classified as Treason. It appears to me that nearly everything they've done (Are doing) falls under that category. If I recall, one of the punishments for Treason is... Seems to me, if we, as a Democratic civilization, are to survive, Treason MUST be met with the most extreme of punishments.

You're not going to get strong laws about treason in America because of all the traitors, including the
ones who acted in treason against their British masters. There should be financial laws about treason,
taking the taxpayers money and using it for global interests. A city should spend money in the city,
and if it can't get those services or products, spend it in the State, if not the State than in America.
Nobody is accusing Past President Trump of being a financial traitor, even if he used fraud to avoid
paying taxes in America while he paid millions to various foreign countries. You should be an activist.
