    Eminem is genius. The way he dropped Kamikaze and MTBMB without any press or promotion - and the fact he has enough power and presence to do that. He's figured out a way to avoid the insane unfair backlash his work gets from critics and "fans" even before the work is released. Man's a legend.

    " There's something inside me thats a little more happy when I'm angry" ...I feel this is at the core of the artist's struggle because strong emotions, like anger and sadness, make it easy to produce good music. If you follow an artist long enough you'll find a pattern of them making "bad music" when they're at their happiest. It is what it is...🤷‍♀️

    • @dustin5557
      @dustin5557 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This is very true in my own experiences during the years of my life where I did nothing but work and play in death metal bands. I did 6 months in county for a Marijuana dui and didn't have a drum set. I needed to do something musical to keep my spirits up and stay out of the politics so I just started writing songs. Being in the hole for 2 months for fighting was where i was the most creative I ever was and where the ideas and words just came out of me when I put pencil to paper. It just happened to be the time in my life where I felt the most anger and alone. When I got home and writing turned into a hobby and I was generally very happy again it started hitting me. "Oh this is why my favorite musicians produced IMO their best stuff when they were depressed, angry, addicted, heart broken, etc." It almost seems like a paradox however I do really believe pain breeds creativity in a way other emotional states just can't.

    Love this part when Em said:
    "Hip Hop was the most important thing that empowered me as a kid. It made me feel tough when I wasn't. When I was a scrawny little kid, growing up on 8-mile, walkin up the f***in block, put headphones on and it made me feel powerful. HipHop probably was... It was like my dad, it was the only thing that made me empowered, made me feel good about myself. And when I started being able to write rhymes, and figured I could do it, that's where the feeling comes from to me. Because the excitement, is being able to come up with this shit. It taught me how to throw my first punch. It gave me the confidence to be able to throw my first punch."
    so much respect for this man.

    When Em talks about how that feeling of anger gives him a little bit of joy from it, that's why I connected with his music. 20 years ago as a kid. I was angry I didn't have the perfect home or the foundation to make something of myself. I was just an angry kid with no answers and no ambition or idols. Through Eminem's music I found drive and a reason to turn the tables on my situation. Guts over fear, weakness's to strengths and freedom to help others find a similar path. He is an artist and he has helped me paint my life.

Now that times gone by he does have his control which is Great In all absolute.

      If you’re talking about like when he did Berzerk and on ESPN did that blank stare face, that’s the Berzerk face. It’s inspired by Ad Rocks face from the Pass The Mic video. If you’re not talking about that, then yeah that’s sometimes what people look like after getting sober. You’re refiguring out literally everything. When I got sober I forgot how to make a bowl of cereal. That’s not a joke. I walked into the kitchen to make a bowl of cereal and couldn’t remember how. Stop hating on the drummer/guitar player/punk-pop rock Singer/Big movie actor.... Because he can do More than just rap? Cmon really? He was on MTV like 12 years ago. But now he's a loser cuz he can sing & play a guitar? Nope. Just no lol. I will laugh for a week if he drops a rap album next- While he is so commercially successful right now. Between Corpse + Megan & Blackbear & SNL + Billboard Awards + ... he is pretty well known so whatever his next drop is will get a listen just because... So,, what if people love it ? What if it's good? Haters gotta hate... having success in 2+ genres Don't make you a loser haha. Kinda works the opposite. Like how's Eminem's acting carreer going? Singing career? His success as a musician? (You know, those people who can play musical instruments? )How are Eminems sales in those genres? No one says that! Cuz not everyone needs to spread hate. Most recognize cross genre success as rather impressive & fairly uncommon & it irritates me they get away with twisting it into an apparent weakness grr. I'm glad someone finally called it out. It's not really his vibe, because he's not the most active on social media, and even in his early years, he stated that he doesn't want the fame and money (even though we know he has all that), but he just wanted to do this for improving the craft. But when he does go on interviews, it gives me life :) Plus, hearing him talk and sounding really intelligent when people think he's not is relieving :)

Like, I have said this so many times. It’s not just what’s on my mind. Yea sure I’m thinking about it. But it takes two to tango. I can’t have a reaction without your action first. Other wise I’m called a psycho and thrown in a ward. I believe most of our problems stem from neural linguistics programming. Check it out sometime. I am studying this now. It was developed in the 70s in Cali, but, I have to look into it more. I still won’t baracade myself with their rules and regulations. It’s the Lonny show far as I’m concerned. And if people don’t like it they can take a walk. Your ability to talk yourself and others off the ledge, is a serious power that takes practice.

    He’s absolutely right there is no originality today. Period. Back in the day you had to have your own uniqueness so much so that once people heard the sound of your voice they could identify you immediately. That took actual skill and hard work to tap your unique sound. Now I feel like all that energy is put into the marketing not the actual artist being unique and that’s a damn shame. On top of that it is literally common that fans want an artist to stay the same as his hit albums but it’s called evolution and no artist should become a characture of themselves. Artists are meant to change and grow they reflect life and that’s what organically occurs in life so why do people want to pigeonhole an artist into staying stuck in one spot?

      Wow brilliant comment. People can’t seem to accept the fact that Em has changed and they want him to be as violent like he was in the past. Em is grown up people! People always compare him to his old self, they are scared to let go of slim shady the greatness that the world knows and This god-like pressure is going to destroy Eminem one day.

      i don’t completely disagree with every thing but the first half. rap now is so vast where as to in the 90s- early 2000s it was all relatively the same. i mean obvi a song made in 92 didn’t sound like 2004, but like in the respective year the songs would be so similar. now you could have Polo G, Playboi Carti, YB, and Durk all drop on the same night, 4 of the biggest artists in the game, an they will all be so different.

      Completely correct with 1 exception. Kendrick. Fuckin. Lamar. He's technically current rap as he's younger in the game than Lil Durk, etc. He's so unique and I love his stuff.

      @@reidplowman1097 even if you don't like him, his storytelling is unparalleled in modern rap. His schemes and technical prowess shows, and you can feel the emotions. Rappers back then used to rap bout personal experiences and relevant topics, like police brutality (see: NWA). Now, they rap about 'lean' and 'bands' and 'ice'. There's no diversification of their portfolio.

I don’t care if people kneel during the anthem, honestly. My friends and I have fought and so many have been killed for them to be able to have that right. We kneel for our fallen brothers. We kneel next to their caskets to mourn, they’re kneeling for those lost...plain and simple.
