Thanks for your videos. Just back in London after a week in Zilara. Hard to choose my favourite restaurant. Brandos, Journey and Shutter were my favourites. For me, Shutter is the best place for a cocktail. We shall be back :-)

Thank you Christine for all of your wonderful informational videos! I may have missed this bit of info... do any of the restaurants take reservations or is everything first come, first serve? We have a large family and want to be prepared prior to our arrival. Thanks again!
Hi Emily! No the only one that does reservations is the Teppanyaki tables in the Asian restaurant. Everything else is first come first served. It may be a plan to assume that there will be a 20-30 minute wait at peak times (assuming your party is 6-8 people) and go to the restaurant based on that - if one person goes to the restaurant and books a table, then meets everyone back at the bar, you can have a leisurely drink and they'll page you when your table is ready. If it's part of your dining plan, it'll greatly reduce the stress. Cheers & thanks for watching!
Hi, I was wondering if you remember seeing a bar at the Navigator restaurant. I am looking for a (free) area to have a little welcome cocktail hour for some of my wedding guests. I love the open-air look of Navigator but not sure if it had an actual bar area to congregate around.
Hi Crystal! Yes there was one but I was there before Covid and I'm sure things have changed. I would recommend meeting at one of the bars like the one outside of the Italian restaurant or the lobby bar - something that's out of the way of other guests. Good luck with the planning!

Ooh that’s a tough one! I’d definitely say these two are the top of the chain and I love the variety at Cap Cana with Peruvian flavours, the Indian restaurant and the healthy restaurant (Chinola) offering stuff that was really tasty. Definitely comparable but maybe just slightly better at Cap Cana.
Do they have drink service on the beach ? How does the service compare to Mexico. My wife LOVES Mexico but I am trying to convince her to give the Dominican Republic a try but have heard some bad reports from people about the quality and speed of service in the DR compared to Mexico. If I drag my wife to the DR for our 25th anniversary and it sucks I will never hear the end of it. Haha. Thanks.
R.A.S. You bet they do! I am more of a pool person but we hit the beach one day and Junior and Felix came by on a regular basis to check if we needed a new drink. In my experience, it’s no faster or slower than any resort in Mexico I’ve been to. I think you’ll have a great time here!
If staying on Ziva side because one of my kids is 17, how would they know they are not 18 and could they eat with adults at Zilara? Just curious as that would give us more dining options for a 10 day trip when everyone else is over 18. He is mature so I was curious how resort handles it or if they look up room/passport when we go to get a table.
Hi Ben. You know, that's a really good question and I suspect it will be a bit of a hit & miss thing. If it's not too busy and he looks 18, they may allow it. When you get a table, they look up your room number but I didn't see anything that indicated if someone was over 18 or not. Then again, their little guest cheat sheets can be a bit cryptic to an outsider! Enjoy!
What is the difference between the oceanfront view vs the ocean view suites?
Hi Rian - thanks for watching! Ocean view rooms are typically on the higher floors and you'll be able to see the ocean but won't have a direct view and may not be able to see the sunrise. Ocean Front rooms are right at the end of the building, so there's nothing but beach and a few palm trees to obstruct your view. That's what I stayed in last time and it was spectacular! Sat on the balcony lounger and watched the sunrise and enjoyed the view for many hours each day!

Do the accommodate large groups?
Hi Toribattle! Yes absolutely! Depends if you need the space to be private or not and if you all want to be seated at the same table. For most resorts, 6 or maybe 8 is the maximum that they will accommodate. Beyond that, you either need to book a private function or make other special arrangements, so that the kitchen can keep everything running smoothly. Thanks for watching!

Scott Dawson Travels Have just finished Caesar salad and awaiting pepperoni pizza at Waves - I think this is definitely my favourite but the butter chicken and garlic naan bread at the Indian restaurant were so flavourful. I’ll do a video next week of my favourite foods - thank goodness they have an incredible gym here! Am indulging like crazy!
Looks so pretty & pristine is it fully completed ? Any construction ? How is the nightly entertainment...def want to chk out for our next trip..currently at the barcelo palace & really regret didnt go with my initial choice of ziva..((
Hi Maya! The resort is 99% completed - they're just finishing up the spa and some of the convention areas but these aren't near any guest rooms so no noise from that. Nightly entertainment is good - they have a show for the kids and then one for the adults, plus they often have a live musician on the Zilara side outside of the lobby bar and a DJ comes into the Sports Bar around 10pm so you can dance if you like. - Lorenzo (Ziva Club pool) makes a wicked jalapeño margarita
- the filet at Chinola is amazing
- try the Aplatanao burger at Waves (Dominican burger) it’s big enough to share!
- try the waterslides!
- say hi to DennyS if you go to the Zilara Club lounge

I felt Barcelo has more entertainment for kids that was why I am considering it. If possible, could you kindly compare Barcelo versus Hyatt Ziva? Also, beach review would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you!!
@@thyiff2219 Barcelo is tremendous & dirty & terrible food & service just 1 big uncomfortable place. Hyatt is super clean new & relaxing with better food & nicer rooms. Big wide beach & just more elegant.
Was the hotel crowded ? Looks empty in video
It was around 94% occupancy on that day but was hit & miss the whole trip. We usually found that if the Zilara side was full, the Ziva side would be empty and vice versa, so we just chose our pool locations and dining options accordingly. Thanks for watching!
Do they have a 24 hour restaurant ?
Hi Fred. No they don't have anything open 24 hours other than room service. Everything is subject to change these days, but that's their normal policy. These days - it'll likely depend on occupancy levels, so weekends will have more services available. Thanks for watching!
